Mum came to Maples 18 months ago and has been cared for very well. Staff always accommodating and welcoming. Because of dementia, Mum is not always accommodating and willing to get involved with activities, etc., but the staff just goes along with her wishes.

Mum came to Maples five weeks ago.
As we are four daughters, we regularly go to visit.
Just love Maples staff, so cheerful and smiley, and the other visitors are all so pleasant.
We have definitely seen a marked improvement in our mum's health and well-being since she has been there.

We have our mum back, which we haven't had for a few years.

Maples Care Home has experienced and compassionate staff leading.
My mum tells me 'they are lovely to me', what more could anyone ask for. The activities on offer are so varied and range from quizzes, singers, arts and crafts to therapy dog visits (to name a few).

The residents are so well looked after and nourished and hydrated. I never feel that I can't raise any points or give feedback regarding my mum's care. This is a really tremendous home and with new management in place, the improvements are ongoing. I sleep well at night knowing Maples is my mum's home. Thank you.

My mum came to Maples from another home, where she wasn't eating, had no interaction with the staff for the 6 weeks she was there.
Within half an hour at Maples the carers had her eating and drinking, then the activities lady encouraged her to play a game.
My mum has been there for 2 weeks and she is happy and settled.
Seriously I can't thank all the staff enough.
From entering Maples it has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are all caring, encouraging, and supportive.

It feels like a home from home and would 100% recommend this home. I can finally relax knowing my mum is safe and all her needs are met.

My mother has Vascular dementia and has been residing in Maples for nearly two years. The home itself is clean, nicely decorated and is a safe and secure home for my mum, mum is well cared for and the carers, nurses and staff are all friendly professional and polite. They see to all of Mum's needs, you get a call once a week asking if I have any concerns and go through a care plan to make sure it's up to date. They also look at the meals to make sure mum's eating well. Mum has regular showers. Mum's room is lovely, with matching furniture, you can also take in their pieces of furniture and bedding to make them feel at home and put family pictures on the walls. There's a peaceful garden with a seating area. They have a great team of people that do different activities with the residents, singing and dancing (if the residents can of course) visiting times are 8 am to 8 pm, come and go as you please. A hairdresser and a chiropodist, opticians and a doctor visit regularly when needed. We are very happy.

Thank you for your kind review. Living in a care home is about being at home so letting Mum have her own items around her makes such a difference to her wellbeing. This is mum's home as much as it can be. We love to see all the relatives and are happy to support and chat to you as well.

Maples had always been friendly and informative. My cousin is quite difficult at times and the staff do their utmost to divert and support her anxieties. She is still quite volatile at times and they do their best to support and pacify her. Always kept informed. Maples is kept clean and tidy and never this year have there been any unpleasant smells etc.

The home is working well for our needs. My wife is cared for well. The carers are good and facilities are well run. My value for money rating refers simply to the fact there is no local authority support.

Do not put your loved one here. Don’t be fooled by the sight of the place. Read the CQC report that was published in December 2023. Read it and believe it! It doesn’t go far enough! In my opinion, criminal investigations should occur. I’ve put one star because otherwise my review won’t be accepted, Canfield Healthcare deserve nothing!

Reply from Nicola Bundock, Registered Home Manager at Maples Care Home

Dear Jackie, we are sorry to hear that you feel unsatisfied with our care here at Maples. You mention the CQC report – we are, of course, extremely disappointed with this. However, we would like to reassure you that we have taken CQC’s feedback very seriously and have already made positive changes....

Review from Geraldine M (Wife of Resident) published on 8 December 2023 Submitted via Website

My husband came to Maples Care Home from a 9 week stint in hospital. His previous care home refused to have him back so he was put in Maples. The real care this nursing home gives is second to none (having received no care from his first home). The staff are amazing. Friendly, conscientious, as said very caring and cannot do enough for my husband.

As most people with dementia, he can have his nasty moments and can be quite rude to the staff. They deal so well with this type of behaviour in such a way that within hours he is back to his cheeky self. The staff are always open to discussion on how the resident is on a daily basis and work really hard, sometimes going hours without a break. Safety wise the lounges are never left without a carer so you know your relative won't come to any harm.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

My husband moved into the home in September. We had a number of ongoing issues. However, since the new manager has arrived at the home I have received nothing but kindness and support all round. I now feel a lot happier about my Husbands care and I myself feel so supported. She has made such a difference in a very short space of time. I would now, but not previously recommend this nursing home.

An almost perfect care home, where employees seem devoted to the residents. There are occasional issues with clothes being lost, and on one occasion there was a hygiene issue with my mother when we visited. I was assured that this was due to the fact that my mother declined her morning shower. The food is varied and freshly cooked and the building kept clean and tidy.

My mum has been a resident of the home for some months now.
Whilst she had settled into her room, we moved her to the ground floor as she needed more stimulation and interaction with other residents and carers. She is happy, and as a family, we feel she is cared for and safe. The home has a lovely garden, which we try and take mum out into, weather permitting. It would be lovely if there was a covered area or conservatory that could be used in the winter months, so she still had access to some outside space.
Mum does not have much of an appetite, but the food is good that is provided. However, the offer of ice cream or yoghurt should be offered as an alternative to the puddings with custard that seem to be on the menu each day.

Overall, the home is a safe and happy place with a good level of care and concern for the residents.

Many thanks for your kind review. We are so pleased that you feel our home is warm and friendly with a lovely garden. My dad moved into the care home from the hospital. He was not an easy client, but the staff were very patient and good with him.
They coaxed him to eat and calmed him down when he had delusional episodes and was a bit rough with them.

It has taken a bit of time to settle him in since February, but things are going well. Very pleased with the staff, and the contact I have from the home always made to feel welcome, and it is easy to talk to staff regarding my relative. The client portal helps me to keep up with everyday activities - I just log in.

A well run care home. Staff are all very pleasant to deal with and look after the residents with care. The entertainment team work hard to look after the residents and people also come in to entertain such as singers and pet therapy. The rooms are neat and tidy providing ample room for the resident. The food menu is very reasonable and usually gives two options for each meal. When changes are proposed the menu is sent out in advance for comments.

We could not have been more pleased with the treatment my mother received at Maples Care Home. The carers, nurses, admin staff, entertainment team, handyman and cleaners couldn't have been more caring.
