Review from H F (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 June 2025 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
My Dad had a very negative experience when he was a resident at Connaught House for just over 2 weeks. He was moved to 3 different rooms during this time. He looked unkempt on most days. I felt the care staff were not interested in getting to know Dad and what would help make him feel at ease & reduce
his anxieties. It felt like a heavy handed approach was taken, which made Dad very agitated. I suggested a more hands off approach but felt I wasn't listened to.
Dad's stay ended when he fell and broke his hip.
I would not recommend this home to anyone, especially if they have moderate dementia, even if they have some challenging behaviours.
I felt the leadership, management & culture were extremely poor. The appalling response I received to my CQC complaint only confirmed this.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Today may 11th we had a birthday party for my brother's 70th. What a fantastic day organised by the head of activities. She made everyone welcome and worked tirelessly to serve food, take photos and in general really made the day a great one. What an asset this young lady is to RHG Connaught house nobody
else would have come close.

Review from Debra F (Sister of Resident) published on 20 September 2024 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Felt compelled to write an update on my previous review. I really cannot fault the care my sister has received over the past 6 months, every single member of staff are so kind and caring towards her and have understood, rapidly, her level of care needs. My sister always has a smile for anyone who addresses
her, which is a huge tell tale sign. I am at Connaught-Cranmore level a lot and can see how respectfully the residents are treated. Activities were always a big thing for me when it came to my sister's care and I can honestly say the activities team really do go above and beyond to get residence involved. In my sister's case, karaoke and movement activities being a favourite. I would love to mention each and every staff member but the list would go on and on. You all know who you are and I can't express how much you are all appreciated. I also have to mention the laundry team.

Review from Laurie B (Partner of Resident) published on 12 June 2023 Submitted via Website • Report

I am prejudiced as my partner is in this 5-star home, but I have to say the staff are the best. That includes management, maintenance and especially reception. All the staff cannot do enough to occupy residents and us visitors.

Current Review Score: 7.3 (7.329)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.3 (7.329) out of 10 for Connaught House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.088 for Connaught House is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 34 Ratings = 4.088
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.241 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Connaught House is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 86 registered maximum number of service users is 17.2. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.2 = 0.116
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
