All of the nursing and caring staff have been helpful and happy to answer any questions we have had. We are extremely happy with the care my wife has been receiving

I find the home extremely well organised, well cleaned and very comfortable. The room sizes are very large in comparison with other home I have seen in the past. All of the staff are very helpful and the management are excellent. The manager is an extremely caring person, just the ticket to run a home
of this kind.

My mother moved in February from another home and she was amazed at her lovely room and how nice the staff were to her. Since then, I have noticed a significant improvement in her health and well-being, as a result of the high standard of care and compassion given by the staff. My mother now engages
in the variety of activities that are available to the residents, which she thoroughly enjoys. The management and staff keep me fully informed of any news and have been brilliant to both my mother and me, throughout. I cannot emphasise enough to anyone reading this review the high standard of care and accommodation at the home. At last, she seems very happy and I can now relax knowing she is in such capable hands.

My mum moved here from a nursing home in December and since then has been so much happier and settled. Her room and facilities are great and the leadership team and staff have been amazing. I’ve received regular emails from managers ensuring I’m kept up to date on everything and the caring staff have
been very patient and kind to mum, which she reiterates to me daily. So glad she’s here.
Reply from Ruth Halls, Home Manager at Abbot Care HomeDear Lotty, thank you very much for your review and kind words. We work hard as a team to ensure that we deliver person-centred care and ensuring that you’re part of this process is equally important to us. We are delighted how Mum is settling and welcome any further guidance from you to help us get to know Mum further. Please do let me know if you can think of any further ways we can improve the service.

Dad has been a resident at Abbot Care Home since Oct 21. From the moment I enquired about Abbot the response, information, support, was first class: this, combined with the immediate good vibe I felt when visiting for the first time - made, what was a difficult and emotional decision, very easy. All
personnel are friendly, polite, supportive, and genuinely caring. Dad settled very quickly, feels safe, looked after, and cared for. He loves his room, the food, and most importantly the interaction with other residents and those caring for him. After what has been a difficult few years for our family and with the loss of my Mum in 2020: we now feel secure in the knowledge that the level and quality of care Dad is receiving, in such a safe, happy environment, is giving him a far better quality of life. I have nothing but respect and gratitude to all at Abbot for welcoming my Dad and making him feel truly at home.
Reply from Ruth Halls, Home Manager at Abbot Care HomeDear Anne thank you for your kind words. We are grateful for your support and encouragement as it enables us to be confident that we are looking after Dad in the way you would like us to. Thank you very much.

My cousin has been a resident at Abbot Care Home for the past couple of months, it's wonderful seeing him looking relaxed and enjoying life more. The carers have a great banter with my cousin which makes him feel at home. So pleased we are able to visit him and enjoy the lovely gardens. It is a very
new experience for me and my family and everyone whomever we meet goes out of their way to make us feel at home. Looking forward to meeting more of the residents as my cousin settles in. We searched a long time before making our decision, I would definitely recommend this Care Home.
Reply from Ruth Halls, Home Manager at Abbot Care HomeThank you very much for your kind words, our team is very aware of how the transition can be coming when moving in. We will continue to work hard to do this but do value all feedback for us to improve wherever we need to. I'm very pleased with the care my mum is receiving. She has been in multiple care homes and Abbotts has been the best by far. She has had one incident where she wasn't ready for a pre-arranged visit and we had to wait for her which used up a lot of the visiting time, but this has been rectified. The
reception can be difficult to get hold of sometimes which can be frustrating. These are minor complaints however considering the care she receives, especially considering the difficult times we are all going through and I am aware the care system has been hit very hard. The care my mum receives is excellent and the staff are very attentive. I'm grateful for her place at Abbott's care home. Kingfisher ward 1 are very friendly and treat my mum with care, respect, and a smile and I appreciate the playful humour I've seen her receive, I know she likes it. During covid, we couldn't see her sometimes and it was good to know that she was safe and well.
Reply from Ruth Halls, Home Manager at Abbot Care HomeThank you for your lovely review and for acknowledging the difficult time everyone has been through in such a supportive way. The manager of the home and manager on Mum's floor and their team have shown incredible support, understanding and care from the moment we met them. Every member of the team has been welcoming. The home is spotless, the food nutritious and home cooked, nothing is too much trouble and Mum has been treated
with the utmost dignity and kindness. A fantastic and well led team who we as a family cannot thank enough. We feel grateful to have found such a wonderful place with professional and caring staff.

My wife entered Abbot Care Home about a year ago. She has been treated with respect, and her dignity has always been maintained. Her carers have always been absolutely lovely. During the lockdown, the home arranged Facetime visits in their bedrooms, clean and tidy with the added advantage of an ensuite
toilet and shower. The original manager has retired, and the new manager held a Zoom meeting, and I'm very optimistic about the future.

Visits after the lockdown are going ahead smoothly and are well organised. Impressed with the level of care mum received when poorly a couple of weeks ago the staff were well informed and relevant checks were carried out regularly. It has been a very difficult time for the staff and families but the
home did everything possible in the circumstances. Contact with families has definitely improved, although can still be difficult to get through on the phone!
Reply from Ruth Halls, Home Manager at Abbot Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write a review for us we value the feedback. Mum was transferred to Abbot from the hospital for assessment despite her not initially wanting to stay, not understanding what was happening due to her dementia. She has been treated with such love and care and the staff have over the six weeks she has been here shown such patience and understanding,

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.858)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.858) out of 10 for Abbot Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 54 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.858 for Abbot Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (558 Excellents x 5) + (73 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 640 Ratings = 4.858
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbot Care Home is based on 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 117 registered maximum number of service users is 23.4, which has been reached with 54 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
