Farnham Mill Nursing Home is committed to the highest standards of service and care, within a friendly and happy, family-run setting. It specialises in Nursing, Dementia, Parkinson's and End-of-life care. The Home is rated as Good Overall by CQC.

Its aim is to provide the highest level of care for residents, in a dignified and compassionate way. With the best facilities and equipment, in a comfortable home with highly trained, experienced staff. The home has 60 large bedroom suites, with floor to ceiling windows, creating a very light and bright atmosphere. Outside there is a wonderful Mill Pond, landscaped gardens and a wildlife meadow. There is also a quiet courtyard garden with raised planters, all accessed by level flat paths.

Compassionate, caring and professional staff try to improve the quality of life for those who have chosen to live in the home. The approach is not 'one routine fits all', but rather a more personal care plan, that makes allowances for the individual's needs and concerns. There is a full and diverse range of activities in place to help residents pursue their personal interests

The nursing home staff are excellent. There are key staff who care for Mum and Dad who we and they have good relationships with. We know them by name and they know ours. This ranges from reception staff to the maintenance team as well as nurses and carers. Both parents are well cared for, safe and
content.

I can't speak highly enough of Farnham Mill Nursing Home. After a dreadful experience placing my mother for 2 weeks of respite care in one of the large 'chain' care homes last year, I knew I had to find something much better for her when the time came for full-time residential care. I was very worried
that this might not be possible. Farnham Mill is a family-run home that has just two locations. From the moment I was given a tour, I knew without a doubt I had found the best home possible for my mother.
She has been there for 7 months now and my gratitude to the staff there is huge. From the friendly and efficient reception desk staff to the hands-on manager to the highly trained care staff and nurses to the wonderful activities team down to the chefs and cleaners everyone is dedicated to the care, comfort, safety and enjoyment of the residents. Visitors are also made to feel so welcome and it feels a bit like another family in a home away from home. I wish I could write more!

Our parents have been residents at Farnham Mill for exactly a year and during that time our lives have been completely transformed for the better. Staff respect our parent's desire for privacy and independence but they also understand that gentle encouragement to get involved in individual and group
activities can be hugely beneficial and enjoyable. They have their own lovely garden room with a patio and stream close by but are also involved in the gardening and cooking clubs and enjoy music and dancing regularly. Their lives are fuller than was possible in the last few years living independently. As relatives, we have the peace of mind that their physical and mental health, eyesight, weight and teeth are constantly monitored and illnesses are shorter and less stressful for them than before. It is a pleasure to visit our parents now and to take part in community events. Our parents cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful staff at Farnham Mill and everything they do for them.

Farnham Mill had organised a weekend BBQ for residents and associated family members and friends. We attended the event are were welcomed by the staff and spent an afternoon being serenaded by a professional singer as well as enjoying drinks and BBQ food. A great social event was had by all.

The care of my mother-in-law is exceptional. The whole family are welcomed and treated with respect. The staff have an excellent rapport with residents. The transition to full-time care was made less painful for my wife during what is naturally a difficult time.

My mum moved from another home (same chain) to Farnham Mill last September due to her changing needs. I really like the light, open, bright and airy feel of the home. Each time I visit all of the staff on every level are very welcoming towards me and are so kind and caring towards Mum and all residents.
The home is kept spotless and has beautiful gardens which are very well-tended, for residents to enjoy. There are plenty of activities planned each week also visits from singers, dancers, therapy dogs, pigmy goats and recently chickens and ducks to name a few. I am always notified immediately if there are any changes in Mum's care or condition this gives me much reassurance that Mum is in the best place possible.

Staff are always extremely helpful and friendly when visiting. It must be easy to get distracted working in a nursing home, but you never feel a burden asking for extra support for the person you're visiting. Staff know residents' first names and are constantly visible and providing care. This is an

Farnham Hill continues to achieve the highest standards. Their care for my mother is individually tailored, skilful, gentle and kind. A recent chest infection was quickly spotted and she was on prophylactic medication on the same day. As dementia progresses there is a risk of loss of dignity. I see
continuing attention to my mother's nutrition, comfort and appearance. I attribute this success largely to the continuity of staffing and respect between colleagues at all levels, from cleaners (without whom the best care in the world would struggle) to general managers.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Farnham Mill for over 4 years. We cared for her ourselves for several years but know we don't have to worry about her because she's better cared for at Farnham Mill, with regular GP visits etc. She's always calm and content, reflecting the atmosphere created in
the home. The care staff are so patient, kind and attentive with her and she's always clean, in clean clothes. It's lovely how they pamper her when doing her hair and nails. The food's excellent and is prepared on the premises. The home is purpose-built, well-equipped, well-maintained and always smells clean and fresh.
There's a full, activity timetable that varies weekly, which she (and I) can join in with as much as she wants. She particularly enjoys the musical entertainment, animal visits and family activities like picnics and fireworks.
I can visit whenever I want and always get a warm welcome and friendly chat at reception, which really helps! Thanks so much to all the staff.

My husband was at Farnham Mill Nursing Home for over three years, during which time his mental capacity deteriorated seriously. From day one, he received first-class care, not only medically but with every attention given to his personal needs (including his quite large appetite!) Loving consideration
was given to him as an individual and his dignity was always respected.
I have the highest praise for all the staff, from senior to the most junior. As well as their care of my husband, they were unfailingly kind to me; they made me feel like one of the family.
At the time of my husband’s death, he was nursed with loving and understanding care and his sister and I were given unstinting care and kindness.

My father lived at Farnham Mill for 7 months having moved from Hill Brow (part of the same group of care homes), during which time he became increasingly frail. All the staff were fabulous; incredibly caring and supportive and always treated Dad with dignity and respect. While he was still able to,
he enjoyed some of the activities, particularly anything musical.
My sister and I were kept well informed of any issues and were very much a part of any decision-making regarding his welfare. We were always made to feel welcome and the staff really looked after us in Dad's last few days in particular.
I cannot recommend Farnham Mill highly enough!

The visit was a two-week respite stay for my mother over the Christmas holidays, shortly after being discharged from hospital. She had an initial reticence because of her love of her own home but quickly settled. She thought all of the staff were amazing, always attentive and pleasant. The food was
lovely and there is no doubt in my mind that she has grown stronger physically and mentally during her stay.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone with similar needs.

My friend was a resident for 7 months and I visited at least twice a week. The two girls on reception were always polite and welcoming perfect for greeting visitors. The care staff is very easy to chat to and always around if needed. The nursing staff is second to none. There is always something going
on for residents and we joined in many of the garden parties, afternoon teas and sing-a-longs.

Always receive a warm welcome when I visit. The staff know who I am and give great updates on how Mum has been through the week. I also get regular updates between visits via email and phone calls. Any changes are discussed and explained. Thanks.

Delighted with the care received since my father moved in a couple of months ago. My father and his close family are always made extremely welcome - the staff on the door always remember all of our names, and always get up to help my disabled mother open the door when she visits as soon as they see
her approaching. Attention was taken to fully understand all of my father's care needs, in particular special diet. During the settling-in period as staff got to know my father they constantly adjusted and added to the detailed care plan to make sure everything was exactly as he liked down to the tiny details – for example, the TV put on for him daily onto channel he likes and tea served without too much milk! They even allowed us to host a small celebration event for my parent's 60th wedding anniversary and when we turned up with our food (as agreed) we found they had laid out the room beautifully with flowers and set out the table for everyone in the family. Cannot recommend them enough.

I left the NHS where I was Ward Manager of an elderly care unit at the Royal Free Hospital when I assumed control of Woodlands & Hill Brow Ltd following my mother's retirement in 1998.


I am immensely proud of the standards of care we achieve and the family ethos and feel which runs through the heart of our homes.

I worked for a well-known high street bank but changed my career which was inspired by my mum’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis and the impact it had and still has on my family’s lives. To see families being able to spend time together is my real inspiration and to be able to spend time with our residents is a real privilege on a day-to-day basis.

I joined Farnham Mill in July 2018 and feel proud of my role as activities coordinator.


My passion is making our residents happy and I believe this is part and parcel of good care.


My job as activities coordinator allows me lots of opportunities to do this, through organising lots of different activities and trips that our residents enjoy. These include arts and crafts, quiz's, trips out to the pub, shopping and to garden centres. Plus lots of musical performances.

I was drawn to Farnham Mill because I had heard about how the company offer outstanding care to their residents and takes care of its staff.


On a personal level, I have always been passionate about caring for the elderly, especially those with dementia. It is my belief our residents should receive excellent nursing care and I am proud to be part of the outstanding team at Farnham Mill.

My name is Doug, I am the facilities manager for the Woodlands and Hill Brow Group. I am a qualified electrician and have been in the building industry for nearly 40 years. I was introduced to the team at Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd when I was involved in the building of Hill House nursing home and then when I designed the electrical systems at Farnham Mill. I take pride in my maintenance team and in providing a safe, well maintained, attractive place for the residents and staff alike to live and work.
