Castle Grange

Although my husband took time to settle in, the care staff were reassuring, giving him the attention he needed. The support he required was usually available and because he was depressed and needed a lot of reassurance, the staff were very good at giving the support.

Wonderful care home - clean, neat and tidy. Fantastic support by all staff/carers. Plenty of carers/staff per resident. People on call and always available 24/7.

When she passed away, the staff could not have been more caring, helpful and respectful. Having viewed lots of homes and Castle Grange stands out from them all. Highly recommended.

My dad went through a long period of moving from one ward to another in the local hospital, he was very unhappy and wanted to go home! Dad has been at Castle Grange for a few months and views it as his new home, he is getting to know the other residents and introduces them by name. He is happy and contented which makes our whole family thrilled for him. (Dad is 92).

After Mum was having problems in her last care home we moved her to Castle Grange Care Home. We could not be happier with the facilities and care Mum receives. She is treated with dignity, staff spend time with her and the care she gets is exceptional. Mum has dementia and since moving to Castle Grange, Mum seems to have "come back" to her normal self, she is happy and having fun. She has her hair done, generally thoroughly enjoying herself and loves her room and food. She remarks it's like being in a posh hotel and, if in doubt, do not hesitate to place your loved one in this beautiful home.

Due to long travel distance, we arrived at a time normally assumed to be out of hours. Despite this, the management and staff were most hospitable towards us and my mother. My mother was in exceptionally good spirits and the healthiest and happiest we have seen her in many years. Our grateful thanks to the management and staff.

Covid has been very difficult for all, and the only points I would make are that communication between staff and residents' families could be better, and one safeguarding issue wasn't fully investigated.

My brother found it initially strange after living alone for so long, however, once he got used to the people he soon settled in. He finds the staff helpful and friendly.

Extremely happy with my dad's stay for five days in May. I could not fault one thing. His room was light, clean and a good size. Lovely touch adding his photo on his door. I had good peace of mind knowing he was in good care and hands while I was working long hours. The staff on the top floor dealt with him well. I really cannot thank you enough for everything. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I think you can tell by my ratings just what I think of Castle Grange Care Home. When I first saw my brother, it was in Covid in a room with a screen, he was brought in, in a wheelchair by a carer, he was so thin, I could not understand what he tried to tell me, I went into shock, how could this happen in this day and age? Now my brother has recovered with all the care and dedication from all the staff and all who work there. It has been like a miracle. This care home should be the flagship for Scarborough.

Visiting the care home only provides limited time for providing any accurate review of standards however, from my experience of employee contact and accommodation, I would rate this care home as excellent. This is an example of how care homes should be.

Our mother started her stay at the Castle Grange Care Home two years ago at the height of the Covid pandemic. Myself and our family have nothing but the highest praise and gratitude to the staff who have been amazing through very difficult and stressful circumstances. Our mother could not have received any better care and continues to benefit from the highest care and standards.

Mum has just started living at Castle Grange Care Home because she has Alzheimer’s. The home is well run, spotlessly clean, always welcoming and has excellent facilities. The management and staff are very professional, caring and friendly and nothing has been too much trouble for them in getting Mum settled in. As a family, we feel we could not have found a better place for Mum to be and we would highly recommend Castle Grange.

My mother was at Castle Grange for eighteen months, I can only praise the care my mother had from all the staff. The home itself was immaculate. All the bedrooms and public areas were beautifully furnished and well kept. I would recommend this care home to anyone.

My sister had a week's respite, so when the decision was made for her to go into care it was an easy choice. The management and team made her very welcome and feel at home straight away, which made me happy to leave her. The rooms are lovely and bright and tastefully decorated with lovely lounges and dining areas. The team leaders and carers I have met are brilliant with my sister, some going that extra mile. I would highly recommend.

It was an extremely difficult decision to put my mum in a care home, but due to the rapid deterioration of her Alzheimer’s she needs 24-hour care. Of all the care homes we looked at, Castle Grange Care Home stood out above the rest and just felt right. It doesn’t feel like a care home, there's a lovely atmosphere, the decor and rooms are beautiful, there’s a landscaped area to the rear and views over Scarborough from the front. There were a few teething problems initially but these were dealt with. The management and staff are polite, friendly and supportive, not only helping my mum settle in but helping me too. Mum says all the staff are wonderful and she really enjoys the food. Thank you.

Excellent friendly staff. Always clean and accommodating to all of my grandmother's needs. Lots of activities on offer, quizzes, movie days, and crafts. Plenty of parking out front and a lovely outdoor seating area and gardens.
