Caldwell Grange & The Lodge

The Lodge is clean and there are plenty of in-house activities as well as trips out. But most of all my Father is happy here.

The food is good. Very happy with The Lodge.

Mum became a resident during lockdown. An extremely stressful time. Staff reassuring and supportive during this extremely difficult time. Mum has never complained which tells me a lot, mum chooses whether she wants to be involved with activities, the staff talk fondly of Mum and tell me of funny incidents, Mum’s room is always spotless, the staff are welcoming when I visit and there is a homely vibe, all staff including management are approachable, listen and responsive to any queries. Staff also keep me informed of any changes in health and health appointments so I’m able to accompany Mum for appointments. The reality is mum is happy and well cared for. Mum also has an independent reviewer who visits to oversee mum's care and to ensure mum is happy, no concerns have ever been raised. This also gives me reassurance. I feel lucky my mum is able to be a resident at Caldwell Grange and because of this, I’m able to sleep at night knowing my mum is safe.

Room/accommodation: Clean and tidy at all times, staff always willing to help my mother operate her television. My mother's pictures were hung on the wall. Catering: Mum loved the fact that she could have a cooked breakfast. Opportunities for improvement: Increased activity/visits and trips, useful to have direct feedback on medical, dental, ophthalmic appointments. Overall - kind and friendly staff, knowledgeable and accommodating of my mum's needs.

Mum has been here now for six years. I honestly believe living here has added years to her life as she is so well cared for by the staff here. As soon as you walk in your hit with a homely, loving atmosphere that makes it feel like a big family. I am always welcomed on my visits and staff are friendly and approachable. Mum is always doing something or on an outing which is wonderful as she was housebound for so many years before coming to live at Caldwell Grange. Mum shares the food is good and plentiful and there is lots of choice. The garden areas are a real treat when visiting in the warmer months. The management are visible whenever I have visited and are very approachable and ensure everything runs like clockwork. I seem to see the same staff each time I visit which is great for my mum as she has come to form really close bonds with those that care for her and gives me a sense of comfort and security.

I have had a positive experience of being a resident at Caldwell Grange. My support needs are fully met. The care staff, domestic staff and management are very competent and have a warm and compassionate approach to their work tasks. I have been very impressed by the level of safety and responses to acute medical needs and emergencies.

Comfortable and clean home. My mother is very satisfied with the care provided by the home. The staff are very good. The food is very good and sufficient.

I find the staff are very good with my Mum. They are very friendly and have a joke and a laugh which you need to lighten the mood in the home.

General care is good during the day on the whole, night care is not as good as it could be. Mum is difficult to manage and this is reflected in her care. Personal hygiene is often not carried out thoroughly enough due to Mum's agitated state.

My experience at your home was out of this world. Everything there was homely, friendly, caring and clean. All staff and management were outstanding.

I can't thank all the staff enough for the exceptional care that was given to my mum. I really didn't want to put Mum into care but I really couldn't cope with Mum at home anymore as her dementia got worse. However, it was so obvious Mum was happy there, she loved all the staff and they loved her! They were also very good to me, helping me to deal with the very difficult time of Mum's passing. Thank you so much.

The premises are great too. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

No amount of words can express my gratitude and respect of this home. My nan has always had the best care at this home. She has opened up more as was very reluctant to engage with others, the staff are helpful and caring and show compassion and are always there not just for my nan but my family as a whole, my nan has settled in so well and is now doing a lot better. Thank you Caldwell Grange Care Home for everything you do.

My father-in-law stayed here for three weeks after his release from hospital, all the staff were brilliant with him, it’s a very clean, tidy and friendly home, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they went above and beyond, everybody that works there sits and chats to the residents including the management which was lovely to see, it’s like one big happy family. I would highly recommend this home whether it’s short term or long term.

Having a loved one move into a care home is one of the hardest decisions I have had to make and hearing of all the horrific stories in magazines and seeing documentaries on the television contributes to that fear and makes you feel all kinds of emotions from guilt, failure and always questioning yourself “am I doing right by my loved one”! My dad is currently here at Caldwell Grange Care Home and I can honestly say I am happy he is here. I know he is being looked after well and I know it’s for the best for him. The staff are amazing and will go above and beyond to support him and myself. The communication is brilliant and they always do their best to keep me informed of things going on with my dad and I know if I was concerned about anything I can raise this with them and it will be acted upon.

Mum has had a recent stay in hospital, but as a family, we are happy that she is now back in Caldwell Grange, as we all appreciate the excellent care she receives.

I didn’t want to put my mam into a home, the hospital insisted on a short term stay and a health assessment. I quickly realised that this was the best place for her as she looks so much better since coming in here. All of the Staff are lovely with her. They are very professional, attentive and caring. I would highly recommend.

My mum has been at Caldwell Grange for eight months. It is taking quite a while for her to settle in but the staff are always kind and helpful to her. She joins in with the activities and also mixes with the other residents. Would definitely recommend Caldwell Grange. Thank you.

The team at Caldwell Grange have gone so far above and beyond during the pandemic, it’s incredible. The care that they have shown to their residents, and just as importantly, their families has been second to none. Despite how busy the staff must be, I was warmly welcomed when I visited at Easter, was supplied with all the PPE required and was able to spend as long as I liked with my mum. The staff still had time for a chat and to furnish me with anecdotes as I hadn’t seen Mum for a long time. They know her so well and take the time and trouble to see past her dementia to the person she used to be and I’m tremendously grateful for that. I would recommend Caldwell Grange to anyone looking for care for themselves or a relative.
