Wonderful care home and staff!
My 94-year-old mom had fallen at home and was admitted to the local hospital with a broken arm. After seven-nine days, the hospital decided to discharge her home with a care package of four thirty-minute visits a day. The decision was made despite family concerns for
her dignity and safety.
After a week, my mom's health deteriorated due to anxiety and using the broken arm.
After a review by the community therapists, my mom was moved to Castle Brook Care Home at very short notice on a very busy Friday evening.
From the moment we set through the door the manager and colleagues made my mom feel so welcome and gave us so much reassurance that she would receive outstanding care.
The home is beautiful and her room was like one in a four-star hotel.
My mom had lost weight and interest in reading and watching TV.
But with the excellent care and goals set by the care home manager, within a month my mom was totally rehabilitated. I need more than a thousand words to say a big thank you.
Reply from Jo Bullingham, General Manager at Castle BrookThank you so much for your lovely feedback. It was our pleasure to look after your mum and help her get back to feeling like herself. Thank you to all the carers at Castle Brook Care Home. We have all been through a difficult time over the last couple of years. Without your professionalism in taking care of our mother and her needs, we as a family would have been at a loss.
Thank you.

My father was moved to this care home after being in hospital for a number of weeks. It is a clean and spacious care home and the choice of meals are very good. My father is happy here and feels safe. He is well looked after. I am now able to visit him whenever I wish and have the necessary contacts
at the home should I require them.

A friendly feeling home, I think that there could be more interaction between carers and residents. The food is good, could be more attention to detail, e.g. clothes and items missing from residents room, better housekeeping required.

Staff at Castle Brook Care Home seem to genuinely care about their residents and their families. They communicate well.
My father and stepmother shared a very comfortable suite prior to my father’s death. They were given the opportunity to look after themselves where possible. Staff handled my father’s
rapidly changing condition with kindness and gentleness, adapting to his needs. They continue to handle my stepmother’s grief with care and understanding.

Very caring staff who go above and beyond to make sure my mother is well looked after. She enjoys the home-cooked food and the companionship of the household dining room.
The facilities are modern, airy and light and well maintained.
We love the comprehensive daily feedback available on the online

The care team's commitment and understanding are exceptional, our mother is happy, content, eating and enjoying her food, taking part in all social aspects and activities, she has friends and enjoys all that is on offer at this care facility. The team really do care and this is reflected in a happy,
cared for Mum. Thank you.

When my parents moved into Castle Brook Care Home this was my very first experience of care homes. I was concerned, having heard all sorts of stories. I had absolutely no need to be worried. Right from the start my parents were treated with great care and respect and looked after beautifully. Not only
that, my whole family have been included in the Castle Brook family, we are kept fully informed at every step, we can read online everything my parents have done during the day. When Dad had to go into hospital, my confused Mum was looked after with the greatest kindness.
My parents enjoy their food and it’s a great comfort to know they are eating well. All the staff are friendly, kind and very helpful. At the start, I asked a lot of what seemed silly questions. My queries were always answered with sensitivity and I was never made to feel it was a silly question. I can’t recommend Castle Brook enough. I am extremely pleased with every aspect. It really is ‘a care home‘ in the best sense.

Our father is very happy at Castle Brook Care Home. He first went for rehabilitation and we finally had to arrange the care permanently. He is in a warm, comfortable environment where the carers treat him well, as if in a family.
He has a pureed diet and enjoys the food. He also likes lots of cups
of tea and biscuits and they are always available. He enjoys the company of other residents and although he has dementia he knows his carers and permanent staff. The staff are lovely with him. Best move we made arranging his care there after looking after him 24-hours a day for several years.

I recently moved my uncle into Castle Lodge from another care home following an admission to hospital.
I have been absolutely blown away by the care, support and kindness shown by the staff at the home. My uncle has had a challenging start with falls and paramedic visits but the staff have managed
everything with compassion and sensitivity. He was very unhappy in the home he was in previously but now that he has moved, he seems so much happier. Thank you to all of the staff, I am looking forward to times when I can visit more freely as the environment when I visited was fabulous.

Friendly environment and atmosphere. Staff always friendly and welcoming to us and family when we visited our mother.
Staff have always been friendly and caring towards our mother even though she can be very challenging at times due to her illness.
We particularly like the freedom of movement for
residents which we feel is important for their mental well-being.

Mum moved into Castle Brook in March and found it quite difficult to adjust at first. Any "settling in" issues that I raised with the staff was addressed immediately - I never had to raise an issue for a second time. The facilities are first class. The staff are all friendly and genuinely caring and
patient, and even during busy periods they will make time to discuss any concerns that might arise, and they LISTEN!
Mum chooses to remain in her room so I cannot comment on the activities the home provides.
Mum has now settled and is very happy now, and I don't believe she could get better care anywhere. I would not hesitate to recommend Castle Brook, it is truly excellent.

I first visited a friend only a couple of weeks after the home opened, sadly she died 18 months ago. During the 16 months I visited, there were so many problems - 4/5 managers, staff, care, food, everything causing unhappiness for residents. I am now visiting another friend who is on the NHS floor and
I am amazed at the difference and how the new manager has turned it around- congratulations. My friend is very happy and if you have good food, a relaxed, cheerful environment it aids recovery and contentment.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.793)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.793) out of 10 for Castle Brook is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.818 for Castle Brook is calculated as follows: ( (187 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.818
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Castle Brook is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2016

I'm the General Manager for Castle Brook and have been with WCS Care since 2016.

I joined Castle Brook in 2017, with my first and biggest job to date helping to move 32 residents from the old Woodside home in Warwick to Castle Brook, whilst it was redeveloped into the care village it is today.

I'm passionate about supporting carers to make Castle Brook the very best it can be and my mission is to make sure there are no barriers to what care home residents can do, just because they are living in a 'care home'.
