Having been in various homes with elderly relations, Avocet House is the best one ever. From walking in the door the home is full of smiles and happiness. The staff are amazing which reflects on the residents who are also full of smiles. They have an agenda of activities every week. Most of them are having fun times, but they also have discussions of their memories, which are wonderful to listen to. Visitors are always encouraged to join in, offered a drink and made welcome. My husband and I are always happy to go and never rush to come away. It is absolutely wonderfully amazing.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful review. We are truly delighted to hear that your experiences at Avocet House have been so positive and that both you and your husband feel welcomed when visiting.

Since my mum moved into the staff have made the transition from her own home into care so easy. All the staff have been welcoming from the beginning and continue to give the best supportive care. What an amazing team, they are friendly, approachable and always happy to help. Can not fault any of them.

Avocet House is the jewel in the crown of care homes. Everyone should aspire to meet their high standards. All the staff are amazing with tremendous work ethic. They are kind patient and compassionate and that follows through to residents relatives. The home is immaculate with each room and communal area cleaned daily. A good choice of food is offered at each meal time and snacks and drinks available between meals. They also have a full programme of activities all residents are encouraged to join in. I will be forever grateful for the care my husband received at Avocet House. All I wanted was the best for him and he certainly got it!

As a family we couldn't have wished for a better home for dad to spend his last few months. From the moment we stepped in Avocet House, we instantly knew this was home for Dad. The standard of care is second to none, from the cleanliness, the quality of food, facilities, the liaison with outside agencies which is only down to the high expectation of the care staff at Avocet provided. Absolutely incredible, caring and compassionate staff that we will hold dearly in our hearts for the care they gave. Thanks.

Partner has dementia, previous home used for daytime respite would no longer take her, due to her wandering, toileting issues etc. Have now used Avocet House 3 times for 8 hours respite. Really impressed with the facilities, staff, friendliness and understanding shown. Also the flexibility of times, which enabled me to attend evening events.

Friendly and excellent care. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the team, always lovely and warm and spotless cleanliness every where. When my mother came to avocet house for rest bite her mobility was very poor and she was unable to walk and use the bathroom, within a short time she was able to walk with a frame and use the bathroom with help then with wonderful care she was able to progress to a walker and was able to get about by herself and use the bathroom by herself, after such wonderful care she was able to return to her bungalow, she was very happy while she was in avocet house and although she is pleased to be home she does miss the wonderful team and residents. Our family are very grateful to all the team at Avocet House.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your mother's journey at Avocet House. It means the world to us to hear how our dedicated team was able to support her recovery and independence. My grandmother is in Advocet and has been since last year. The care staff are amazing, so attentive and caring, fantastic care, rare to see these days. Every time I visit the home is immaculate. Fresh cakes available for everyone, just makes it an even better experience to visit. Beautiful different rooms we can spend time together, staff always so accommodating with drinks, food, meals, I'm never afraid to ask for anything. It's a home away from home, she's been allowed her personal items in her room, which makes it so much more personal. The home puts on events we can all go to and residents get involved. The staff make sure even residents that want to stay in their rooms are also involved. I just really want to thank everyone involved in her care. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you.

I have noticed a 100% improvement in my father's health and emotional well-being since he was admitted to Avocet House. I am quite stunned by the beautiful environment, which is designed and decorated to a very high standard. The standard of care at Avocet House is excellent. My Mother came for 2 weeks of respite care. The staff were very supportive and kind and all the care needs were met. The only negative comment was the food quality was "adequate" and the mashed potato was poor! Apart from that it was a very positive experience and the staff were great. Thank you.

I had a warm welcome on arrival and that continued throughout my stay. The staff were excellent, without exception, and nothing was ever too much trouble for them, no matter how minor your request. The rooms were extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean.

I attended the summer fete. Staff were attentive, as always, and residents were clearly their priority. The staff worked as a great team together to ensure everyone had a good time, even the managers were dancing with the residents and ensuring everyone had what they needed. The food was excellent, entertainment was very good. Whenever I visit Avocet House Care Home, I am made to feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble, it is homely and the atmosphere is friendly.

My brother and I find all the staff at the home very friendly, kind and approachable. They treat our mother with respect and dignity and we are sure she is content and very comfortable living at Avocet.
Thank you for your review. We are so pleased you have had such a positive experience at Avocet House and that your loved one is happy and well cared for. We know how much this review will mean to our team members and we look forward to sharing it with them.
I am impressed by the dedication of the carers working in difficult circumstances with my wife who has Alzheimer’s and can exhibit challenging behaviours. Some staff are especially gifted. Staff are always polite and responsive but, I would say, stretched too far by the demands of the residents in their care. The rooms are luxurious. The carpeting ideal for reducing possible injuries from falls. There is space for those who, like my wife, need to walk the length of the building and there are interesting views. All the luxury though is compromised if staff are unable to give the standard of care they would wish because there are not enough feet on the ground.
Thank you for your review. Our Home Manager operates an open door policy, she would be happy to sit down and discuss any concerns or feedback you may have. We are very proud of the team members we have at Avocet House and look forward to sharing your review witht them.
Pleased with care.
Would consider being here myself.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate all feedback and look forward to sharing this with the team.

"I have worked in the care sector for over 28 years. I started my career as a carer and within three years I had worked my way up to be a manager. I am passionate about kind care and ensuring that our resident's health, happiness, and well-being are at the heart of everything we do."

“I wanted to work in care from a very young age and joined the sector as soon as I could. It was the best decision for me, I really enjoy being part of an industry that cares for people. Every day is different and brings something new. I meet the most amazing people and couldn’t be happier with my career at Avocet House.”

“My role, as Front of House Manager is to be warm, friendly and welcoming to everyone who comes through the doors, whether it is a relative, a nurse, the postman or the Directors! I love my job here and get on fantastically with everyone. Every day is different which I absolutely love!”

"I love my role as Senior Care Assistant. Being part of a team that genuinely cares means that every day is a pleasure. It also means that the culture of the home is kind and compassionate and that our residents are safe and cared for. Avocet House is a happy home, we have fun together and enjoy each other's company. I wouldn't want to do anything else."

"I get job satisfaction in providing a safe environment that enables our staff to perform efficiently. Better still, interact with our residents and their families in a very positive way. Not just by personalising their living space, but by taking every opportunity to involve them with my work, and also in my interests, like wildlife and current affairs. I do encourage residents to advise me with gardening matters! The happy and friendly atmosphere here at Avocet House makes this a really nice place to work."
