Everyone is friendly and the staff go above and beyond for my aunt, to give her and all residents the best experience. The staff have communicated with family regularly and when needed, and always welcomed us when we visited. Our observations showed us people are treated with kindness, respect and dignity.
Staff are very attentive and understand people's individual needs.

My mum moved into Abbots this week and I really thought she wouldn't settle but within a day she has already made friends and is calm and relaxed there. When I visited I was told she was downstairs in the activity room joining in karaoke. My mum has never in her entire 90 years joined in anything like
this and to see her smiling and singing along really made my day. She's joined in karaoke a few times, joined in the coffee morning and been to film club. I can't believe the transformation in such a short space of time. The residents have welcomed her which has really helped and all the staff that I've seen have been absolutely amazing, calm, kind, helpful, cheerful in fact nothing is too much trouble. Abbots has a really lovely homely feel to it and knowing my mum is so happy and settled has really eased the terrible guilt I feel.

My brother has been a resident for a year now at the care home. There is always a good welcome and atmosphere within the home. There are plenty of daily organised activities. Any concerns are picked up and acted on promptly, with good communication. I have found the care staff on my brother's unit to
be exceptional.

My Mum spent the last several months of her life at Abbot Care Home, from October 2024 until May 2025 after being placed there for end of life care. I cannot thank the staff enough. My Mum knew she was loved and cared for by the staff, I would visit daily and I saw the relationships built between my
Mum and all the staff (and I mean all the staff) from the carers, nurses, domestics, managers, activities staff.

She was always treated with dignity and respect, she was happy and always had a smile for them, or a little nickname, nothing was too much trouble. Sadly we lost Mum in May this year, but when other charities or company's say they are there for you, but they aren't. It is different with Abbot Care Home, we the family still matter, they check to see how we are doing.

If you are looking for a care home for long term care or respite care, from my experience I would recommend them and the staff who work there.

Reply from Susan Deol, Home Manager at Abbot Care HomeDear family member of Abbot care home, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such heartfelt words about your mum's time with us at Abbot Care Home. It was truly a privilege to care for her and to get to know you and your family over those months. We are deeply touched to hear that your mum felt loved, respected, and happy here, and that you were able to witness those bonds first-hand. Our team strives to provide not only the highest standard of care but also genuine warmth and connection, both to our residents and their families. We are so sorry for your loss, and we want you to know that you will always remain part of the Abbot Care Home family. We will continue to be here for you whenever you need us. With warmest regards From all the team at Abbot's care home.

My last review was in Feb 2023 when Mum was a very new resident in KFI unit. Now, over 2 years later, I am really pleased to say she's still as happy, now, as she was then. Care is still excellent. She is treated with much kindness and dignity. She enjoys the food and although she does not attend any
activities, she enjoys the times activities staff pop in for a chat with her. One thing I feel would improve KFI unit is a dishwasher. I think it would be far more hygienic and also save already overworked and busy carers some valuable time.
Reply from Susan Deol, Home Manager at Abbot Care HomeDear family member Thank you so much for taking the time to share such kind and thoughtful feedback, it truly means a lot to all of us .We're so pleased to hear that your mum is still as happy now as she was when she first arrived, it's the best reassurance we could hope for. Knowing she feels comfortable, respected, and well cared for is exactly what we strive for every day. It's lovely to hear that she enjoys the food and appreciates the friendly chats with our activities team. Even the smallest interactions can make a big difference, and it's heartening to know they brighten her day. We also appreciate you raising the suggestion about installing a dishwasher in the unit. At present, dishes from KFI are taken to the main kitchen for cleaning, as space within the unit itself is quite limited. However, we absolutely understand your concerns around hygiene and staff time, and we will be following this up to see if there are any potential options or improvements. Best wishes

Since the day my brother went into Abbott Care Home, Kingfisher 2 Unit I have nothing but praise for this wonderful Home. Everyone of the staff have been just incredible. Always very professional, patient, kind and caring to him and to us as a family whenever we visited. The communication has been
brilliant which was very important as we live a long way from the area and whenever I contacted them they always made me feel my brother was a special person in his own right, not just another resident. Nothing was too much trouble and we took great comfort knowing he was being cared for so wonderfully. . We will always be indebted to you and I can honestly say we would not have wanted him to be anywhere else for this last stage of his earthly journey. I can't recommend you highly enough. A heartfelt "thank you" for everything.

Our team always strives to treat every resident as the unique and valued individual they are, and knowing that this came through to you, especially from a distance means everything to us.We understand how important strong communication is, particularly when families are far away, and we're so glad we could offer reassurance and support during that time. It was a privilege to care for your brother, and we will remember him fondly. On behalf of the entire team, thank you again for your trust, your kind words, and for allowing us to be part of his final chapter. We wish you and your family continued strength and comfort. With warmest regardsFrom all the Abbot care home team.

The staff are excellent when consistent. Staff absence and holidays can't be helped but would be so much better as new staff don't always know the residents' needs. The food is lovely and a wide range of choice. Mum is very happy here.

People get more value for money than me. Because at the moment, I can do a lot for myself, including helping others. Food and laundry have improved, awaiting a special monthly room clean. Daytime care is excellent. Nighttime varies. I can't find any fault with my care. There are faults, but they don't
affect me.

Please know we're always reviewing our practices to ensure consistency across all shifts.Your ability to remain independent and even support others is something we truly admire. 1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.858 for Abbot Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (558 Excellents x 5) + (73 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 640 Ratings = 4.858
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbot Care Home is based on 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 117 registered maximum number of service users is 23.4, which has been reached with 54 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
