The staff know people's names and give so much care, smiling and laughing, so my friend feels at home.

My relative has been living at Knowle Gate care home for 18 months. It is a light and bright home, with accessible gardens. During this time we have found all staff (care, reception, maintenance, laundry, activity, cleaning and chefs) to be approachable, welcoming, kind and compassionate. I can highly recommend Knowle Gate Care Home.

I cannot comment on food and drink as I have not personally tried any, but free coffee and cakes for visitors in the reception area are always nice.

Mum has dementia and has been a resident for two years now. During that time her dementia has developed further and the staff have been brilliant throughout helping me and Mum adapt. The activities program is crucial to Mum, especially anything involving singing and movement, and the home puts on so many different activities each week. The backup support from the care staff, receptionists, hairdressers, chiropodist, and doctor have been excellent especially now that movement is becoming more restrictive. Mum and I love the social events that are organised for residents and visitors, a chance for everyone to meet. The home is not perfect, no because it’s not their own home but I still believe it’s the closest I can get to making her feel like it.

The only negative I can give is that sometimes when I visit him, his room can be quite untidy, but honestly, it is how they treat him that matters. P.S. Sort the coffee machine out!

The management stability in recent months has improved the situation. Also, the focus on permanent rather than agency personnel is a significant improvement. Further measures which would benefit the home would be for staff to help residents who need it at meal times.

My mother has settled extremely well and all the staff have been amazing. She is enjoying the range of activities and company provided. She looks much more relaxed compared to before she became a resident and was trying to cope at home on her own.

It is always a pleasure to visit Knowle Gate Care Home.

My father came into Knowle Gate Care Home for respite care after a spell in hospital. He is 93 and has received such wonderful care and attention from all the staff involved with him. The food there is very varied and served like in a hotel. Lovely clean rooms and different lounges to sit in make this a care home to be highly recommended.

There’s a wide range of activities planned each week ranging from singing to dominoes.

It was the best holiday rest I have ever had.

So far, our family member is being very well supported and cared for, whilst he settles in. Everything that could be done or anything that we have requested has been done, the result being that we are very comfortable knowing that our family member is being looked after to a very high degree, for which we are very grateful.

His move into care, loss of independence and latterly continence, was sudden and hard for my father. This does not always seem to be appreciated by all of the staff, who although generally efficient and caring, sometimes don't seem to appreciate his need for such normality as he can still manage; such as choosing his own clothes or moving from bed to seat to wheelchair to outside space. He seems rarely encouraged into daily activities but seems largely confined to his room. I understood that assisted bathing was available, but this seems never to have been offered - only seated showering. I understand that the doctor now says he needs the winch to move him, yet he tells me this is not happening. I know he is very hard of hearing and can seem difficult. Also that he is unused to care home culture and the range of cultures represented by the staff. I assure you that their efforts to accommodate this are appreciated by me. I also appreciate that they might be understaffed and stretched in their workload. However, I do feel more could be done to address his needs.

Since she has had her hair cut she is more like her old self.

Knowle Gate has been hugely supportive of Mum. Staff are kind and considerate and take time to chat to the residents and their relatives which makes a big difference. There are lots of well-planned activities which help keep Mum entertained and the medical support has been invaluable. I have just felt so much less stressed about Mum’s dementia and her future since she has been there, thank you!

I have found all the staff at Knowle Gate Care Home to be professional and supportive at all times during the recent decision by my much loved godfather and myself to plan the next phase of his care. From the staff member organising his admission and initial paperwork. the three ladies who always welcome me when visiting, and the team of nurses and carers. I feel confident that he is getting the best care and that I am included and consulted every step of the way. Knowle Gate has a 'family' feel and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for quality care.

Very pleased with Knowle Gate Care Home. The staff are friendly, welcoming and always willing to help. My father has been able to settle in and is enjoying the care and activities that are being provided.

I believe Knowle Gate provides all we could wish for from a care home. Above everything is the care and attention the staff give to the residents each and every day. They are a great team.
