The Whitebeach is a hub community home specialisng in dementia care offering daycare, home care, respite and residential care services.

All bedrooms have en suite facilities and some are suitable for couples.

The day centre opens out onto a large decking area which overlooks a beautiful sensory garden with stimulating colours, smells, running water and a reminiscing caravan.

Coast Care Homes meets each resident's varied and differing needs, ensuring that every resident enjoys the quality of independent living that they deserve.

The Whitebeach has a full-time activities programme and runs three minibus trips a week.

From the very first time of visiting The Whitebeach I had a happy feeling of the home. I am a very particular person and can sum up situations immediately and I had great vibes from the staff I met during the time my friend has been a resident. I have found everyone that I have had contact with very
caring throughout. I would recommend the home to my family and friends.

The first thing I noticed when I entered Whitebeach was music - lively music! Despite dementia, my mum isn't a 'sit in the chair and snooze' type, so it's been a huge relief to find Whitebeach. The staff are incredible, and there are plenty of them. I've never seen one person without a smile and a warm
greeting, they are simply wonderful. My mum's room is great with an ensuite shower room. I love all the little details - the home-from-home 'front doors' to each room, the zoned areas and the day centre are well laid out so that there is a buzz of activity. More important than all that, every time I see my mum she is happy, clean, with her make-up on - just like she was before the dementia. She gets out on lots of trips, to the beach, town, and cafe to keep life feeling as normal as possible. This is a special place, where every resident is treated like a person, not a patient. The whole place is clean, well looked after and safe and I couldn't be happier that my mum gets to stay here!

All of the staff at Whitebeach are clearly dedicated to their profession. Not only are they attentive to the residents but also to the families. When my dad arrived in Whitebeach he was particularly difficult to cope with but after being there for one year he is now very different. All of which is down
to the care of the staff.

The atmosphere on arriving at Whitebeach is so inviting, the staff were so friendly and unlike so many other care homes I have visited, nobody is sitting in chairs asleep, everybody is doing things. The dedicated activities staff make it a pleasure to behold. The residents seem to go out the minibus
a couple of times a week and there is a pervading air of positivity that I love. My wife's room is great and having had meals myself, there you can vouch for the quality. Tea and biscuits are in abundant supply. The whole set up it seems has been throughout with residents in mind. I am very happy to have found this gem in a sea of standardisation. 5 stars.

My client was transferred to Whitebeach in the first half of February 2024. I am his PA.


On our initial visit, it was so obvious that:
1. This team of staff truly care.
2. The person-centred approach stood out, the warmth of the staff, and the home set-up was not institutional. It was so nice

to find a place that understood the importance and residents were happy in their care and felt safe and validated.


Staff were responsive to his needs and keen to learn as much about him as possible. Always available and actively listening to all information about him and his needs. The 1st day spent with my client I was positively overwhelmed. Teams with varied roles all doing a grand job. My client is in a great place, with 30 years working in care I was elated to find that such excellence in the delivery of care existed. Often care is basic with elements missing in many settings, homes do their best but when resources are not in place it truly shows. This place is absolutely fabulous, I love it. Well done!

The staff are welcoming and friendly, you quickly understand they are fully invested in creating a happy and calm atmosphere. They are attentive and supportive, making the resident and visitors feel comfortable. We were offered lunch on the terrace which I appreciated so we could spend precious time
together and relax in comfort. The staff are always on hand, supportive but not intrusive. They are watchful and resourceful. I had great fun joining in the activities. I am very happy my dear friend is safe and comfortable in this very special place. I have great confidence in the standards at the home, not only in their caring but in their gentle and respectful manner.

My friend has been at the home for nearly five years and has always been treated with respect and been well cared for by lovely staff who have supported him at all times. As point of contact, I have always been kept up to date with any concerns and changes in his medication or care.

My husband was admitted to The Whitebeach five weeks ago. From the start, the staff were so efficient and caring. My husband is not the easiest of residents. He is difficult with what he will eat but they are so patient with him. The home, overall, is a very happy home for the residents and their visitors.
I would recommend their home to anyone.

Being at The Whitebeach has given my mum a life again. She tells me she loves it there and, as an only child, she feels part of a family. For the first time since her Alzheimer's symptoms began, she is calm, settled and happy. I cannot praise the staff enough for their kindness in how they care for
her as an individual. She takes pleasure in life again now that she is fully supported in all aspects of her care and in living her life. The atmosphere the staff have created is kind, inclusive, personalised and fun and she benefits directly from this by being happy and better than she has been throughout her illness.

From the moment I contacted The Whitebeach by phone I was impressed by the friendly and helpful manner of the staff. On my subsequent visit to a friend who is a resident, I found the staff welcoming and friendly. There was a nice calm atmosphere about the place and the residents I saw in the day room
looked well cared for with a high staff ratio and individual attention. I was offered a cup of coffee on my arrival, shown to my friend and we were able to sit and have a conversation together.
I was particularly impressed by the “Whitebeach Dignity Tree”, a mural painted on the wall with well-thought-out aims/objectives posted around the tree.

It's always so hard to see your mum how she is but these guys at The Whitebeach make it so much easier to deal with.
I love that there is always something going on, always busy with lots of activities.
I love the energy they have and truly make an effort with Mum and the others no matter how difficult
it can be at times.

My mum moved in a few weeks ago after a prolonged stay in hospital and an unsatisfactory residence at another care home, so I wanted to make sure that her new home would be more suited to her needs. Whitebeach has exceeded my expectations! The staff couldn't be friendlier or more welcoming. Even before
Mum moved in, the management took the time to meet with her and answer any questions she had and they were so helpful to me too. The day Mum moved in, staff came by her room to introduce themselves and say how happy they were to meet her. This was a wonderful way to make her feel welcome from the very start and Mum had a big smile on her face. Her room is a good size and being able to have it just the way the resident wants is another positive for Whitebeach. Her laundry is done and bedsheets are regularly changed, Mum says it's like staying in a posh hotel. The food is delicious, and the activities and trips are wonderful too. I can't recommend Whitebeach enough. We are very happy.

My mother moved in at the end of October and now lives less than four minutes from where I am. She moved from the busyness of London, a one-bedroom flat, which she couldn't manage by herself, to a lovely room with a view in St Leonards where all her needs are met. The building is like living in one's
home and the staff always take time to say hello and acknowledge my presence when I visit. The option is there for the resident to get involved with different activities and at the same time, there is no pressure to join in. My mother prefers to stay in her room and is encouraged to come out and meet people, which she sometimes does. I am stress-free as a result of this move. I can't thank the staff at The Whitebeach enough. I really recommend this as a place to house your loved ones if they need that little bit of extra special care. Thank you.

Kevin Dewhurst

Job Title: Owner Joined: 2003

Kevin, alongside his wife Lynda, started the company in 2003 when they purchased Whitebriars. Before this, Kevin had spent most of his career in the construction industry, before he decided he needed a career change.


Whilst Kevin did not have a background in care before this, Kevin quickly identified the areas of care that were failing and made it his mission to ensure Coast Care Homes Ltd was a leader in providing innovative outcomes and outstanding person-centred care. Kevin has been ever-present at all services and supports the management teams daily, offering experience and guidance.

Lynda

Lynda Dewhurst

Job Title: Owner Joined: 2003

Lynda, alongside her husband Kevin, started the company in 2003 when they purchased Whitebriars.


Lynda has been involved with the shaping of Coast Care Homes since the beginning and has been a driver in ensuring the homes are welcoming and have a homely feel. Lynda has been integral in helping to ensure the company has a positive Social Media presence, which has contributed massively towards the excellent reputation that Coast Care Homes have in the East Sussex area.


Lynda’s day-to-day involvement is in guiding the Activities & Outcomes team, to ensure Coast Care Homes sets itself apart from other local homes in the area, by providing Outstanding Outcomes. Lynda is also heavily involved in planning regular Staff Appreciation events, ensuring that staff feel valued when working for Coast Care Homes and improving staff retention.

Danielle

Danielle Henderson

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2010

Danielle Henderson has worked for Coast Care Homes for over 13 years. From the start of her employment with Coast Care, she has always shown great passion, empathy, and loving support to those she has cared for.


This approach has translated to other relationships with residents' families, health professionals and staff teams.


Danielle has risen from a carer role to Team Leader, Deputy Manager, Home Manager and now an Operations Manager.


Danielle is a fantastic communicator and motivator, she spends many hours in constant supervision building her management and staff teams and helping them to deliver an extremely high level of person-centred care. She ultimately though, has a very special and consistent relationship with her residents, always trying to discover more of their own unique personalities and working hard with her staff and activities teams to connect and meet all their emotional and physical needs.


Danielle has helped to foster efficient and hardworking teams, whose primary focus is ensuring that the residents have the best lived experience. Danielle is currently involved in an Operational sense for all the services, however, she has day-to-day involvement with Whitebriars Care Home, Whitebeach Care Home & Whitecliff Nursing Home, supporting the management teams at these services.

Bill

Bill Poore

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2012

Bill started with Coast Care in September 2012, starting at Whitecliff Care Home as a Care Assistant. Bill joined Coast Care after caring for his grandad who suffered from Dementia & Parkinson’s Disease.


Bill has a Level 5 Degree in Health & Social Care and has worked in several roles within the company, including as Manager at Coast Community Care, Whitebriars and Coast Care Centre. Bill has helped to foster a caring culture within the homes and has helped to develop processes that allow the Coast Care Culture to be given to clients who have Complex Nursing needs.


Bill’s strengths are in his focus on promoting high revenues and increasing profitability, contributing to increased revenue streams across the services managed.


Bill is currently involved in an Operational sense for all the services, however, he has day-to-day involvement with Coast Care Centre & Coast Community Care, supporting the management teams at these services.

Lindsey

Lindsey Sherwood

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2022

Lindsey started with Coast Care in January 2022, joining the company as an Operations Manager. Lindsey has lots of experience in care, and before joining Coast Care Homes, had been overseeing other homes locally. Lindsey is passionate about person-centred care and it’s because of this, that she has been such a good fit at Coast Care Homes.


Lindsey’s strengths are in her calm and caring nature, which allows her to never be flustered and is excellent at problem-solving in moments of difficulty. Lindsey has also shown strength in her staff management skills, in being able to effectively communicate Coast Care Homes's vision for all staff joining the company.


Lindsey is currently involved in an Operational sense for all the services, however, she has day-to-day involvement with Whitebriars Care Home, Whitebeach Care Home & Whitecliff Nursing Home, supporting the management teams at these services.
