Farnham Mill Nursing Home

My mother lived at Farnham Mill for 18 months and was the happiest she had ever been since my father died 11 years ago. The staff treated all the residents with respect and dignity at all times. The facilities and activities stimulated and amused a demanding lady. I cannot praise highly enough the end of life care provided by all members of staff. Both my mother and her family were supported magnificently. Farnham Mill sets a very high benchmark of excellence for others to aspire to achieve.

I cannot fault the standard met by Farnham Mill. It should be a benchmark for other care homes to strive for. During our visit, we observed a level of care and teamwork in the caregiving, that I would like to receive should I need to move into care.

The care given to my father was exceptional. I just wish everyone in my father's family could experience the same thoughtfulness and support.

The environment and the staff are all that one could possibly expect in a nursing home.

My mother was taken to hospital and as she was Dad's main carer, we had to quickly look for respite for him. Farnham Mill acted so quickly to accommodate him. Dad was looked after so well, everybody was so kind. Dad spent three weeks at the Mill and talks of it fondly and would love to return when my mother needs a rest again.

Following the death of my father-in-law, my mother-in-law needed a secure dementia care facility due to her wandering nature and medical needs. Following extensive research and visiting several nursing homes in the area, there was one that stood out from the rest and that was Farnham Mill. The home was purpose-built just a few years ago specifically to care for the needs we required. From our very first visit, it was well run, secure, beautifully clean and decorated with large rooms and lovely communal facilities. More importantly, there is a very good staff ratio and the carers are wonderful and caring. There are various entertainments organised such as singers and musicians along with daily entertainment activities and trips out to garden centres etc. No, it's not the cheapest care home in the area but also it's not the most expensive. My mother-in-law has been unwell recently and we are informed as soon as possible and consulted about treatments etc then kept updated. Well done.

It is lovely to see her looking well and after a slow start she is now joining in with activities. Last week my sister and I visited together and watched Mum in the cookery class. It was wonderful to see her so engaged in making cheese straws. Mum was school caterer and you could see how this activity was bringing back memories. Mum is always encouraged to join in by the wonderful caring staff who are always there to help.

Mum went to Farnham Mill in March 2019 after being hospital for 2 months. It is such a lovely, warm, caring environment. This is due to the staff, who are professional at all times but have a caring attitude. There are so many activities that my Mum is encouraged to join in. The latest favourite is the cooking club. It is wonderful to watch Mum using some of her skills from her 'school catering' days. If you are thinking of placing a loved one at Farnham Mill, rest assured that they will be well looked after and treated with dignity and respect. A fantastic place. 'Home from Home'

Since the move, she has positively progressed and really started to take an interest in the world around her.

When the time came for my sister with Alzheimers to go into a nursing home, I took the recommendation of a friend whose husband had been there for some while. I wasn't disappointed and cannot speak too highly of Farnham Mill. Having had experience of visiting other, perfectly adequate nursing homes, Farnham Mill is a revelation. Staff (no agency) are always smiling and helpful, facilities excellent and spotless. My sister is not naturally sociable but is being patiently drawn out of her shell. If the time should ever come, I would be happy to go there.

Farnham Mill is a beautiful new home which is well designed and equipped to provide for the nursing care needs of its residents but it is the staff who I cannot thank enough for the exceptional care of my mother in the final year of her life. She had a long and difficult struggle with dementia and was in crisis in her previous residential care home. Farnham Mill pulled out all the stops to look after my Mum as soon as they were contacted and the staff's expertise and caring commitment in meeting her ongoing and changing needs during her time there was outstanding. Farnham Mill - thank you.

A lovely, caring home that is excellent in all its aspects.

My parents moved in August 2018. One has Parkinson's the other a heart condition and dementia. They are able to remain in the same bedroom and the nurses are excellent with their medical needs. The care staff are patient with the symptoms of dementia which include shouting and venting frustration on them. Family visit four times a week and the staff are open to our suggestions. I would recommend them strongly.

Having examined more than six other care homes, Farnham Mill stood out. My wife is very content and I feel she is in the right place. I have peace of mind and our grandchildren are very comfortable when visiting.

I reviewed The Farnham Mill earlier in the year as excellent but felt that I should also update my review. Sadly over the last 4 weeks, my mother needed very intensive nursing care leading up to end of life care. My Sister has commented earlier but we just cannot recommend highly enough the professional care, nursing skill and support mum received and the kind consideration extended to all the family at such a difficult time it completely exceeded our expectations supporting us all on a very difficult journey. The compassion came from across all the staff members including the Senior Nurses, Carers, Management and household team - As I have said before, Mum really thought of The Mill as home! I can never thank you all enough.

The friendly and welcoming atmosphere made the Farnham Mill a lovely environment in which to visit mum. We always felt part of a large family and want to thank all the amazing staff for making mum's stay a happy and comfortable experience.

The commitment to the provision of every aspect of care in Farnham Mill is outstanding and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a caring home for their relatives.

Mum moved to Farnham Mill from another care home as we felt she was not getting enough attention. Within a week we noticed an improvement in her communication and her general well-being. The staff treated her with genuine affection, they not only cared for her but cared about her. As a family, we were always welcomed and informed of her condition. She died peacefully aged 99 3/4.

Great service, care and communication at a very difficult time for the family. Through a lot of teamwork, my aunt made it through and we still have her with us.

My only regret is that my mother's Alzheimer's Disease does not allow her to appreciate how well she is being looked after.
