Farnham Mill Nursing Home is committed to the highest standards of service and care, within a friendly and happy, family-run setting. It specialises in Nursing, Dementia, Parkinson's and End-of-life care. The Home is rated as Good Overall by CQC.

Its aim is to provide the highest level of care for residents, in a dignified and compassionate way. With the best facilities and equipment, in a comfortable home with highly trained, experienced staff. The home has 60 large bedroom suites, with floor to ceiling windows, creating a very light and bright atmosphere. Outside there is a wonderful Mill Pond, landscaped gardens and a wildlife meadow. There is also a quiet courtyard garden with raised planters, all accessed by level flat paths.

Compassionate, caring and professional staff try to improve the quality of life for those who have chosen to live in the home. The approach is not 'one routine fits all', but rather a more personal care plan, that makes allowances for the individual's needs and concerns. There is a full and diverse range of activities in place to help residents pursue their personal interests

Very informative first visit for my brother and I when choosing a nursing home for our mum. Every member of staff and the volunteers we meet are so caring, friendly and approachable. The home is exceptionally clean and the grounds are maintained well. I'm updated on Mum's care. It's great to receive
updates and pictures of the residents enjoying activities. Because of Mum's lack of ability to communicate, it is heartwarming to see her reach out to hold the hand or hug and smile at all the staff she sees. It is a relief to our family to know that our mum is well cared for.

Farnham Mill Nursing home provides excellent holistic care for my mother with dementia. The building is purpose-built and provides a safe environment. The care is exceptional and they know the residents so well that they often anticipate their needs. It is a very loving and caring environment. The residents
are able to live the lives they want; I believe how they want, without any repercussions which is permanent with dementia patients this allows them to be calm and relaxed and feel safe.

My 95-year-old aunt has been a resident of Farnham Mill nursing home for over two years. As her nest of kin and her power of attorney, as well as her nephew, I want to say how well she has been looked after at Farnham Mill. All the staff have been consistently professional, caring and supportive, and
I know that my aunt could not be in better hands. She has several co-morbidities as well as dementia, which can make her behaviour somewhat unpredictable - but through it all, the Farnham Mill staff have provided me complete confidence that she is in the best possible hands. My aunt now wants to spend most of her time in bed in her room, so while she does not make the most of the Farnham Mill facilities and entertainment, she does really enjoy the visiting hairdresser. At some point, my aunt will reach the end of her life, and I have regular meetings with the management of Farnham Mill to ensure that part of the process is understood and will be managed according to my wishes for my aunt.

My mother has been a resident of Farnham Mill for about 6 months following the death of my father last year. The care she receives is excellent. The staff are always cheerful and go out of their way to treat her as an individual and to make her as happy and comfortable as they can, and any requests
are dealt with with care and efficiency. The calibre of staff is high across all departments from the nursing and care staff, to reception, activities, catering, cleaning, laundry and maintenance. Management are adaptable and helpful. The building is light and well designed and kept very clean. The gardens and pond are well maintained and the ducks and wildlife are a talking point. Communication between the staff and my myself is excellent and the staff listen to my mother, and I know she appreciates visits from management to keep her 'in the loop' too. I am a regular visitor and I'm always made very welcome.

My wife entered The Mill on Christmas Eve 2021.
On entry, the atmosphere is quiet and calm and one of the best features is that I have been able to visit every day.
The Mill lives up to its description during our initial introductory inspection and as a family, we are very happy with what it provides.
It
is clean, comfortable and well run. Members of the owning family are frequently in evidence. Staff are competent and cheerful and management is amenable and adaptable.
The building is light and modern and residents receive individual attention.
On a mundane note, there is good, free visitor parking!

My father has suffered a steady decline over the past three years with his vascular dementia and he regressed quite quickly 12 months ago, moving from his independent retirement home when he needed full-time nursing care. From March of this year after several false starts, I finally found Farnham Mill.
It was such a relief for me, and I cannot speak highly enough of the surroundings and the team. I knew from seeing Dad's decline that he needed very specific and attentive, joined-up care. The team are constantly in touch with me ensuring that I know every element of his health, medication, general care, and state of mind. He has a large bright room which we have been able to personalise, and he is able to spend plenty of assisted time in the general open plan areas and gardens. Needing help with every aspect of his day from washing to dressing and eating, the team are all exceptionally caring and patient. It is also very easy to visit Dad as I am his principal carer.

Farnham Mill Nursing Home is a very friendly and very caring home and the care and attention given to my mother has been first class. There is great continuity of care as a result of the home only staffing with permanently employed staff and do not use agency staff. This is not only a great benefit
to my mother but also to my father who is a regular visitor and other members of our family who visit and know us by name. A high level of professional care and help is given by all members of staff including senior nurses, care assistants, receptionists and kitchen staff. We are very happy that my mother is in a very caring home and environment.

Very friendly and caring staff. Excellent facilities. I have had a couple of exacerbations which were dealt with promptly and correctly. It is a very safe environment, and residents are treated with respect. My family are kept informed of my well-being.

My wife, Father in law and I could not be more pleased with the care my mother in law is receiving. Everyone is incredibly caring and friendly and professional. They have really made it her home. They are very creative and thoughtful and inject as much fun and interest into her days as possible. The

After seeing Farnham Mill Nursing Home in action for over two years, caring for my father, I have only praise for the whole team.
The excellent service starts at reception. This is the anchor of the home, having ensured all Covid-19 testing requirements are implemented for the protection of the home
including relatives, care partners and care volunteers. Reception effectively answer and action any queries.
Every department works smoothly together from the medical side to housekeeping.
Activities have ensured my father is included in group activities or one to one sessions including conversing in French - French is my father's much loved second language.
The dining requirements are carefully monitored ensuring my father enjoys his food and is well nourished.
The continuity of staff, the unending caring and patience of the Farnham Mill team is exemplary.
The Care Home owners are attentive wanting themselves and their teams to achieve their best for the residents and their relatives.

My aunt received exemplary care throughout her stay at Farnham Mill. The staff were pro-active, gentle and caring, and kept me well-informed about my aunt's well-being. Although my aunt's ability to communicate was limited, the staff did everything they could to get to know her, chat with her and involve
her in the many activities – there is always plenty going on here, as the photos in the weekly activities email show!


The management, financial, admin and (especially) the reception staff were also unfailingly courteous, helpful, efficient and kind. The nursing home is colourful, clean and airy. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed and the staff helped my aunt feel at home by putting up her pictures and arranging her ornaments. I would definitely recommend Farnham Mill to anyone looking for a caring yet stimulating environment for a loved one. If your idea of a care home is residents vegetating in a dingy room, then visit Farnham Mill to see how different proper care can be!

We discovered Farnham Mill a couple of months ago when our mother was being lined up for discharge from the hospital. The physical environment including the rooms and communal areas looked attractive from the beginning, but most of all the nursing and activities staff, employed and volunteers alike,
have proved highly engaged, making a great effort to understand and adapt to the residents' likes and dislikes. Covid restrictions have made visiting somewhat laborious over the past few months but the 'gate guardians' are friendly and the payoff is that care partners' can have full confidence that residents' are kept safe and well looked after.

The care and kindness of all staff have made the move to Farnham Mill so much easier than I expected.
Everyone takes time to ensure Mum's needs are met. Although my mum can't participate very much in the varied activity programme, the coordinators do a fantastic job at ensuring she is present and
involved as much as possible. In addition to informal chats when I visit, I receive weekly emails and photos from the activity coordinators summarising what she's been doing. This is so reassuring. The nursing staff also keep me updated with any changes to care and any thoughts or suggestions I have are welcomed and taken into account. The care partner scheme is a great initiative that has enabled me to be involved in some aspects of care mum's care, which has been very important for us.
The environment is clean, bright and airy. There is always a lovely atmosphere, lots of smiles, activity and a sense of positivity and belonging. Thank you!

As the responsible carer for my aunt, I wanted to find somewhere that was bright and comfortable, with real attention to the resident's needs and wishes. Farnham Mill has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Coming out of a long term hospital stay meant that there was
a need for a certain amount of rehabilitation and rest and I can see the improvement in my aunt's physical and mental well-being from being in a social and active environment. The home has made her room feel homely, with pictures on the wall and her belongings around her. The home makes a point of open communication and I feel very reassured about the high-level care she is getting.

I cannot praise the home highly enough.


They do not use agency staff, so the patient was able to quickly learn who her carers are, recognise and chat to them. She particularly appreciates how often someone pops into her room - it appears to be several times an hour in my experience during visits.


The

central meeting area is open and bright. Patients can choose to stay in their rooms or socialise. They do not all have to eat together and the home has accommodated my patient's requests for slightly different meal times and has also listened to her precise instructions for how she likes her tea!


There is a hairdressing room and jacuzzi bath for patients. The rooms and communal areas are cleaned daily. She has chosen so far not to take part in group activities so I cannot comment on them but have noticed them going on during my visits.


Their Covid security is very strict which is excellent for the patients.

Dad was with Farnham Mill Nursing Home for only 5 weeks, but in that time, I got to know the team and how they operate, despite having to operate strict Covid rules. I am so pleased that we found Farnham Mills as I really do not think of any way they could have cared for my Dad any better. The team
from the front desk, through to the nursing staff were attentive 24/7 and always there for Dad or any of his visitors.


Sadly, Dad didn't manage to use many of the facilities, but from a nursing and 24/7 care perspective, and sensitivity towards the needs of the family, they have been exemplary.


I'm not sure what to say regarding food, because I didn't have experience of it, but the activities looked fun from a distance.

Previously my brother spent some time at another nursing home where the staff said he was bedbound, unable to sit up in a chair and needed to be hand-fed. His lack of mobility and dementia may be far advanced but care at Farnham Mill has demonstrated that this is completely untrue. The home's policy
of positive action to get patients up and about and to participate in group activities as far as their capacity allows has paid off. He may not have been transformed into the man he once was but he is yet to become the vegetable I had feared. He has been joined there by his wife who has also benefitted from this new environment. Lack of mobility had meant that for the last six years she seldom left the family home or met anyone apart from home-carers. She can now socialize with other patients and roam round the long corridors of the home leaning on her four-wheeled walker knowing that staff members will always be to hand should she need help.

I left the NHS where I was Ward Manager of an elderly care unit at the Royal Free Hospital when I assumed control of Woodlands & Hill Brow Ltd following my mother's retirement in 1998.


I am immensely proud of the standards of care we achieve and the family ethos and feel which runs through the heart of our homes.

I was introduced to the team at Woodlands and Hill Brow Ltd when I was involved in the building of Hill House nursing home and then when I designed the electrical systems at Farnham Mill. I take pride in my maintenance team and in providing a safe, well maintained, attractive place for the residents and staff alike to live and work.
