Castle Brook is situated in the town of Kenilworth, close to local shops, pubs, restaurants, a bus route, and the castle and provides long-term and respite care for older people.

The home is made up of six households, with each offering its own communal open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchen so that residents benefit from independence with the added support of the care team.

All rooms have ensuite wetrooms, a personalised front door, plenty of storage and the option to have a TV or telephone. Ground floor rooms all have their own patio area. Companion rooms are also available at Castle Brook for couples or relatives wanting to stay together. Outside is a large garden with a specially designed cycle path for a side-by-side bicycle for two, outdoor gym equipment, varied planting which residents and staff take care of, and plenty of places to relax.

The home uses a range of technology to enhance the health and wellbeing of residents including acoustic night-time monitoring and circadian lighting.

The team at Castle Brook designs an active and engaging lifestyle and there is always a lot happening in the home, with regular activities taking place including a weekly choir and church service.

Residents benefit from activities and day trips on the Memory Maker minibus - which relatives are invited to join and there is also a café, cinema, shop, launderette, spa baths and beauty salon offering unisex hairdressing and manicures.

I have resided here now just over a year, and I have been cared for at all times with kindness and a kind, encouraging hug in times of need. Sometimes have been an awkward resident, but cared for with grace. The food is good, and quite a few treats (I like sometimes to help) tolerated with their help.
We have a beautiful wall along a brook, with garden, fountain, chair and tables for rest and activity. Outings to interesting places, and great care. Three activities a day, seven days a week.
No problem here.

On the day of my arrival, I was greeted by friendly, smiley reception staff who soon made me feel welcome, and I was introduced to many staff members, all of whom were very jolly and friendly. Since that first day, I've been extremely well cared for. Everyone at Castle Brook has been so kind, caring
and supportive not only to me, but to my family and friends. I couldn't wish for a better care home to live in.

A warm, friendly and welcoming environment where all are treated with respect and dignity. Everyone smiles, staff, residents and visitors. Residents are recognised as individuals and given space and encouragement to be themselves.
I like the variety of seating areas around the building allowing residents
to be with others or sit in quiet comfortable smaller areas.
I highly recommend Castle Brook.

Care is given with complete dignity. I genuinely believe that some of the carers are absolute angels, the care and love they give to both of my parents is beyond belief. They really are exceptional people!
Beautifully decorated, more like a hotel than a carehome. There is a shop, a cinema, a hairdressers,
a cafe, and an icecream and popcorn dispenser.
Reception, the carers and management are very helpful.
There is a beautifully kept garden.
Food is good and it is always in ample supply.
Laudry gets a bit mixed up but providing labels are on all clothes then it's never really a problem.
There is a constant array of activities for the residents (usually 3 a day, everyday) and regular trips out on the memory maker minibus.
My dad never wanted to come to a care home but he realised that it was the best place for him and my mother during the first few minutes of entering the carehome. I think that says it all!

I am extremely likely to recommend to family and friends. My experience has been a pleasure to date. The room I have is clean and tidy with staff attending on a regular basis re furnishing and fitments. Incidentally I have spent many years as a finance manager in the care industry and so have experience
as to how the system works. Looking at the ratings I choose to tick Good over areas.

Max and I were thrilled to be upgraded to a larger flat together with small patio on the lower floor of Castle Brook. We were helped in the move by TSI together with use of a trolley. The whole process took about 3 trolley loads to transfer all of 'our worldly goods' without a moan or a groan from
TSI, finishing early afternoon, 29 September. When we arrived I was amazed TSI had set out the flat - designer style! I told her she would make a good designer! I have had interest in art & design throughout my life. She is a lovely expressive young woman, full of joy & willing member. She also has a pretty singing voice. Many thanks to all for their help.

My grandad is made very welcome by the friendly, caring staff who are always smiling and singing along to his songs with him! It's lovely to see how everybody knows his name. His personal needs are taken care of with dignity, and it means the world to know that he is safe and taken care of. He enjoys
his food and the brilliant facilities - especially the coffee shop, hairdressers and table tennis!

Environment clean + tidy. Care on merlon excellent. Staff work really hard and genuinely care. Main reason for writing was that care of my mum when dying was textbook standard. Its a family at Castle Brook and relatives are also treated as family, another family member had to move up north and they
all say about the new home. Its not Castle Brooke.

My stay at Castle Brook was for 'respite' which was a very pleasant one. The respite stay was from 11th July to 20th July 2024. The stay was that of a 'hotel' lovely bedroom with en-suite, and the staff, food and quality of care were first class. The staff looked after me very well which made the whole
respite experience a happy and pleasant one. If in the future I require respite care Castle Brook will be my first choice of care home to stay. My thanks to all involved.

My dad came to Castle Brook when he could no longer live at home safely, it has taken a while for him to adjust. But he has finally settled and is happy. Being in contact with the staff and the floor manager has put my mind at ease when I have my worries, that has been a great comfort. I know my father
is well looked after and he knows that he is safe which is a big thing for him. I applaud the staff that work so hard. And all the Castle Brook team.

First impressions when my mother was taken into care at Castle Brook was good and since has moved to be impressive. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.793)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.793) out of 10 for Castle Brook is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.818 for Castle Brook is calculated as follows: ( (187 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.818
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Castle Brook is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2016

I'm the General Manager for Castle Brook and have been with WCS Care since 2016.

I joined Castle Brook in 2017, with my first and biggest job to date helping to move 32 residents from the old Woodside home in Warwick to Castle Brook, whilst it was redeveloped into the care village it is today.

I'm passionate about supporting carers to make Castle Brook the very best it can be and my mission is to make sure there are no barriers to what care home residents can do, just because they are living in a 'care home'.
