General care is good during the day on the whole, night care is not as good as it could be. Mum is difficult to manage and this is reflected in her care. Personal hygiene is often not carried out thoroughly enough due to Mum's agitated state.

Mum going into a care home was so hard for us and the guilt was overwhelming. The staff at Caldwell Grange & The Lodge Care Homee quickly put our minds at ease. They are simply wonderful and genuinely care for the residents or as they call them 'their extended family'. They go above giving the care required and, as a family, we can't thank them enough. Our chats with staff are comfortable and easy. Leadership and management are first-class.

Thank you all.

I can't thank all the staff enough for the exceptional care that was given to my mum. I really didn't want to put Mum into care but I really couldn't cope with Mum at home anymore as her dementia got worse. However, it was so obvious Mum was happy there, she loved all the staff and they loved her! They were also very good to me, helping me to deal with the very difficult time of Mum's passing. Thank you so much.

Incredibly impressed by every aspect of Caldwell Grange & The Lodge Care Home. My mother says the food is excellent and staff couldn't be more helpful.

No amount of words can express my gratitude and respect of this home. My nan has always had the best care at this home. She has opened up more as was very reluctant to engage with others, the staff are helpful and caring and show compassion and are always there not just for my nan but my family as a whole, my nan has settled in so well and is now doing a lot better. Thank you Caldwell Grange Care Home for everything you do.

My father-in-law stayed here for three weeks after his release from hospital, all the staff were brilliant with him, it’s a very clean, tidy and friendly home, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they went above and beyond, everybody that works there sits and chats to the residents including the management which was lovely to see, it’s like one big happy family. I would highly recommend this home whether it’s short term or long term.

Having a loved one move into a care home is one of the hardest decisions I have had to make and hearing of all the horrific stories in magazines and seeing documentaries on the television contributes to that fear and makes you feel all kinds of emotions from guilt, failure and always questioning yourself “am I doing right by my loved one”! My dad is currently here at Caldwell Grange Care Home and I can honestly say I am happy he is here. I know he is being looked after well and I know it’s for the best for him. The staff are amazing and will go above and beyond to support him and myself. The communication is brilliant and they always do their best to keep me informed of things going on with my dad and I know if I was concerned about anything I can raise this with them and it will be acted upon.

Hello Susan, we're really grateful for your amazing review. We are happy to hear we have gone above and beyond your expectations, especially with the communication and our team's performance, and your thoughtful and insightful comments really do enhance the care we provide. I can not praise enough the care all the staff have given to my mum. She was very reluctant to go into a home, but last November it became necessary due to her not being able to live alone. She settled extremely well and is very happy. When able, she joins in with the numerous activities that are provided. She always comments on how she enjoys the meals provided, has all her needs catered for, hairdresser, chiropodist and much more.
For me living abroad, being able to FaceTime Mum has been a lifeline during this pandemic, whenever I call the home, the staff are always professional and polite and I can say without a doubt, nothing is too much trouble.

Mum has had a recent stay in hospital, but as a family, we are happy that she is now back in Caldwell Grange, as we all appreciate the excellent care she receives.

I didn’t want to put my mam into a home, the hospital insisted on a short term stay and a health assessment. I quickly realised that this was the best place for her as she looks so much better since coming in here. All of the Staff are lovely with her. They are very professional, attentive and caring. I would highly recommend.

The team at Caldwell Grange have gone so far above and beyond during the pandemic, it’s incredible. The care that they have shown to their residents, and just as importantly, their families has been second to none. Despite how busy the staff must be, I was warmly welcomed when I visited at Easter, was supplied with all the PPE required and was able to spend as long as I liked with my mum. The staff still had time for a chat and to furnish me with anecdotes as I hadn’t seen Mum for a long time. They know her so well and take the time and trouble to see past her dementia to the person she used to be and I’m tremendously grateful for that. I would recommend Caldwell Grange to anyone looking for care for themselves or a relative.

When mum was discharged from hospital in January 2017 she was too frail to return home and so we needed to find a residential home for her.
One of the social workers advised me to remember to look beyond the Chandeliers.
Well, Caldwell Grange doesn't have chandeliers but it was and still is a really well kept home with all the facilities that you would want.
Mum spent over 4 years being really well looked after and she was able to relax and enjoy herself in her own way. She never joined any of the activities but only because she didn't want to. She was happy to sit quietly in the corner with a book.
One of the best thing at Caldwell is the layout making it into 4 small homes within 1 large home.
I would visit mum with fresh cream cakes, sit in the tea room with a pot of tea and chat about family and friends.
PS

The staff are pretty special too, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

This home has thrown every misconception I had about care homes out of the window. Mum has been there now for two months and has never looked so happy and well. The manager is fantastic and extremely supportive and always available. The staff are so kind and caring and genuinely care about the residents. The home is spotlessly clean and very homely. I am always made to feel very welcome and if I have ever raised anything it is dealt with promptly. The home certainly lives up to its reputation in the community.

It was a hard decision, putting my mum into a care home. We had been looking at care homes and Caldwell Grange was mentioned to us from the social work team. We contacted the home and we were very pleased that Caldwell Grange had a vacancy and could take my mum. My mum was not a well woman and due to the Covid pandemic it was difficult to get to see Mum but the manager and her team were very good. They made sure it was always possible for us as a family be able to have regular contact with my mum. Sadly we lost our mum on New Year's Day, the staff were amazing, very dignified and treated my mum with respect. The management arrived to pay their respects and we knew we made the right decision in placing our mum at Caldwell Grange. Mum was well cared for and the staff are so friendly, I would definitely recommend Caldwell Grange to anyone that I know who is looking for a care home.

My Mum moved into the home back in February before the lockdown which made us highly anxious as no sooner had she moved in we then could not visit her. I can honestly say our worry was short-lived as the home's communication with us as a family and making sure my Mum stayed connected with us has been fantastic. I could not have asked for anywhere better for My Mum to live and be taken care of. I video my Mum three times a week and she always looks so well cared for and is happy. Mum has always liked her hair and makeup done and the staff have continued to make sure this is done. My Mum has said all of the staff are very kind to her and take good care of her and nothing is too much trouble.

I enjoy living at Caldwell and the staff went above and beyond to help me celebrate my birthday during the lockdown period. They made what would have been a very quiet day I felt very special. My keyworker brought me flowers and cake in for everyone to share. The staff and others living here are all super friendly and nothing is too much for them. They are like a family.d
