Offering homely comforts alongside a boutique finish, Abbot Care Home has many excellent facilities and spaces to enjoy. The experienced and qualified team, many of whom live nearby in Harlow, Chelmsford and Stanstead, place residents at the heart of everything they do. Early 2023 saw the opening of the new care suite at Abbot Care Home. Named in honour of her late Majesty’s Jubilee celebrations in 2022, the purpose-built suite has been carefully designed to offer compassionate and dignified care that promotes a meaningful lifestyle of confidence and independence, supporting people who live with dementia.

My Mum spent the last several months of her life at Abbot Care Home, from October 2024 until May 2025 after being placed there for end of life care. I cannot thank the staff enough. My Mum knew she was loved and cared for by the staff, I would visit daily and I saw the relationships built between my
Mum and all the staff (and I mean all the staff) from the carers, nurses, domestics, managers, activities staff.


She was always treated with dignity and respect, she was happy and always had a smile for them, or a little nickname, nothing was too much trouble. Sadly we lost Mum in May this year, but when other charities or company's say they are there for you, but they aren't. It is different with Abbot Care Home, we the family still matter, they check to see how we are doing.


If you are looking for a care home for long term care or respite care, from my experience I would recommend them and the staff who work there.

My last review was in Feb 2023 when Mum was a very new resident in KFI unit. Now, over 2 years later, I am really pleased to say she's still as happy, now, as she was then. Care is still excellent. She is treated with much kindness and dignity. She enjoys the food and although she does not attend any
activities, she enjoys the times activities staff pop in for a chat with her. One thing I feel would improve KFI unit is a dishwasher. I think it would be far more hygienic and also save already overworked and busy carers some valuable time.

Since the day my brother went into Abbott Care Home, Kingfisher 2 Unit I have nothing but praise for this wonderful Home. Everyone of the staff have been just incredible. Always very professional, patient, kind and caring to him and to us as a family whenever we visited. The communication has been
brilliant which was very important as we live a long way from the area and whenever I contacted them they always made me feel my brother was a special person in his own right, not just another resident. Nothing was too much trouble and we took great comfort knowing he was being cared for so wonderfully. . We will always be indebted to you and I can honestly say we would not have wanted him to be anywhere else for this last stage of his earthly journey. I can't recommend you highly enough. Felt thoroughly welcomed from the start. The team looked after me and chatted. The food was plentiful and tasty. This team also kept my evening sandwich meals for a later time to suit me. The activities were varied and interesting. The activities lady was really friendly. The team in the Jubilee suite

I can't fault the general care and attention Dad receives. His attendance at activities is the highlight of each day and has improved his demeanour. My mum joined the home on the 1st of March so a new resident. She is looked after & cared for very well. She has a choice of what to eat. Daily activities if she wishes to join in. Staff are friendly and caring. She doesn't feel lonely or bored, she is happy, I am happy.

This is the third care home my relative has lived in and by far the best. My relative is very happy at Abbot Care Home. They like the carers, the food and the general vibe. The carers are wonderful where nothing is too much trouble, issues if any are listened to and dealt with. The care my relative
receives is excellent. Communication with family members is good, we are involved in our relatives care at all levels. The home offers an excellent activity list, there is something for everyone and new activities are always being introduced according to residents wishes. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Abbot Care Home to others.

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional care, kindness and compassion you show my mum every day.
It is such a comfort to know that she is surrounded by dedicated and caring individuals who go above and beyond to make her feel safe, valued and supported. Your patience,

Susan joined the Abbot Care Home team on 7th July 2025, and brings
with her over 34 years of experience in the adult health and social care sector.


She specialises in the care of older people, including people who live with dementia. Throughout her career, she has worked within nursing, residential, palliative, day-care, and domiciliary care services.
   
Susan is passionate about providing high-quality care to older people. She looks forward to working in partnership with the people who live at Abbot, their families, and the care home team, to ensure expectations are being met and high standards are maintained.

Sabitha is a dedicated and caring leader, having joined the Excelcare family in November 2019 as a Nurse and worked her way up to be the Care Manager of Abbot Care Home. Sabitha has been a qualified nurse since 2003 in India, before she moved to the UK in 2016, and has been a UK registered nurse since 2017, with one year of experience as a Care Manager and 15 years of being a Mum.

I am very proud to have been a part of the Excelcare team since 2010, initially working within the Essex Regional Team as the Administration Partner across the eleven homes in the Essex Region. During this time, I was honoured to receive annual awards for three of those years. In March 2025, I was given the exciting opportunity to join Abbot Care Home as the Hospitality Manager. My role involves managing all hospitality services to ensure that the people living in the home enjoy a welcoming, comfortable, and enjoyable environment. I focus on the quality of meals, housekeeping, and providing an overall excellent experience for those who live there.


With extensive experience in Catering and Housekeeping management, I am dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service. I am passionate about creating a warm, homely atmosphere that enhances the lives of the people we care for and their families.


I am the proud owner of two rescue dogs and, more recently, a campervan. I look forward to exploring new places with my four-legged companions. In my spare time, I enjoy crafts, cooking, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.

I ensure the smooth running of our office, supporting both team members and the people that live in the home with efficiency and a friendly approach. I love keeping everything organised and making sure everyone has what they need to do their best work.


I have excellent organisational skills, time management, data management, and event coordination. I also enjoy problem-solving and streamlining office processes.


Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and children.


Long country walks, visiting the seaside where my parents live and finding all the different little boutique shops and coffee shops.

I have been a nurse for over 8 years and value the importance of compassionate and person-centred care. I enjoy working with older adults and incorporating effective teamwork to ensure the people who live in our home feel safe, valued, supported, and are receiving the best care possible.

Outside of work, I love to spend time with family and friends, attend musical events, paint, go sightseeing, and explore new recipes and cuisines.

I have been a nurse in the U.K. for over 3 years, caring for older adults with compassion and professionalism. I focus on providing person-centred care, ensuring residents feel safe, supported, and valued every day. Seeing a smile on the face of someone I support, knowing that I have helped them to accomplish something, it by participating in an activity or by simply assisting them and lending a hand to move from one point to another, gives me great satisfaction.


Medication management, wound care, dementia care, patient advocacy, and mentoring junior team members.


Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, listening to music, reading mystery/detective novels, and spending quality time with my family.
