My mother has been in Gilmerton Care Home for two years. Her health has deteriorated over this time. I have been kept well informed at every stage. I know Mum is safe and well looked after by the excellent staff, who are very friendly and caring towards Mum and other residents. This gives the family
peace of mind.

On Saturday the 6th of August, my two daughters and I visited my wife for her birthday. The carers had the room all decorated with banners and flags. The four carers came into my wife's room carrying doughnuts, cakes, nibbles etc. Four cups of tea for us, signing happy birthday - the delight on my wife's
face was magical. The staff are excellent, can't do enough for my wife and us. The photo on Gilmerton has the phrase 'Our Helen', which I thought was brilliant - she is one of the family. Brilliant home.

Thank you to all the staff at Gilmerton Care Home for providing the care that my mother now needs. She struggled at home on her own for as long as she could and it is a relief to now know that she is being well looked after. I find the staff are careful, considerate and kind, patient with repeated requests
and they always do their best to listen and engage with the residents.

We went to see my mother here after her spending four months in hospital, where she was very low. We found a fantastic difference in her, she was so happy and we could see she was being very well cared for.

I am of the opinion that my sister has been extremely lucky to have been allocated to Gilmerton Care Home. The entire staff are very professional in carrying out their duties. Their skills are of the highest order. I personally have every confidence in their ability to look after my sister and all residents

The staff at Gilmerton Care Home are amazing. Lovely people. My wife could not have had better care from the staff. Lovely people. The staff at reception were just great, Four Seasons Health Care is so lucky to have such wonderful people managed by a lovely manager.

My grandmother has received excellent care at Gilmerton Care Home for more than 17 years! She is so well taken care of, the nursing staff are fabulous and they know who I am and are so friendly, they always go above and beyond. It's such a comfort to know it's the same people caring for her, the staff
have remained the same for years which must be a very good sign - as you don't stay where you're not happy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this facility and all of the staff.

I cannot thank the staff in mum's nursing home enough for the superb care and attention she has received over the past 18 years. She will be 95 years old tomorrow and has celebrated her 80th and 90th Birthdays with staff and family. She is so well cared for and the staff makes me feel so welcome and
are so accommodating when I visit. My mum has Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia, so she needs lots of personal care. Thank you so much.

Having visited my brother over a number of years I have always found the home to be a safe environment for staff, visitors and residents. I have never had an issue with the staff. Always find them friendly and helpful when needed. Plenty going on for residents and I can view pictures etc on the Facebook
page.

My mum has been in the home for a while now and has always had excellent care. The staff on her unit (Eden) are like family. At present my mum is frail due to her age and illnesses and the staff are carrying out her care with dignity and love. I have made to feel very welcome during my essential visit
to see my mum, as I always have done, I am so happy my mum is being looked after in Eden by the team.

Thank you to all the excellent staff and management at Gilmerton Care Home for the amazing care and support my nephew receives.
I miss my regular visits to the home, however, I can't thank the staff enough for the regular updates we receive on the home's private facebook group.
The staff go above
and beyond to ensure the residents receive the highest of care and in these unprecedented times have even ensured my nephew has had his hair cut by the care staff. Thank you to everyone.

I haven't actually been in the care home since lockdown in mid-March. However, the staff have been great about keeping me informed and have a super Facebook page. Sadly my mum got Covid but thankfully pulled through thanks to the dedicated care of the staff. I have been able to see my mum through a
window twice and today was her Birthday, and we were able to sing "Happy Birthday". I am so grateful for the opportunity.

My dad has been in Gilmerton Care Home for more than two years. He entered after a long stay in hospital, when we were unable to return home. I remember the moment he sat down in his own chair in his new room and the sense of relief we both felt. After a long time struggling to cope, and going from
home to hospital to home to hospital, it was finally OK to relax and breath again. That afternoon I saw how the carers helped Dad, and was impressed with how they did it. It has not changed. The environment is safe, warm and relaxing, and although yes, it's a care home, and of course we all swore Dad would never end up in one, well, it has been the best thing for him – for his health, wellbeing and peace of mind. I am happy with the care he receives here, and so is he.

My mum has been cared for at Gilmerton Care Home for the past 2 years. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 I have not seen her for the past 3 months. I miss her a lot. I do know that she is being taken care of though. When I call I get a friendly welcome from reception and then they put me through to the
cheerful staff on Gladstone wing. They give me an update on my Mum and tell me she received the letters and photos and flowers I've sent. If anything has happened to her health-wise they contact me and keep me updated every few days. I appreciate everything you do for my Mum. I feel you treat her as a member of your family and you also make me feel part of that family too. I can't wait to get in to see my Mum and all of you again. Hope the care home opens up soon.

Have to say my mum is so well looked after in the care home. She is always clean, tidy, well-fed and has a lovely room. We have not seen her for 3 months due to COVID-19 but they have made a Facebook page for all relatives and post pictures of all their loved ones and let us see what activities and
things they are doing. I also saw my mum from the window one day. The staff on her wing go above and beyond to do their best for all the residents.

Victoria Mitrea

Job Title: Home Manager

Victoria is a dedicated and qualified registered nurse with an SVQ 4 in Care Service Leadership & Management, as well as holding certifications in First Aid and Safeguarding Adults.


Since starting her career in the UK, Victoria has advanced from Care Assistant to Registered Nurse, where she mentored nursing students and coached newly qualified nurses, before being promoted to Deputy Home Manager.


Outside of work, Victoria finds peace and fulfilment in gardening and enjoys reading books on leadership and care strategies to remain informed and inspired. Spending time with extended family is also important for Victoria.
Victoria's biggest achievement is building a new life in the UK at 39, despite limited English, to help her daughter pursue a dream of becoming a lawyer.
