Mum was a resident of Farnham Mill for 2 years she sadly passed away at Christmas. We were so pleased that we found Farnham Mill Nursing Home and it gave the family comfort that she was being looked after so well. The friendly and professional staff from the lovely receptionist to the professional carers
and nurses helped mum to live the best life she could with Alzheimer's. There was always a lot of activities for mum. Mum was always an elegant lady who loved her clothes and jewellery she was always well dressed. More importantly for us she was happy at FM. When the time came to say goodbye to mum the staff looked after us as well, realising what a sensitive time it was for the family and giving us a lot of support and kindness. For anyone in this situation I cannot recommend FM highly enough, if you are in the heart-breaking situation where a loved one needs 24/7 care, please consider this residential care home, your loved ones will be in a safe pair of hands with the lovely staff and treated with dignity.

I would like to say how happy I am with the love and care mum receives from the lovely staff at Farnham Mill. It is a lovely clean nursing home with friendly dedicated staff. My sisters and I think it's the best. There are so many different activities they do with the residents and some they include
the families too. Well done and thank you to the team, a great job you are all doing.

Our beloved mother passed away in December. Every staff member of the Care Home was outstanding in their care, kindness, professionalism and all-round brilliance. Mum had been unwell for about a month, and it felt different this time as if she wasn't going to bounce back. I had many conversations with
the amazing GM and Nurses about the reality of the situation. They were so supportive and assured me that mum would be cared and loved for until the end at Farnham Mill. We did not want her to go to Hospital. The staff were fantastic about keeping the family updated as to her condition enabling my two sons to get down from Manchester in time to see her. I will never forget their kindness and sensitivity to both mum and us as she neared the end. Also, after she passed peacefully away without pain. They cared for all of us as they did our mother and grandmother. Seeing staff at the funeral also showed just how much they really did care. They are quite simply the best without a doubt!

My parents have been residents for four years and I am really happy to say that the level of individual care for each of them has been exceptional during the whole time. All the staff are so friendly, caring and professional. The regular reports for each parent are informative and demonstrate a very
personal understanding by the staff. The many activities are well organised and provide plenty of variety and sociability to the residents' morning and afternoons. The staff are also so friendly and welcoming to all visitors and are quick to recognise us each time we visit. Our family are so grateful for the kindness and care given to my parents every day.

My dad has been at Farnham Mill now for almost a year. We are really pleased with how well he has settled in and feel entirely confident that he is well looked after and cared for. We looked at a number of different options for dad, but felt that Farnham Mill was more of a community and the staff were
a team. It's a lovely environment with very little, if any, staff turnover. Residents are encourage not to sit alone in their rooms all day. There are lots of activities to get involved in. The staff are amazing in every way!

I have a great love for Farnham Mill Nursing Home and my experience has always been exemplary.
Having been the daughter of two past residents and a volunteer, I have continued my association even after the passing of my mum and dad. I felt I did not want to drop my connection with Farnham Mill and
continue to help as often as I can to collect urgent prescriptions and make errands to the hospital and doctor's surgery. Also on these visits I am able to interact with the residents, many of whom I have come to know very well.
There is always a friendly welcome from all the staff as soon as you walk through the front door. The loving, caring atmosphere throughout the home is heart warming. It has been a great pleasure to help at Farnham Mill. I hope I can continue my connection for many years to come.

I am a volunteer at Farnham Mill. My parents were residents for nearly four years. In this time I got to know many of the staff really well and I became part of the "Farnham Mill family". When both my parents passed away I found that I did not want to lose my connection with Farnham Mill, so I became
a volunteer. I now help every fortnight with the flower arranging activity which takes place every week. The residents get together and thoroughly enjoy taking part, sharing a laugh and a joke with volunteers and staff whilst making some lovely flower arrangements! At the end of the session, it is time for a cup of tea and a chat with individual residents and the vases of flowers are taken to residents' rooms for them to enjoy. I look forward to my visits to Farnham Mill and I always leave feeling that with the help of the wonderful staff and volunteers I have helped in a small way to achieve a happy and positive experience for the residents which is the essence of Farnham Mill.

It's difficult (impossible?) to fault the care given at Farnham Mill. They have made the difficult transition from independence at home to what is, let's face it, an institutional environment bearable. All staff go out of their way to make everyone completely at ease with the decision. They are superb
and genuinely care.

I am very happy with the care my mother is receiving. My mother was fiercely independent but had a stroke last year and needs nursing care. She was in another home but hated it and was becoming depressed. Farnham Mill really looks at how to stimulate their residents and has scheduled events especially
because that will interest my mother. Her mood and health have improved as a result. I am very happy with the care she received.

The nursing home staff are excellent. There are key staff who care for Mum and Dad who we and they have good relationships with. We know them by name and they know ours. This ranges from reception staff to the maintenance team as well as nurses and carers. Both parents are well cared for, safe and
content.

Our parents have been residents at Farnham Mill for exactly a year and during that time our lives have been completely transformed for the better. Staff respect our parent's desire for privacy and independence but they also understand that gentle encouragement to get involved in individual and group
activities can be hugely beneficial and enjoyable. They have their own lovely garden room with a patio and stream close by but are also involved in the gardening and cooking clubs and enjoy music and dancing regularly. Their lives are fuller than was possible in the last few years living independently. As relatives, we have the peace of mind that their physical and mental health, eyesight, weight and teeth are constantly monitored and illnesses are shorter and less stressful for them than before. It is a pleasure to visit our parents now and to take part in community events. Our parents cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful staff at Farnham Mill and everything they do for them.

My mum moved from another home (same chain) to Farnham Mill last September due to her changing needs. I really like the light, open, bright and airy feel of the home. Each time I visit all of the staff on every level are very welcoming towards me and are so kind and caring towards Mum and all residents.
The home is kept spotless and has beautiful gardens which are very well-tended, for residents to enjoy. There are plenty of activities planned each week also visits from singers, dancers, therapy dogs, pigmy goats and recently chickens and ducks to name a few. I am always notified immediately if there are any changes in Mum's care or condition this gives me much reassurance that Mum is in the best place possible.

Staff are always extremely helpful and friendly when visiting. It must be easy to get distracted working in a nursing home, but you never feel a burden asking for extra support for the person you're visiting. Staff know residents' first names and are constantly visible and providing care. This is an
ease to my mind. I have a lot of respect for those providing the care, and they do so with patience and respect.

Farnham Hill continues to achieve the highest standards. Their care for my mother is individually tailored, skilful, gentle and kind. A recent chest infection was quickly spotted and she was on prophylactic medication on the same day. As dementia progresses there is a risk of loss of dignity. I see
continuing attention to my mother's nutrition, comfort and appearance. I attribute this success largely to the continuity of staffing and respect between colleagues at all levels, from cleaners (without whom the best care in the world would struggle) to general managers.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.877)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.877) out of 10 for Farnham Mill Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 80 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 80 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.877 for Farnham Mill Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (849 Excellents x 5) + (89 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 952 Ratings = 4.877
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Farnham Mill Nursing Home is based on 80 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 80 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

‘Working as the deputy manager in Farnham Mill NH has enabled me to utilise a wealth of transferable skills developed during my 42yrs nursing experience. I am a strong believer that here’s no real substitute for the intensely rewarding and fulfilling nature of looking after older people. I am very passionate about ensuring residents are provided with attentive and respectful care, at the same time ensuring that they retain their dignity and independence during the latter stages of life.

I love being able to take time to talk, listen and understand what matters to the resident, as It is important that residents can express choices and feel involved in the way their care is planned and delivered.
