Nan stayed for a respite period and myself and my family felt happy that she was safe and being looked after. All staff I came across when visiting her (daily) were extremely friendly and helpful to both my nan and me. Nan will say the food wasn’t great but she is very fussy with not much of an appetite, I saw all lunch meals that were brought to her and they all looked and smelled lovely. Overall a very happy experience for my nan.

Our mum has been a resident at Maples Care Home since September 2022. It is a modern building, and she has a clean, spacious room with a view of the garden and her own en-suite bathroom.
All the carers and nurses are friendly, patient, kind and caring towards Mum, which has really helped her to settle in, and she is now much calmer.

The food is good quality (with three meals a day plus snacks), and residents are regularly offered both hot and cold drinks. The entertainment team is very active, and Mum enjoys joining in most days - especially the music/singing/dancing. She has also been on an outing recently within the local community. The whole team at Maples are always friendly and helpful to the family whenever we visit.

My mum has now been a resident at Maples Care Home for just over five years. In all that time I have never had cause to complain about the level of care she has received.
I tend to visit my mum every week on different days and although the care staff turnover is high, I have always found the level of care to be consistently good.

I have also found everybody else working at the home, whether on the activities side or admin, cleaning or catering staff, to be very friendly and helpful. They all do their best in what can be a difficult and challenging environment.

Having met the care manager for the first time today and previously being a care professional. I would like to say how much I was impressed by his integrity and professionalism. Also his enthusiasm for his staff and residents. The home is clean and welcoming and the staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend Maples Care Home to anyone considering care for their loved ones.

Fantastic home. Staff are always so friendly and helpful. My mum is happy in there. She has regular visits from the activity team and singer to keep her entertained in her room.
Mum has a laugh with the carers and the nurses ensure all her care needs are met.

February 2022 was my dear wife's fourth birthday anniversary at the Maples.
As her husband of 56 years, it has become increasingly difficult for me to continue my hitherto regular twice-weekly visiting. Why?
The reasons are mine and mine alone and every husband/wife will have reasons different and often opposed to mine. Decisions are personal.
My wife is very unwell. We spent 53 happy years together. We brought three beautiful children into the world. But, I have to let her live her own ‘new’ life in her own ‘new world’.
As our life together has ended so her new life has begun.
I have chosen to leave her in the care of the Maples where she now has new routines and new ‘friends’ but more than anything else she has found her own happiness.

I still have daily telephone contact with her carers in whom I have total confidence, that when they say “she has had a good day, she has eaten well, drunk well, slept well and smiles regularly”, I can relax and say thank you to my God.

I have found all the staff at Maples very friendly, helpful and caring. I am amazed at how patient they are with my mother, especially when they are dealing with her personal care as she can be very resistant to their help, but they always seem to calm her down and have a laugh with her afterwards. As my mother is no longer able to stand unaided, she was provided with a more comfortable wheelchair so they are able to take her out of her room into the lounge/diner. The staff also provided a lovely birthday cake for her when she celebrated her 95th birthday just after Christmas which she did enjoy. My family were a little worried when our mother went into Maples as we were not sure how she would settle down, but our fears were groundless as she has settled in well and has told us she is happy there.

My father has been a resident since September 2021 following a devastating stroke, which robbed him of a large part of his vision and gave him cognitive impairment. The staff at Maples Care Home are wonderful with him and I always get the feeling that they genuinely care and it's not just a show for visitors. He is very happy there and is well looked after. He walks with a zimmer frame and because of his visual impairment, he is at high risk for falls. The staff are very good at documenting and informing us of any incidents and they try to walk with him but he does like to wander. I live overseas and am only able to visit every three to four months but I phone regularly and they always take the time to update me. Maples Care Home is a wonderful home and, as a family, we are very happy that Dad is being so well cared for.

Mum moved into Maples during lockdown. Despite the restrictions, Maples staff did all they could to make her welcome and to make me feel welcome and involved. She settled in and enjoys the company of other residents and staff, and loves it when there are activities organised in the lounge.
The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained and are always spotless.
I always feel welcome when I visit and have positive and friendly interactions with the staff.

Mum has become relaxed and comfortable in her surroundings and it is lovely to feel she is looked after, cared for and cared about as an individual and that I do not have to worry about her in the care of the Maples team.

My dad became a resident in December 2021 having lived on his own for many years and was very anxious about the move. Everyone was so kind and helpful that he settled in really quickly and is very happy he made the move, in fact, he now says he should have done it sooner!
Everyone I have been in contact with has been very approachable and helpful, they are very friendly to my dad and treat him with respect.

We are both very happy with his care.

Everyone is extremely friendly and kind. My father has always been treated with kindness and affection. I visited my mother-in-law on her 100th birthday at the end of December. Despite all best efforts, when I arrived the home had had to be closed to visitors due to an immediate covid outbreak! The wonderful manager knew I’d travelled a long way and found a way for me to see my relative. She was kept totally safe at all times and her carer was so wonderfully kind to her and me. I couldn’t fault their commitment to my mother-in-law and also to me. Bravo team ..you made both our days! Thank you so much for all your kindness. Although Mum was not in the nursing care of Maples for long, we cannot fault the care and support we all received. This started with enquires when it was deemed that Mum needed nursing care. The receptionist and administrator were super efficient answering all the questions we needed answering.
When Mum arrived we couldn’t fault the nursing care she received by the staff on Sunflower, they kept us informed of how she was especially when we were unable to visit.
As a family we couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming place for Mum to spend her last days.

Thank you to all at Maples.

My husband was diagnosed with dementia in 2017, had a stroke in 2019 and broke a hip in 2020. He became a resident of Maples in February 2021 and settled in very well. The staff are very caring and kind to him and he enjoys the food, drinks and snacks which are provided throughout the day. His clothes are generally clean when I visit. I feel that he is safe and comfortable.
The Relatives Gateway information I find isn't always accurate regarding personal care. I have bought this to the attention of the duty nurses several times and in the short term he has been respectably presented but there is no continuity in this respect.

I spoke recently to the manager and new clinical manager about these disappointing aspects and have been assured that appropriate action will be taken.

My aunt became a resident of Maples following six weeks in hospital. At that time she was very poorly, unable to manage herself and unable to mobilise. She required double handling and the use of a hoist. The staff have worked well to support her. It's now seven months after she became a resident. She is able to stand and walk a few steps, as well as move herself around in a limited way, in her wheelchair. This is all fantastic and the staff should be commended for the help they have given.
The resident gateway was really helpful in keeping us aware of her situation when we were not allowed to visit due to Covid. The gateway can be confusing as some entries appear to be repeated and some aspects not or are inaccurately logged.

The challenge for my aunt has been losing her independence and needing to rely on staff who have not been immediately available for her particular needs. Staff have not always communicated clearly their situation and when they could attend to her needs.
