After much thought and having looked at several other care homes, my mum went to live at Maple Court, as we felt it was by far the best. As Mum was leaving her home of 62 years we were concerned as to how or if she would settle in. Within days it became clear that the care, compassion and professionalism
of the team at Maple Court meant she soon settled in. After a few weeks, it was clear that Mum was brighter, more content and relaxed and had settled into her new environment. She was mentally and physically improved, making new friends and interacting with members of the team and other residents. Clearly, anyone who is nearly 95 will have health issues, when these have arisen the manager and her senior team have kept us fully informed, when they felt some changes were needed we met via Teams (due to Covid) and discussed in detail and agreed the best way forward. At Maple Court, they use their expertise in a collegiate approach to ensure the best for the residents and their families.

Acknowledged as soon as arrived by a senior carer. Mother brought down promptly from upstairs for a visit in room downstairs. Mother collected again after 20 minutes and taken back upstairs for a cup of tea. Her needs are being looked after. Staff friendly and helpful.

My mother has been extremely ill, coming out of the hospital in April and not expected to survive longer than two weeks. The nurses and carers have been wonderful, caring for her as if she were their own mother. I have been able to sit outside her patio door to chat and read to my mother at a safe distance.
Her appetite has returned, she's eating very well and has even gained weight! Her doctor is amazed! Knowing that my mother is being so well cared for is a huge comfort to me. The administrator has also been extremely kind.

My father has been in Maple Court for some months now. The staff are always helpful and make the residents comfortable. The nursing care, in my opinion, is good. The food, however, could be better as the choice of food for tea time is limited, soup and sandwiches or burgers, hot dogs, cheese pasties,
beans on toast, which I would consider suitable or nutritious. However, if this food is appealing to some residents then they would be OK here. The internet connection is poor if you require it for TV or devices.

I have been in many care homes in Scarborough which I have found substandard in every way which is why I was relieved to have discovered Maple Court. My mother only resident there for a few weeks over September and October 2018. Although not perfect it became very obvious that Maple Court was totally
committed to getting everything right by investing in their staff training and getting the management working better for all. I always found them approachable and eager to rectify any arising problems and focused on getting the detail right. I would not hesitate in recommending Maple Court to anyone as it is striving to become an excellent nursing home.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.456) out of 10 for Maple Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.456 for Maple Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (187 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (18 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 261 Ratings = 4.456
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Maple Court Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
