I spent 3 weeks in respite care. (1) Body map photos were taken on arrival A week later I needed a medical prescription as a skin problem developed I left 2 weeks later with serious skin damage in groin and anal areas, none of which was officially reported to my partner, nor was there any advice on on-going treatment. (2) I was assured, in my assessment, that my needs would be met (I have Parkinson's Disease and have to be moved by hoist. The staff lacked training in this. My foot was hurt (also photo'ed) in one of their efforts to move me. Subsequently I spent most of my time there bed-bound. English was their 2nd language for several staff. This was a problem. (3) On paper, the facilities look good - film room, garden etc. but they were not made available to me

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the respite stay did not meet expectations.

We take concerns regarding skin integrity, moving and handling, communication and activities seriously. However, none of the concerns outlined in this review were raised with the home during the...

Since my dad moved into this care home, we have been extremely impressed with the level of care, kindness, and professionalism shown by all the staff. Moving into care can be a big adjustment, but the team made the transition as smooth and comfortable as possible for both Dad and our family.

The staff are always friendly, patient, and genuinely caring, taking the time to get to know residents as individuals. Dad has settled in well, enjoys the activities on offer, and is treated with dignity and respect every day.

The home is clean, welcoming, and well maintained, creating a warm and homely atmosphere.

I recommended Alexandra Mill to my daughter in laws nan. She was struggling at home with everyday tasks. They, as a family, brought her in for respite, but with the care she received and how she became happier in herself, they took the decision to have her put in permanently. Which is now over 3 months, the best decision they as a family have made.

I can't speak highly enough of Alexandra Mill Care Home. The staff are genuinely kind, patient, and attentive, and they treat every resident with real dignity and warmth. The home itself is always clean, welcoming, and has a lovely atmosphere that immediately puts families at ease. Communication is excellent, and it's clear how much care and effort goes into making residents feel comfortable, safe, and valued. It's reassuring to know loved ones are in such capable and compassionate hands. I would wholeheartedly recommend Alexandra Mill to anyone looking for outstanding care.

My husband went into the Care Home in December 2025. He seems to have settled in well and the care and attention that the staff give to him is excellent. As all my husband's visitors have commented, it doesn't seem like a typical Care Home, more like a lovely hotel and it is the best that they, and I, have ever seen. He has a lovely room overlooking a well kept garden area which hopefully he will be able to take advantage of once the better weather arrives! They have a fantastic range of activities twice a day, every day, and this is such an important part of my husband's well being. My husband has to have a pureed diet due to his health needs but it is always freshly made and well presented. There is also a cafe area which is great for socialising in with visitors and other residents. The lounge areas for the residents are very modern and give you a homely feel. I would highly recommend the Care Home to anyone looking for somewhere for their loved one to stay.

Mum has spent time in three care homes over the last few years. We chose Alexandra Mill firstly due to its location and it was recently built. Our expectations for facilities (shop, cafe, meals, care) have all been met, with some staff members exceeding them. I feel confident that mum's physical and most mental needs are well catered for. The extra activities to encourage residents to continue to learn, have fun and socialise are superb. There is always a positive, friendly atmosphere for both residents and loved ones who visit regularly.

As a Housebound library volunteer I have visited 2 residents over the last few years, but one resident is a particular lady who I knew before she came to the home. Knowing where she came from previously I was so pleased with her room, care and general outlook. The place itself is outstanding for accommodation; there are coffee bars that non residents can also use, there are activities on all the time, a hairdresser too. The staff are so good with their charges and are friendly and helpful to visitors too. The outside has lovely garden areas and all residents have large windows to see the trees and flowerbeds even from their bed. All in all a lovely place 10/10 from me.

Mum stayed at Alexandra Mill for 4 weeks' respite to allow me to go on holiday. It is a lovely care home, well cared for and presented. Mum loved her room and soon made friends with fellow residents and all the staff. When I went to pick her up, she said, "I'm leaving already. I thought I was here for a few more days." That speaks for itself. She will definitely be back for further respite. She particularly enjoyed the activity schedule and had great fun joining in.

It can take time for your loved one to settle, even in the best homes like Alexandra Mill. It has taken a long time for my mum, who has dementia, to really settle, but with lots of encouragement from the caring staff she seems much happier and content. All the staff are friendly and welcoming to everyone. My mum particularly likes the housekeeping staff, who are always very kind to her. She has been joining in the activities more, thanks to the lovely activities team who understand her and give her lots of support when she needs it. A lot of the staff have been at the home since mum first moved in, which is always a good sign in my opinion. There are some lovely communal areas to enjoy such as the cafe and garden.
