My brother passed away at this nursing home on the 7th July this year. Care was next to none and no matter how many times I complained nothing was done. The manager never phoned back. They have lost 5 T-shirts. I was given 3 times of death. He wasn't laid out when he died. I had put in a safeguarding
issue in about medication. I can't speak to anyone higher than the so-called manager. I'm not happy my brother passed away alone. Please don't send your loved ones here, it's not what it seems to be. Looks nice on the outside, inside tables marked, floor stains, not enough staff. I just hope no one else has to go through what I have.

I am absolutely so grateful for the care and hard work the staff put into looking after my Father-in-law. Dementia is a horrid disease and very challenging. I witnessed them dealing with one of his incidents and they were amazing! We took Mum over for lunch to see him and we sat in one of the bar rooms.
It was so lovely to see them holding hands and being able to spend that time together. All his needs and ours were met and nothing is too much trouble. I can’t thank them enough knowing that he is being cared for in a clean caring environment.

Totally inadequate. I watched my nan deteriorate rapidly within her time here. The level of care is simply not there. Manager’s attitude is disgusting too. Not the cleanest of places, despite how glitz and glam it’s made out to be on social media. If your relative is able-bodied, and able-minded they’ll
love it. If your relative needs more TLC, I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. Really disappointed as at first they couldn’t do enough. However, cracks start to show. I think mostly it’s down to lack of resources but you want your loved one to be cared for, not left in their room, in their bed all day and night, neglected!

Kings Lodge is a beautiful home with exceptional care, great management and an overall safe environment. My nan lived here after being diagnosed with dementia, and she loved it! After Mum had been in hospital for two weeks, she was welcomed back with all staff greeting her, making her feel valued and a real person. All the staff are very caring in their approach to her and keep both myself and my sister informed of Mum's health. Both my sister and I were very relieved and reassured
now Mum is back in the home and with people who know her and that she is safe and well looked after.

I visited my friend who was being cared for at Kings Lodge after leaving hospital. The care home itself is stunning. The team were friendly and seemed to care for people really well. My friend was really happy there and said they enjoyed the time they spent there before they went home.

My grandma received palliative care at King's Lodge. It was a difficult time for us as a family, but we found the team at Kings Lodge, to be amazing. They were supportive and caring throughout, answering any questions that we had. They showed my grandma, care and compassion, when it mattered most. There
really is a sense of family within the home, that leaves you feeling like your family are being cared for, as you would at home. Although my grandma wasn't there very long, she could not have asked for her last few days to be any more comfortable. As a family, it was a relief to know that when we weren't there, she was not alone and she was surrounded by people who genuinely cared. Special thanks to the nursing team there, especially one staff member in particular, who is not only professional, but kind and compassionate. She has an aura about her that cannot be taught. We are truly grateful to her and her team for everything they did for us during my grandmother's stay.

I have been caring for my wife since 2014 when she was first diagnosed with dementia. I viewed our home as a care home in which she was the resident and myself the care home manager. Past experience (sometimes painful) of finding care homes for my mother and parents-in-law had led me to set standards
of care on five levels - feeling at home: Personal Care: Mental Stimulation: Medical Care and Support Management (hotel).
Having spent 4 months looking at care homes; the majority professed to meet her needs, however, on closer questioning they fell short of my criteria - that is until I visited Kings Lodge. Their philosophy and practices met all criteria and I had no hesitation in asking them to care for my wife. As with all new experiences, there were teething problems that were resolved and now, after 7 months, I am delighted with the care and respect my wife receives in the Falcon Suite. The professionalism of the team allows me to sleep peacefully at nights. Thank you.

I lived here for two and a half years. The general staff were great. Most of the carers in Kestrel were great especially one unit leader. The food was good, perhaps not to my taste. The assistant managers were great apart from the first one. What lets this place down is the main managers. The present-day
manager, ask her anything and she will hold her hands and say I do not know. The night manager, when I was there had not been there long but she was useless. For a few years, Kings Lodge could only get a few people to stay but a resident liaison advisor, to her dues changed all that.

My father has Alzheimer’s and was a resident at Kings Lodge for nearly 2 years and left recently to join another care home. Whilst we were originally impressed by the decor and setting of Kings Lodge and the promise of high-quality dementia care, it quickly became clear the quality of care is very poor.
My father has been frequently and unnecessarily distressed and upset by the lack of support and help. The majority of staff have demonstrated very little knowledge or understanding of Dad’s dementia and certainly don’t appear equipped with the tools to keep him calm, safe and happy. Even basic care such as washing and personal care doesn’t appear to be consistently provided. Dad has now moved to another care home and the difference in care and his happiness is quite frankly, remarkable. I would not recommend Kings Lodge to anyone with even basic care requirements.

My Mum spent the last 3 days of her life at Kings Lodge. We wish it would have been longer! We truly believe that she was finally able to rest thanks to the wonderful care she received. Mum had been in hospital for several weeks and held out until she was settled and comfortable at Kings Lodge. My
brother was able to visit her on the morning she died, thanks to the kind offer made by the Deputy Manager. She finally thought, after a huge fight with terminal cancer, that she was happy to go. We will be forever grateful to the team at Kings Lodge, particularly the staff member who was at her side. Kings Lodge offers such a high level of care provided by an amazing team of staff, in such beautiful and peaceful surroundings.

Dad tested positive for COVID and spent a few weeks in the hospital; luckily, he had recovered, however, it left him in bed and not able to mobilise. Dad becomes depressed, and there was not much he wanted to do. We moved Dad to Kings Lodge for 4 months where he had the best care possible, Dad has not
only recovered his abilities to walk but has made so many friends that made him so happy and gave him a new lease of life. We cannot be more satisfied with his care and the dedication everyone has given to Dad.

I have worked in the care field since 2014 and genuinely enjoy it.. I love engaging with the residents and their families and making people smile with my jokes!

What do I love about my role? That feeling of knowing that no matter how large or small, you’ve made someone’s day. Both of my roles are varied which I enjoy. I love the administrative areas and client liaison with relatives, however I just adore spending time doing activities. I enjoy being creative and implementing activities that take the residents back to a personal memory. Shop! It gives me great please in just making someone happy and laughing.


Favourite Activity – I’m clearly a repressed Barber! I created this activity and love to “dress the scene” and set the mood. “The Blind Barber” was so popular that the gentleman want it to feature every week. I enjoy it so much and feel I missed my vocation in life!


I also get great pleasure in taking the residents for a walk or push to see my horses. They often come to visit here too.


I’m a qualified Art Restored & Art Consultant and ran my own business for 5 Years and managed a Gallery for 15 years.


Keen Equestrian & have two horses who are located next door so I love to take the residents to visit them. Being outside and keeping active is an absolute passion with rugby and golf leading as some of my favourite sports!
