My Mum went into Maples Care Home in March 2018 after much research into homes. I found Maples by chance, I was made very welcome by the manager who stayed late to show me around. My immediate impression was that it was light, clean and friendly. My Mum came with a series of issues, broken hip, knee, ankle, dementia and diabetes. She was unable to walk. But now after some physio, she is mobile with a walking frame. She is a poor eater and with the support of the care workers and the fact that they now know my Mum she is eating better and has gained weight.

The nursing staff are excellent, they are kind, understanding and very professional. I have gotten to know the staff and as a result, it makes visiting and caring for my Mum easier. My friend came to see my Mum last week and commented that there were a lot of 'smiling faces'.

No care home is perfect, and Maples does have areas for improvement, but overall my Mum is happy and that's what is about for me.

My uncle was admitted to this care facility in March 2018, having neglected himself and no longer able to cope. After two months his health and strength had been improved so greatly he was able to consider returning home. He stayed for a further month whilst work on his home was carried out for his eventual return. During his stay all the staff were friendly and attentive to his needs, his room was comfortable and clean as were the communal areas. His medical needs were met promptly and with great efficiency. Throughout my career with London Ambulance Service, I have cause to visit many care homes across London, and the Maples is definitely top of the list.

Although our family member was resident for just over two months, we as a family were extremely happy with the care provided by the staff at Maples and the high standard of living provided. Sadly, our family member passed away early in January 2017 but the care and attention he received towards the end of his life were outstanding. This home is immaculate, extremely organised and has such a homely feel it is hard not to want to live there yourself. Thank you to all at Maples for being such a special place

My dad arrived at The Maples straight from the A&E department and was quite unwell. During his stay he became fit and well, the nurses found that he had an infection and contacted his doctor for an antibiotic. The care he received was outstanding, everyone we met were happy and caring.

He enjoyed the good food, the rooms are very modern and clean and the local areas are bright and airy. We couldn't have asked for anything more from the wonderful staff at The Maples. Dad left happy and enjoyed his stay.

I needed to put my 98 year old mother into respite while I went on holiday, this home was the only one that could guarantee me a place. Her room was very clean and bright and was not far from the lounge so she did not have far to walk. All members of staff are friendly and caring. She seemed to enjoy her two weeks there.

End of life care at Maples. My friend has just passed away peacefully in her own room in her own bed surrounded by familiar possessions that make the room her home. No disturbing move to an unfamiliar environment. I was called at 4pm on Tuesday and she died at 6pm on Wednesday. I was offered a quiet room to rest in, food and drink, support by nurses checking from time to time. My friend had a deep faith. Carers brought music, song hymns, looked on to kiss and say goodbye to her. For a long period of time my friend was aware of this and must have felt comforted. She could not have been better treated if she has been moved to the local hospice where she had worked for 15 yrs. I am only sorry she did not live long enough to enjoy the improvement made by the new manager, making the home attractive, friendly and alive.

Great improvements so far with new management, which I feel confident will result eventually with recognition as the best in borough of Bexley. Keep up the good work, well done to all the loyal staff there who really do care.

My relative has serious health problems and her health has deteriorated in recent months. I feel the response has been good- the staff have been focused on her welfare and keeping her as comfortable as possible. There has been good communication with the GP and I have been kept up to date. The standards of care in this home continue to improve and I am aware that there are active plans to provide a more interesting range of activities and to improve the menus. My relative's friends and I recently had lunch at the home. The meal was tasty and staff made every effort to make us welcome.

My father has had various care needs over the last 2 years and Maples have done their best to ensure that the care is appropriate for his needs. I can rest assured that he is being looked after 24/7, and I will be contacted if anything happens between my visits. He is secure, well fed and cared about.

My mother has been at Maples for just over 2 years. She improved quite quickly after she became a resident. She is happy being at Maples and she receives very good care. She gets along with the staff very well and other residents. The home is always very clean and tidy, and all the staff are very friendly.

The Maples is a very good care home. Very clean with beautiful decor and the food is very good. Most importantly the carers "care" and do their job very well. Nothing is too much trouble all the staff (cleaners, kitchen staff, laundry etc) are pleasant and helpful. The only criticism I have is that they have too much computer/paper work to do, especially the senior carers and nurses who appear to do this all day!
