The Whitebeach is a hub community home specialisng in dementia care offering daycare, home care, respite and residential care services.

All bedrooms have en suite facilities and some are suitable for couples.

The day centre opens out onto a large decking area which overlooks a beautiful sensory garden with stimulating colours, smells, running water and a reminiscing caravan.

Coast Care Homes meets each resident's varied and differing needs, ensuring that every resident enjoys the quality of independent living that they deserve.

The Whitebeach has a full-time activities programme and runs three minibus trips a week.

Staff at Coast Care are constantly updating their skills and knowledge and try to keep up to date with the most progressive developments in dementia care.

The staff are caring and helpful. Dad is comfortable and happy with his surroundings. We are kept informed should there be any concerns with his welfare. We are grateful that he is somewhere that he is well looked after and cared for.

Very good care home with excellent, kind and thoughtful staff and management. They will actually listen to you talk to them or make a request on behalf of the resident. The staff go out of their way to make the resident cared for and important. The residents are treated like human beings with their
wants and needs, likes and dislikes considered and listen to. The residents are treated with dignity. The staff provide numerous and varied activities including trips out in the care home's minibus.

Having spent many tiring hours looking for the best care I could find, I was pointed in the direction of The Whitebeach care home. I have to say that on first impressions, it was brilliant, light and bright. The staff are welcoming and to top it all there was no smell, something that my mother, bless
her heart, always says she thinks about in these places. Anyway, I did not need to make an appointment, I made the call and just popped in, I was given the grand tour, not just the best bits. I met and chatted with other residents who all seemed to love it, very important in a home from home. It even has a day centre, so people are not just got up and sat somewhere in front of the TV. I have to say it ticked every box, it has a caravan so the people go on holiday only in the area but it's a breakaway and day trips virtually every day.
Such a dedicated team and my mother loves it. She is out and about more than me these days, just what I wanted for her retirement. My mother has Alzheimer's.

On visiting my mother-in-law while she was on respite, it was lovely to see so many staff on duty and being attentive to the residents and their visitors. The home was clean and smelt good, the food looked lovely and good portion sizes. My mother-in-law looked happy and said she liked it there, better
than her previous respite home. She had a favourite member of staff, said she had slept well and was allowed to wake up when she wanted to. She was also in a bed, not a cot, which was not the case in the previous home. Staff were all smiley and friendly, offering refreshments to everyone while we were there. They had even put her favorite film on when she arrived. You could see that the home was dementia friendly by the decor and activities on the walls. Thank you for looking after her and giving my father-in-law peace of mind while he went away to rest.

My husband is 70 and has dementia mixed type he has had respite in other homes and the care was not satisfactory he went into The Whitebeach in November last year for emergency respite and them made permanent, the staff are brilliant he gets taken out to shows and the pub! They have a lovely way with
him and all the residents. I can't stress enough the relief for me knowing how well he is being cared for.

Grandad is very happy at The Whitebeach. He has quite a complex care needs that are met by the staff brilliantly. There are often functions arranged and we are always made aware of these dates and enjoy them with grandad. We are always made welcome and enjoy visiting grandad in what is now his home.

Kevin

Kevin Dewhurst

Job Title: Owner Joined: 2003

Kevin, alongside his wife Lynda, started the company in 2003 when they purchased Whitebriars. Before this, Kevin had spent most of his career in the construction industry, before he decided he needed a career change.


Whilst Kevin did not have a background in care before this, Kevin quickly identified the areas of care that were failing and made it his mission to ensure Coast Care Homes Ltd was a leader in providing innovative outcomes and outstanding person-centred care. Kevin has been ever-present at all services and supports the management teams daily, offering experience and guidance.


Kevin’s inspiration came from David Sheard from Dementia Care Matters, and the ethos instilled by Kevin is present in all the services.

Lynda

Lynda Dewhurst

Job Title: Owner Joined: 2003

Lynda, alongside her husband Kevin, started the company in 2003 when they purchased Whitebriars.


Lynda has been involved with the shaping of Coast Care Homes since the beginning and has been a driver in ensuring the homes are welcoming and have a homely feel. Lynda has been integral in helping to ensure the company has a positive Social Media presence, which has contributed massively towards the excellent reputation that Coast Care Homes have in the East Sussex area.


Lynda’s day-to-day involvement is in guiding the Activities & Outcomes team, to ensure Coast Care Homes sets itself apart from other local homes in the area, by providing Outstanding Outcomes. Lynda is also heavily involved in planning regular Staff Appreciation events, ensuring that staff feel valued when working for Coast Care Homes and improving staff retention.

Danielle

Danielle Henderson

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2010

Danielle Henderson has worked for Coast Care Homes for over 13 years. From the start of her employment with Coast Care, she has always shown great passion, empathy, and loving support to those she has cared for.


This approach has translated to other relationships with residents' families, health professionals and staff teams.


Danielle has risen from a carer role to Team Leader, Deputy Manager, Home Manager and now an Operations Manager.


Danielle is a fantastic communicator and motivator, she spends many hours in constant supervision building her management and staff teams and helping them to deliver an extremely high level of person-centred care. She ultimately though, has a very special and consistent relationship with her residents, always trying to discover more of their own unique personalities and working hard with her staff and activities teams to connect and meet all their emotional and physical needs.


Danielle has helped to foster efficient and hardworking teams, whose primary focus is ensuring that the residents have the best lived experience. Danielle is currently involved in an Operational sense for all the services, however, she has day-to-day involvement with Whitebriars Care Home, Whitebeach Care Home & Whitecliff Nursing Home, supporting the management teams at these services.

Bill

Bill Poore

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2012

Bill started with Coast Care in September 2012, starting at Whitecliff Care Home as a Care Assistant. Bill joined Coast Care after caring for his grandad who suffered from Dementia & Parkinson’s Disease.


Bill has a Level 5 Degree in Health & Social Care and has worked in several roles within the company, including as Manager at Coast Community Care, Whitebriars and Coast Care Centre. Bill has helped to foster a caring culture within the homes and has helped to develop processes that allow the Coast Care Culture to be given to clients who have Complex Nursing needs.


Bill’s strengths are in his focus on promoting high revenues and increasing profitability, contributing to increased revenue streams across the services managed.


Bill is currently involved in an Operational sense for all the services, however, he has day-to-day involvement with Coast Care Centre & Coast Community Care, supporting the management teams at these services.

Lindsey

Lindsey Sherwood

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2022

Lindsey started with Coast Care in January 2022, joining the company as an Operations Manager. Lindsey has lots of experience in care, and before joining Coast Care Homes, had been overseeing other homes locally. Lindsey is passionate about person-centred care and it’s because of this, that she has been such a good fit at Coast Care Homes.


Lindsey’s strengths are in her calm and caring nature, which allows her to never be flustered and is excellent at problem-solving in moments of difficulty. Lindsey has also shown strength in her staff management skills, in being able to effectively communicate Coast Care Homes's vision for all staff joining the company.
