My Mum was transferred from hospital and settled in instantly in December 2019, after having a week of respite in August 2019 also. All the family love to visit her in her new home and all made to feel very welcome. We have all enjoyed meals with her and feel comfortable at any time to visit her. She receives exceptional care and I feel reassured that she is safe and well cared for in 5* accommodation. My Mum was always a sociable person and she now has that back in her life at Formby Manor. We cannot thank you enough for the care you give our Mum. Thank you from a daughter that has peace of mind.

When my friend came in for respite he was in a bad way. When I came to visit him a week later he had put weight on and said he loved being here. When I asked if he would come back he said yes.

My father has recently moved into Formby Manor Care Centre. From the first visit, to say I am impressed is an understatement. The management and staff show nothing but care and affection to both residents and their families.

For example, I booked an evening meal for my 9 and 10-year-old daughters to eat with there grandad; they asked for something that was not on the menu, this was made for them without question, and ice-cream with marshmallows was given for desert. First-class given by all.

My mother became a resident at the care centre in December. The very difficult decision of having to make a non family care provision was made much easier as soon as I stepped inside Formby Manor Care Centre. It does not look like a care centre but a 5 star hotel, so the concept of a 'care home' vanished from my mother. The care and attention that is given to my mum is excellent. All the staff treat mum with great care, respect and ensure her dignity is not compromised in any way. She is stimulated physically and mentally. A wise choice and no anxiety on both our parts.

I was visiting the area and came to see my relative as I had been told he was now a resident at Formby Manor. he was well, happy and settled in his new environment. I was amazed at the standard of Formby Manor having visited care homes when my husband required nursing care. It is far superior to any I have seen.

My Mum, who is 90, has had her second stay at Formby Manor this weekend as it was my youngest son's wedding. She went in the day before the wedding and the care she has received has been fantastic. She had her hair done on Saturday morning, then the staff got her ready in her wedding outfit and she was then accompanied by a member of staff, by taxi, to the wedding venue. A care assistant stayed with her all day to make sure that she had all that she needed and then took her back to Formby Manor when she was ready to go. What this has meant for me is that I was able to have time for myself to get ready for the wedding and then I could relax at the wedding in the knowledge that Mum was being looked after. We all had a wonderful day and I can’t thank the staff and management at Formby Manor enough. I would not hesitate in recommending this care home and their staff to any family that is looking for 5* care for their loved ones.

Excellent care provided to my father-in-law. The manager has very good leadership skills, her team work very well and have the patient's needs as a priority. Staff are brilliant, as are the facilities. They always have time for you as a family member which is very impatient.

I could not recommend highly enough the home and it's team. Thank you for looking after my father-in-law in such a lovely way.

My Nan recently had a short stay at Formby Manor Care Centre and I cannot recommend them highly enough. From the first-class facilities and accommodations to the wonderfully trained, caring and welcoming. My nan suffers from quite moderate dementia and struggles with her speech particularly. After her stay she seemed a lot more like her old self and was able to communicate much more coherently. I truly believe this is down to her interactions with Formby Manor Care's carefully trained staff and it meant a lot to me to have a conversation with my nan that was much more like we used to. She was treated with dignity and respect at all times and also very much enjoyed food, which she said was delicious. In summary, Formby Manor Care is a beautiful, calming and relaxing environment of the highest standard, and I highly recommend it.

My mother, who is in a very vulnerable state, is safe and well cared for which obviously is our priority. The home, when I visit, is always welcoming and has a lovely atmosphere. The furnishing has been done with style and comfort and you feel very aware that the staff are trying to create a caring and happy atmosphere. My mother is always well dressed and has food on request. She is always telling me how nice all the staff are.

I have the highest praise for the home in which my wife became resident on 19th December last year. Everything in the home is of the highest quality but a "family feeling" pervades throughout the home, made so by the caring staff, creating such a pleasant atmosphere.

Residents enjoy the programme of activities, with karaoke high on the list so far as my wife is concerned.

Mum has now been in Formby Manor for one month and has limited mobility via her walking frame. She is very well looked after by the excellent staff who always make a point of engaging with her. The food is very good, especially the homemade soups. Naturally, there are some meals she is not keen on, but in those instances, one of her favourite alternatives is usually especially made available. A good feature is that the restaurant staff tailor the size of the portions offered to meet her specific needs - there is nothing more off-putting than being given a plate heaped up with food, knowing you can't eat it all. A minor recent gripe, which I am sure will prove to be short term, is that since being moved to the ground floor from the first floor, lunchtimes seem to vary greatly rather than commencing at the advised 12:30. I am sure the management will sort this out.

Review from Mary N (Sister of Resident) published on 20 November 2019 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Formby Manor has an amazing environment and a very person-centred approach. My sister has been a resident now for 3 months and placing her into a care home was a very difficult transition for all of us. Having said that, all the staff at Formby Manor have done their very best to help her settle and to put our worries to bed. From the Home Manager right through to the auxiliary staff everyone has done their best to make my sisters life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. There is a great atmosphere and the activities team make it a fun and enjoyable place to live and visit. It is a real home from home atmosphere and nothing is ever too much trouble. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it as a safe and secure environment.

The care in the home was excellent. My husband particularly liked one carer because he had the same silly sense of humour! Two other carers were very good too. Everyone was good.
The only negative was that I felt I had to be there with him all the time because he wasn't keen on sitting in the big lounge and I didn't like leaving him alone in his room at the end of the corridor, in case he tried to get out of his chair and fall.

I admire the patience of all of you.

My mother has been a resident at Formby Manor from not long after it opened. From day one, I have been totally impressed with the centre and all of its staff. Whenever I visit, there is always a warm welcome from the reception staff and the manager, and this continues on the first floor with the carers, hospitality, housekeeping, wellbeing and maintenance staff. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. If you visit at mealtimes or when tea and coffee are served, you are always invited to stay or offered a drink. This is so different from the place where my mum spent a week of respite care. The food is high quality, varied and nutritious and all residents are asked what their favourite foods are so these can be added to the menu. The well-being staff keep the residents entertained and mentally stimulated which is extremely beneficial to those living with dementia. I could say so much more about Formby Manor because it is exceptional. Thank you all for caring for Mum.

I have been working for New Care, now Lovett Care, as a Clinical Lead for some time. When an opportunity arose to become the Home manager at Formby Manor, I felt honoured to succeed the retiring Home Manager.

I have been supported not only by my residents, colleagues and relatives but also by the wider New Care community in my promotion. It is a privilege to work with a company that goes above and beyond daily, and this is right up to the senior management.

Lovett Care have the residents at the forefront of their ethos, and they always make sure their staff are supported; this is one of the many reasons I am passionate about not just Formby Manor but Lovett Care in general. I look forward to many more years working in this new role, learning from my peers and being within the Lovett Care family.

I have worked in the care sector for 7 years; I started my career as a Care Assistant. I have been with Lovett Care since 2020. I started my career at Formby Manor Care Centre as a Care Assistant. I loved my role as a Care Assistant and wanted to further my career with a company that I know looks after its staff. From Care Assistant, I went on to be a Team Leader in the home. I worked as a Team Leader for 10 months, and when the opportunity came to become a Head of Care, I jumped at the chance. I was in the role for 6 months and have now been promoted to Deputy Manager. I have never felt as supported by a company as I do here. The home I work for is amazing, with amazing staff and leadership, but I have found in my new role that the support is not just the staff from my own home; it is a whole company approach, and I love that.
