Overview

The Review Score of 8 (maximum of 10) for Garden City Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Garden City Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.569 for Garden City Court is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.569

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.383 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Garden City Court is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 15 positive Reviews (75 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 15 Target = 0.133

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Our experience of this care home is excellent. The residents live in small units of 15 residents, each according to their level of care needs. The units are light and modern. The staff have good knowledge of individual residents and appear to provide a good level of care. Also, the situation is very pleasant with lovely open areas, both inside and out. We like the idea that Quantum is a not for profit organisation.

Over the past few months, I have come to realise what a friendly home it is, often getting to know staff and assistants by Christian names. There are so many physical activities such as ball throwing and bouncing, craft works, singing, old songs and competition questions. There are gardening activities, which my family have helped with. Musical acts like Elvis are great. Trips to garden centres and outings to Southend etc helps the more active residents. Many of them share their life interests with you.

This care home is one of the best you could go into, it's very friendly and everyone who works there is very caring, kind and devoted and works very hard to give the residents a very happy stay and life.
I would recommend it to anyone.

Very well appointed rooms.
Staff very pleasant and caring.
My husband who has walking problems and incontinence issues is well looked after.
Food good with choice and a lot of cold and hot drinks.
My husband attends the Q club so he knew the building. A lovely airy room, comfortable bed.

My experience is as a visitor to my wife daily for about four years and as a resident for the last year. Staff are human with human failings, but with remarkable patience and kindness. The home is in general well run and conditions are comfortable. The building is new and any minor problems have, so far, been dealt with promptly.

On the assumption that management at all levels continue on the same course, I look forward the spending the rest of my life here. PS. I have not ticked 'excellent'in the questionnaire below, because I believe there is always room for improvement.
