Good afternoon I have a close relative who stays in room ch7 and has stayed there for 2 years she is happy and contented as anyone can be who is away from their home and that is becauser of her mobility and heath the home is immaculate and well maintained to a very high standard the leadership of the home and staff is perfection.
We are delighted to hear that your relative is happy and well cared for.
Your feedback means a great deal to our team, who work hard every day to provide a safe, welcoming, and compassionate home. Thank you for your continued support.
My mum is well looked after and I am very happy with the care she receives. The staff are very approachable and deal with any concerns we may have in a timely manner. Any health issues are closely monitored and we are kept informed at every stage. The relatives meeting arranged by management and held regularly are very informative and helpful. It was a difficult decision to look for a care home for my mum but we are so glad that we chose Gilmerton.
Thank you for trusting us with your mums care.
I would like to say mu mum has been in Gilmenton Care Home for 3 years and I can honestly say she has had the best care since moving in the staff are amazing. I could not ask for eany more.
All the criteria, food, cleanliness etc are important and Gilmerton Care Home merits at least 'good' for them all. My wife has dementia and by far the most important factor both is that she is treated with respect as a sentient human being. She needs understanding and compassion for her shortcomings. All the staff at the home understand this and I can rest assured that she is clean and comfortable and respected. I ask her every day if people are nice to her. I marvel at how her carers cope. I am 85 and like Robert Burns' ti a mouse am aprehensive about my future. If I do need care I hope it is in somewhere like Gilmerton Care Home.
My mum was placed in Gilmerton a month ago. She has mixed dementia, is relative immobile and registered blind. This was an incredibly tricky move/placement for mum but has been made all the easier by the wonderful staff in the Churchill unit. Mum is slowly growing in confidence and is relatively content. The staff have been patient and understanding.
We will share your kind words with our team who work hard to provide support to everyone.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely review.
My wife has been a resident since January 2025. My family and I, and all our visiting friends are delighted with the care and dedication she is receiving from all members of management and staff. We are constantly amazed and thankful for the smiles which greet her and us every day.
Your support and appreciation mean a great deal to us,...
Always find the staff are courteous and helpful. They are always good at keeping me updated with any issues regarding my mum. The manager has an open door policy which I find very helpful and very good if there are any issues that need addressed.
Dad moved into the care home in October 2025, it took about a month to settle in properly and he is starting to enjoy his new home. He is very happy with the services provided, i.e. staff are all nice. His room is lovely, plenty of activities to get involved in. The food is superb, everything is homemade, etc. Us as a family could not be happier. Gilmerton Care Home as a full package is superb and gives us peace of mind he's getting well looked after from start to finish. This gives us great peace of mind. Thanks to you all.
We truly appreciate your kind words and confidence in our care.
Communication with team members is good.
There are also lots of activities and outings for the residents to take part in.
Your comments mean a great deal to our team and will be shared with them. We truly appreciate your support.
My Mother has been in the care home for over 5yrs and I have always found the staff excellent, the service they provide has been of a level that has allowed me to relax from almost the first week, I was very nervous when my Mother went in but the interactions with them and my viewing of the work they do under difficult circumstances has gave me high level of respect for them and the work they do.
Thank you so much for your kind review! We are grateful for your trust and so pleased you are happy with the care we provide to your mother.
I would highly recommend Gilmerton to anyone.
My father's been happy here from day one, and I've seen first hand just how gently, patiently, and well the whole team cares for him and other residents.
Everything is always clean and organised, he loves the food, adores the staff, and enjoys regular activities and trips out.
I'm always met with a warm reception from the team, and I'm regularly and appropriately updated on everything as well.
For the first time in years I have genuine peace of mind and I honestly couldn't wish for a better home and people to keep him happy, healthy, and safe.
Thank you for your kind words. I will share your review with the staff team who are always striving to get to know everyone and deliver care to the best of their abilities.
A warm welcome from Management & Admin to the excellent care my father in-law receives.
The home is always clean and free from smells and the staff can't do enough to help.
Thank you for your kind review. We're committed to providing the highest standard of care, and we're so happy to know you feel reassured and confident in the support we provide.
My wife will have been in the home for 6 years on the 19th August. It is a brilliant home from the minute you walk in the door. The girls in reception always speak and ask how you are then there is the staff how are extra special they have a very low turn=over so everyone knows everybodys needs. I am often asked how my wife is and say I could not have a better home. I go to bed at night and dont worry. I know she is being well looked after.
Thank you kindly for leaving such a wonderful review. It means the world to our team to know that their hard work and dedication are making a real difference. We always strive to create a warm, safe, and welcoming environment for all our residents and their families, and feedback like yours encourages us to keep doing our very best every day.
Cannot fault the home at all. Staff are attentive and caring- not only to resident but family too. Kept well informed and supported. Mum kept clean, healthy and well looked after.

Overall this is a lovely care home with hard working staff, they are good at what they do. Keeping you updated if there's any issues and very polite & friendly when you visit.
Thank you for your review and and our kind and caring team take great pride in providing the very best care for your parent and extending a warm and friendly welcome to all visitors.
It's taking my dad a while to settle in as it's a massive change for him, but everyone is being very understanding and contacting me when he is upset and needs to talk to me.
I'm very happy with the care my dad is getting and find all the staff very easy to approach if I have any questions.
My mum has been a resident at Gilmerton Care Home for a number of years now. I am very happy with the care she received. My mum is very happy in the home and I have no concern about her safety or wellbeing, she enjoys participating in the numerous games and activities. She has been on numerous trips and has enjoyed every one. The staff are very good and carry out their duties with care and compassion. I would recommend the home to friends and family.
Very happy environment, my mother-in-law seems happy. The staff are very pleasant. The care home is spotless and there is always some kind of entertainment going on.
My mum is very happy with the services she gets and so I am. The place is always very clean, she enjoys the meals. The staff are brilliant and very caring. When we visit the staff offer us a coffee and biscuits which is lovely. Thanks.
From the girls in reception to the nurses and carers, you are made welcome. My wife gets exceptional care from the staff and they also look after me, asking how I am keeping etc. I could not recommend this home highly enough. I sleep at night knowing my wife is being well looked after.
