Review from Elaine C (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 June 2016 Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
The personal care my mum received was, at all times, exemplary and she was treated with dignity and respect at all times. I cannot praise care staff highly enough and the end of life care was superb. They do a very difficult job and are frequently understaffed but were always most obliging. Food quality
in the year mum was there has varied enormously, but I never felt it reflected adequately the high fees paid. Sometimes it was downright poor and it was never of a high enough quality.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We have been visiting our close friend for nearly two years and have always been so impressed by the courtesy, kindness and even more so the patience and understanding that the staff exhibit in what is never an easy set of circumstances and frequently very taxing ones.
The other significant factor
that we notice is the total cleanliness and tidiness of the home which never falls below this high standard.
In the ever increasing age levels in this country the need for such a high quality of service will surely be so important and equally hopefully valued.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.859)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.859) out of 10 for Brook Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.884 for Brook Court is calculated as follows: ( (199 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 224 Ratings = 4.884
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brook Court is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I enjoy being part of the team and working shoulder to shoulder with colleagues to face whatever the day may bring. Taking a hands-on approach means I can stay in touch with residents and find out how they are feeling – they are, of course, the most important people here.

I feel incredibly proud of what we do here, seeing residents enjoying their time at Brook Court. I was thrilled to have received five nominations for Deputy Manager of the Year when I was in that role; it meant so much to me.

I make a point of being available to residents, their relatives and colleagues. I enjoy being able to offer support and guidance where I can, but I also recognise how important it is to continue learning.

I decided to join Care UK because of its reputation. I have worked for other healthcare providers, and in my opinion, Care UK is by far the best.
