Early 2023 saw the opening of the new care suite at Abbot Care Home. Named in honour of her late Majesty’s Jubilee celebrations in 2022, the purpose-built suite has been carefully designed to offer compassionate and dignified care that promotes a meaningful lifestyle of confidence and independence, supporting people who live with dementia.

My grandmother was placed here for end of life care which lasted 2 nights.
I cannot emphasise how amazing this care home is. Not only was my nan treated with the utmost dignity she was kept so safe, secure and comfortable in her last days. The staff are second to none, they looked after my nan so
well, they were polite and caring and had a real genuine desire to make her last days painless and comfortable. The manager was amazing and all of them made sure as a family we were looked after. We felt like we were family in this home and the facilities are wonderful. I will be writing to the manager to personally thank the staff team. Keep up the great work, this is one fabulous nursing home.

I am generally pleased with the care my mother receives, the staff are caring and attentive to her needs she is always treated with dignity and respect. If there are any problems with my mothers care I speak to the staff and the problem is resolved.

Generally happy with mum's care, although there have been a couple of issues regarding her safety but I have discussed these with relevant members of staff.
Better care now as less agency staff and more permanent carers/staff, although do feel not enough carers/residents although, I have been assured
this is not the case.
Disappointed that the activities person left, who was excellent. Hope these continue as important for residents.

Staff clearly lack training. Lack knowledge of how to correctly handle patients. Belongings constantly going missing. Wrong clothes being put on my Nan - meaning other people's are being put on her. Very unclean. Despite asking for my nan to have a bath - no bath was given. Lack of care. I regularly
visit and water isn't in reach for my nan. No napkins are given at meal times. Staff wrongly handle patients. No support given/provided to my nan when clearly needed when sat on a chair.

My husband has been in this care home 4 1/2 years. The care that he receives is 100%. He is always clean and tidy. His room is kept immaculate. He has pureed food which he eats and enjoys. The carers and staff are always happy. Anything that I might ask them to do for me and my husband is done with
a smile and immediately. What more could I ask for.

I am very happy with the care my wife has received since being admitted last summer but a little apprehensive when a member of staff is, either, not well or cannot turn up through any other, legitimate reason, putting pressure on those who are left to cover.

The home is clean and does not smell of urine but the ward where my father is appears short of staff at weekends. This is particularly true because several residents require one-to-one care. Individual staff helping my father are caring and helpful.

I raised issues with the manager June 17 and got banned from seeing my grandmother, we were given a letter with a choice - my grandmother would be given 28 days notice to quit (evicted) or I would not attend. I raised a formal complaint and then a torrent of false allegations was made against me and
after 11-12 times of asking for proof of the allegations (logged incidents) with any proof at all of what they accused me of, the company ignored all requests. They dealt with the lack of staffing issues and residents with out fluids fully in my complaint, but refuse to deal with banning me for no reason.

Susan joined the Abbot Care Home team on 7th July 2025, and brings
with her over 34 years of experience in the adult health and social care sector.


She specialises in the care of older people, including people who live with dementia. Throughout her career, she has worked within nursing, residential, palliative, day-care, and domiciliary care services.
   
Susan is passionate about providing high-quality care to older people. She looks forward to working in partnership with the people who live at Abbot, their families, and the care home team, to ensure expectations are being met and high standards are maintained.

Sabitha is a dedicated and caring leader, having joined the Excelcare-family in November 2019 as a Nurse and worked her way up to be the Care Manager of Abbot Care Home. Sabitha has been a qualified nurse since 2003 in India before she moved to the UK in 2016 and has been a UK registered nurse since 2017 with one year of experience as a Care Manager and 15 years of being a Mum.
