The Whitebeach is a hub community home specialisng in dementia care offering daycare, home care, respite and residential care services.

All bedrooms have en suite facilities and some are suitable for couples.

The day centre opens out onto a large decking area which overlooks a beautiful sensory garden with stimulating colours, smells, running water and a reminiscing caravan.

Coast Care Homes meets each resident's varied and differing needs, ensuring that every resident enjoys the quality of independent living that they deserve.

The Whitebeach has a full-time activities programme and runs three minibus trips a week.

Staff at Coast Care are constantly updating their skills and knowledge and try to keep up to date with the most progressive developments in dementia care.

Dad has settled very well at this excellent home. The staff are absolutely brilliant and all Dad's needs are catered for. I cannot recommend The Whitebeach highly enough. They are fantastic.

My Mum has been going to The Whitebeach Care home as a non-residential attendee since the beginning of July. She has dementia and is cared for by my Dad at their home. We have been looking for the right care provider for her that really enables her to remain active, to have fun, to socialise but also
to be in a safe environment. The Whitebeach Care facility has absolutely exceeded our expectations. My Mum lights up when she arrives and really enjoys herself here and it's met what she needs, absolutely. It's given a welcome break for my Dad too. The house is spotless, the staff are really friendly, helpful and the atmosphere is welcoming, with the residents and day attendees treated with respect and with warmth. I couldn't recommend this more highly. The best care provider in the area.

I organised to take my parents to Whitebeach for a holiday from their care home in Birmingham. They loved it and didn't want to leave. I was not at all surprised; the food was first class, the staff professional, friendly and fun and the management were approachable, supportive and accommodating. The
activities were varied and my parents also enjoyed bus trips, a car trip to a place of their choice and, in particular, an afternoon at the group's caravan (with tea and biscuits on tap). I'm delighted that after a meeting with the Executive Head of Outcomes and Placements, who met with us to discuss my parents' future, we were able to move them into one of the group's neighbouring homes in Bexhill on Sea which better suited their needs and where they're experiencing the same levels of kindness and support that they did at Whitebeach. I highly recommend Coast Care Homes, and it's reassuring to know that they are able to offer varying care in each of their homes should my parents' needs change, avoiding a major upheaval.

Very caring home, with plenty of staff always involved with the residents, offering different activities, drinks and snacks. When my father was severely ill, the care was excellent, including the level of nursing that he needed. The support given to me at this time was also much appreciated.

My uncle has been here at Whitebeach for a number of months now after a long stay in hospital. This was such a hard decision for the family to come to but that said, he could not be in a better home. The kind, compassionate team go above and beyond and this shows in so many ways, this feels more like
a big house that they all live in rather than a clinical home. It is so clean in all areas and the food is so fresh, they monitor his food and drink intake and I am regularly updated on his health. The number of activities and different trips they have going on are brilliant, it's been so lovely to be part of this and now that Covid restrictions are getting better to be able to see uncle in his environment gives us more comfort. When I leave after my visit, I am not sad because I know he is in great hands and I look forward to our next. I would like to thank the team at Whitebeach for the respect and ongoing care you all give to my uncle.

The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. Genuinely care for my mother. Nothing is too much trouble. Excellent at keeping us informed about Mum's health concerns, etc. It has lots of activities and bus trips, and the home looks very festive according to the season, Christmas, Halloween, Easter,
Independence Day, etc.

Mum came to The Whitbeach just before Mothering Sunday. She settled in the garden, wandered through the corridors and told us how posh the place was. We have phoned regularly to check how Mum is settling in and are always happy to be told of Mum's antics. The staff here are very supportive to Mum and
us alike. The smile Mum gives us when we visit is priceless. Mum is so happy again, it's a reassurance for us.

We have definitely made the right decision to put our mum in The Whitebeach. She is safe, happy and well looked after. The staff are very professional, caring and always willing to chat to us about our mum. It's lovely to be able to sit in their beautiful gardens with a cup of tea and have a chat. Mum
loves the little Jack Russell dog called Buddy.

Recently both my brother-in-law and sister-in-law arrived at The Whitebeach. So far as we have seen, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. They both have already commented on the lovely food and we can only hope with the care and kindness of all at Whitebeach, they will settle into this new place
of their lives. We return to the USA, relieved that they are both being taken care of.

Apart from the cleanliness of all areas and rooms, the decoration is fresh and many pictures relate to the ages of residents. The staff appear to be well trained and quick to respond to residents' calls. The food is fresh and varied. An onsite multiple purpose vehicle allows residents to enjoy outside

We all worry about our parents as they get older and given the events of the past two years, it was all too easy to worry further still with the threat of Covid making its way into care homes and affecting those most vulnerable. Myself and my family were all worried but at the same time felt confident
that Mum was in the very best hands. I won't talk solely about the pandemic because that's not at the root of how caring the team are at The Whitebeach - it simply highlighted their skill and dedication. The team have always been that way and always kept us all up-to-date brilliantly regarding all aspects of Mum's health. Communication is key for any care home and I can't thank the team enough for how they have all looked after Mum since day one and in turn, helped our family be at ease knowing she is kept safe, well, entertained and happy.

Another year on and Whitebeach are still providing quality care for my elderly mother. Staff are kind and respectful and are always keeping us informed of her needs and well-being. Unfortunately, the activities plans haven’t been as full as it has been in the past, due to covid but we hope to see that
come back, when it’s safe to do so. Overall, I trust Whitebeach with the care of my mother and she seems very happy to live there.

My mother was moved to this care home in May this year. We were all worried about the move as she has Alzheimer’s and struggles with change and with all the Covid restrictions as well, we were very nervous. From day one, the home has been fantastic. When I visit, I have noticed that she is dressed nicely
(not inside out) and her clothes are clean. There are always activities going on and trips out, which my mum loves. Although I have not been inside the home, the staff that I have met are very genuine and very caring. There is a group in which I get regular updates and photos of my mum which is brilliant (thanks). I also never have any problems getting through on the phone, if I need to book an appointment to visit or just to ask how Mum is. We are so happy that Mum has settled in and that is down to the fantastic staff in The Whitebeach.

My mum only went into the home 12 days ago. Everyone has been so kind to her and made a confusing situation much easier for her. She has done so many activities already and I can see a good improvement in her already. She has told me that she loves it there.

Three years after my partner’s diagnosis, we spent a ‘taster day’ at The Whitebeach. We felt very welcome and I was impressed by the respect accorded to the residents by all the staff. My partner went to Day Care once a fortnight before Lockdown. She enjoyed singing, art, and outings. She came back
happy, and I had total confidence that her needs were met. Most things in her life are initiated by me, and Whitebeach gave her something of her own - if we met staff members in town, she could introduce them to me. My partner recently had her first Respite at Whitebeach. Staff so willingly undertook all the preparation involved, despite the shortness of the stay. They took such trouble to learn all about her, so her stay was enjoyable. I had a welcome break, and she came home relaxed, saying she had enjoyed herself and everyone was so kind. Finding The Whitebeach has put my mind at rest. We hope to benefit from Respite regularly, and I know I could turn to them if I was ill or if my partner needed longer term care.

My partner has been a resident for nearly a year now, and he seems very happy. I am sometimes upset at how cold he feels when I visit, and very often his pads are very wet and in need of changing, but it is dealt with immediately.

Kevin

Kevin Dewhurst

Job Title: Owner Joined: 2003

Kevin, alongside his wife Lynda, started the company in 2003 when they purchased Whitebriars. Before this, Kevin had spent most of his career in the construction industry, before he decided he needed a career change.


Whilst Kevin did not have a background in care before this, Kevin quickly identified the areas of care that were failing and made it his mission to ensure Coast Care Homes Ltd was a leader in providing innovative outcomes and outstanding person-centred care. Kevin has been ever-present at all services and supports the management teams daily, offering experience and guidance.


Kevin’s inspiration came from David Sheard from Dementia Care Matters, and the ethos instilled by Kevin is present in all the services.

Lynda

Lynda Dewhurst

Lynda, alongside her husband Kevin, started the company in 2003 when they purchased Whitebriars.


Lynda has been involved with the shaping of Coast Care Homes since the beginning and has been a driver in ensuring the homes are welcoming and have a homely feel. Lynda has been integral in helping to ensure the company has a positive Social Media presence, which has contributed massively towards the excellent reputation that Coast Care Homes have in the East Sussex area.


Lynda’s day-to-day involvement is in guiding the Activities & Outcomes team, to ensure Coast Care Homes sets itself apart from other local homes in the area, by providing Outstanding Outcomes. Danielle Henderson

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2010

Danielle Henderson has worked for Coast Care Homes for over 13 years. From the start of her employment with Coast Care, she has always shown great passion, empathy, and loving support to those she has cared for.


This approach has translated to other relationships with residents' families, health professionals and staff teams.


Danielle has risen from a carer role to Team Leader, Deputy Manager, Home Manager and now an Operations Manager.


Danielle is a fantastic communicator and motivator, she spends many hours in constant supervision building her management and staff teams and helping them to deliver an extremely high level of person-centred care. She ultimately though, has a very special and consistent relationship with her residents, always trying to discover more of their own unique personalities and working hard with her staff and activities teams to connect and meet all their emotional and physical needs.


Danielle has helped to foster efficient and hardworking teams, whose primary focus is ensuring that the residents have the best lived experience. Danielle is currently involved in an Operational sense for all the services, however, she has day-to-day involvement with Whitebriars Care Home, Whitebeach Care Home & Whitecliff Nursing Home, supporting the management teams at these services.

Bill

Bill Poore

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2012

Bill started with Coast Care in September 2012, starting at Whitecliff Care Home as a Care Assistant. Bill joined Coast Care after caring for his grandad who suffered from Dementia & Parkinson’s Disease.


Bill has a Level 5 Degree in Health & Social Care and has worked in several roles within the company, including as Manager at Coast Community Care, Whitebriars and Coast Care Centre. Bill has helped to foster a caring culture within the homes and has helped to develop processes that allow the Coast Care Culture to be given to clients who have Complex Nursing needs.


Bill’s strengths are in his focus on promoting high revenues and increasing profitability, contributing to increased revenue streams across the services managed.


Bill is currently involved in an Operational sense for all the services, however, he has day-to-day involvement with Coast Care Centre & Coast Community Care, supporting the management teams at these services.

Lindsey

Lindsey Sherwood

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2022

Lindsey started with Coast Care in January 2022, joining the company as an Operations Manager. Lindsey has lots of experience in care, and before joining Coast Care Homes, had been overseeing other homes locally. Lindsey is passionate about person-centred care and it’s because of this, that she has been such a good fit at Coast Care Homes.


Lindsey’s strengths are in her calm and caring nature, which allows her to never be flustered and is excellent at problem-solving in moments of difficulty. Lindsey has also shown strength in her staff management skills, in being able to effectively communicate Coast Care Homes's vision for all staff joining the company.


Lindsey is currently involved in an Operational sense for all the services, however, she has day-to-day involvement with Whitebriars Care Home, Whitebeach Care Home & Whitecliff Nursing Home, supporting the management teams at these services.
