We are very happy with the level of care and commitment the residents receive from the staff. All tasks are undertaken and no fuss is made. The residents are treated as individuals but can collectively join in activities should they wish to. We have noticed since the new manager has arrived an increase
in the number of outings, organised visitors coming to the home and the 'pop-up restaurant' events. The service user's rooms are well kept, bright airy and modern. Communal areas are bright and clean.

My mother has many needs as she has advanced Alzheimer's. Staff are caring and treat her with dignity and respect. The home is always clean and her dietary requirements are well catered for. Food is fresh and nutritious and home cooked. Activities and outings are regularly organised and well planned.

Sunday Lunch: As the 'food' often occupies a great deal of the conversation when I visit Mum, I thought I would join her for lunch one day. When I asked the staff they were so accommodating and happy for me to be there. So, on Sunday I collected Mum from her room and we joined many of the other residents
waiting for lunch - this was maybe ten minutes and we chatted away. (As Mum has poor eyesight she often tells me it is an hour's wait!!). It was both a real pleasure for me to listen to stories of their lives, especially the debate of having Yorkshire pudding before lunch or with it! and to see some of the residents (who tend to keep to their rooms throughout the day) interacting with each other, expressing genuine care for each other. As for the staff; there are not enough words to describe their care and total consideration for each and every person. They know exactly how to offer choices, what everyone could or should eat. Even the question "where are the parsnips" was responded to brilliantly (there was actually no room on the plate for any more of anything, but the carer asked the cook if parsnips could be on another day). The choice of meat was chicken and beef and one or two of the residents said the beef was tough. However once cut along the grain it was fine. False teeth and blunt knives don't go too well with beef). Once again the carer was able to talk to the residents about the meal and nothing was overlooked. If I had not been at lunch the message I would have been given by Mum would have been about what Mum had said other than what actually took place. The pudding was delicious and again choice was offered, followed by tea and coffee. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and everyone was treated as the unique individual they are. Some residents wanted to return to their rooms, some to stay a while and some even had their meal delivered to their room. My whole experience felt 'special'. We were all truly cherished. I cannot thank the carers enough for all they do (or have done) for my Mum (and did for my Dad when he visited at Hambleton Grange during the last confusing months of his life). Hambleton Grange is a wonderful place, always has been from the day it opened, but don't take my recommendation, go and see for yourself. The feeling of being loved and cared for will enfold you the minute you walk through the door.

I have always found the staff very helpful and caring.
Prior to the appointment of the present manager, there were times when there appeared to be a shortage and high turnover of staff together with a fraught atmosphere.
The staffing has now greatly improved resulting in a happier environment all
round.

Hambleton Grange is a friendly well run facility; it's staff give constantly great care to my mother who has been a resident for over two years. Both my sister and I have no worries about my mother (92) and her care and welfare during her twilight years.

The care my mother received form the staff at Hambleton Grange during the time she was a resident there, was excellent. There was always a friendly atmosphere and every time went out of their way to be helpful. They are a professional, dedicated, caring team.

Since the change of manager the new team is much more approachable, responsive and has time to explain things. Much improved and they are always welcoming and responsive. We feel that mum actually matters to staff and are happy with our choice of home.

Lindsey joined Hambleton Grange when it opened in July 2013. Coming from a banking background, she has enjoyed the challenges which a career change brings and finds her current role particularly fulfilling. Lindsey understands the vast array of emotions felt when people come to look at the possibility of moving into residential care and accordingly she does her best to make the process of enquiring, viewing and ultimately moving as easy and stress free as possible. Her favourite part of her role is getting to know the residents and their families, and joining in with the various daily activities which are on offer at the home.
