Offering homely comforts alongside a boutique finish, Abbot Care Home has many excellent facilities and spaces to enjoy. The experienced and qualified team, many of whom live nearby in Harlow, Chelmsford and Stanstead, place residents at the heart of everything they do. Early 2023 saw the opening of the new care suite at Abbot Care Home. Named in honour of her late Majesty’s Jubilee celebrations in 2022, the purpose-built suite has been carefully designed to offer compassionate and dignified care that promotes a meaningful lifestyle of confidence and independence, supporting people who live with dementia.

My father has been in this home for a year now and my family and I consider ourselves very lucky to have found this home. The staff are first class and go out of their way to help relatives and patients alike happy and informed. Facilities are amazing and the care of the highest calibre. This home should

My friend has only been there a few days but he's settled nicely. All the staff, from orderly to manager show a friendly, helpful and compassionate attitude to residents and visitors. Food looks better than the last care home and we've been told they are changing it all to fresh food prepared and cooked
at the home.
All staff are there to help whenever needed. Think I'll book my room now!

Wonderful caring going on in this home. We have a new manager and whilst the previous one was good, I feel the new one will make new inroads into activities and make the home come alive for the residents even more. She has lots of ideas which are fresh and invigorating and she will make them work. She
organised a BBQ - her first activity. Despite the rain, it was a fabulous afternoon. A resident provided the music and was the DJ.

No major complaints. The staff are very good with the odd exception. Food needs improvement which I understand from the meeting with the new manager this is being addressed. Nurses are very good. Rooms could do with some TLC and better bedding

My mum seems happy here. Although nothing can be perfect, I feel mum is as happy and well cared for as is possible in a care home. The staff are well trained and treat the residents with respect and kindness even though they seem very busy and not always enough staff.

The staff on Mallard are first rate. They never sit down, always looking for the next person to care for, turn, feed.
They have helped my father no end after some disaster 'care' in hospital.

My husband is well cared for. The staff are very caring and make sure everyone is comfortable and happy. They interact with everyone. The food is good and cleanliness is very good.

Susan joined the Abbot Care Home team on 7th July 2025, and brings
with her over 34 years of experience in the adult health and social care sector.


She specialises in the care of older people, including people who live with dementia. Throughout her career, she has worked within nursing, residential, palliative, day-care, and domiciliary care services.
   
Susan is passionate about providing high-quality care to older people. She looks forward to working in partnership with the people who live at Abbot, their families, and the care home team, to ensure expectations are being met and high standards are maintained.

Sabitha is a dedicated and caring leader, having joined the Excelcare-family in November 2019 as a Nurse and worked her way up to be the Care Manager of Abbot Care Home. Sabitha has been a qualified nurse since 2003 in India before she moved to the UK in 2016 and has been a UK registered nurse since 2017 with one year of experience as a Care Manager and 15 years of being a Mum.
