My Dad went in to Mearns House on 8 June 2026. From the initial telephone call with Marianne to meeting Kirsty at the hospital prior to his discharge, they have been fantastic. The care, patience and kindness shown by every single person there, has made what could have been a difficult time, so much easier for my Dad and our family. A very special mention to Mandy C - I have never met anyone who has given so much to her job - she is a wonderful human being - few people like her.

Whilst the rooms and general decor are excellent the staff are what makes Mearns House special.
Nothing was too much trouble the chefs accomodated Mum's special diet, her laundry was perfect and her room was spotlessly cleaned daily. The care given by the carers and nursing team was exceptional.

I would highly reccomend Mearns House.

My husband Gordon says the overall experience was very positive. The staff and carers were pleasant, friendly, encouraging, and helpful. The activities were enthusiastically promoted and fun. Enjoyable being taken into the garden in his wheelchair. Mealtimes were varied because of his puried diet and the conduct of various patients distrubing. Overall he enjoyed his time in Mearns House.

Urgently needed some respite care for mum. From initial visit and chat to home assessment report, Mearns Home have been nothing but professional, friendly, helpful, attentive and most importantly caring.
During stay mum took unwell and was taken to hospital for a short time , as I was out of the country Mearns Home made sure that I was updated on a regular basis which greatly helped my peace of mind. Upon my return we requested an extension to the respite stay, as we knew mum would be well looked after giving us peace of mind, once again our request was dealt with very easily and quickly.
The home itself is very clean nicely decorated with beautiful surroundings which in the summer will I assume be well used, lots to do to keep residents interested and involved. The only downside from mum seemed to be the food, either not too her taste or portion too small, but that may have been more of a personal issue

We would have no hesitation in using or recommending Mearns House

Mum has been in Mearns House for around 6 weeks. It came highly recommended, and it certainly has lived up to our expectations so far. The staff are caring and attentive, the Accommodation is excellent, and very well maintained and Mum talks highly of the food. I looked at lots of care homes in Glasgow for my mum before choosing Mearns House. What impressed me most was the sense of a calm, inviting space with lots of natural light. The carers I met all seemed friendly, calm and engaged. And that impression persists, now that my mum has been here for about a month now. When it was her birthday they went to a big effort to decorate a dining room with banners and balloons, providing a cake, food and music. My mum was really touched by the effort and attention. I feel like my mum is being looked out for and care is being given that she is not just looked after physically, but that her whole experience there is carefully considered. I feel like my mum has already made friends with some of the residents and carers and it's a nice space to visit her - there are different areas we can sit in and get coffee if we want to. I highly recommend it here.

Excellent staff both medical (nurses) and carers. Management are available and receptive. Food could be better, more age appropriate, residents of this generation need simple food cooked well not Chinese or the like. More meat, fish, ham etc- it would appear the cooks budget is too small! More attention after 8pm would be appreciated.

My initial feeling on entering the care home to enquire about respite was a very warm and welcoming Care Home. This has only been confirmed by the wonderful nursing and care staff who have looked after my husband during his respite stay. Mearns House is a bright, welcoming and comfortable home, with attractive garden space and a broad range of activities and events. We felt my mum was very well looked after during her recent respite stay. Right from arrival through to the goodbyes staff were attentive, kind and patient. We were reassured she was safe, had the opportunity to join in activities and had company all in beautiful surroundings.

My Dad went for a couple of weeks respite care and when I collected him had very much enjoyed his time at Mearns House. The staff were friendly and interacted well with the residents and accommodated my Dad's interests and hobbies. The only downside was construction work that I presume is finished now that stopped full access to the garden He is now looking forward to his next visit which is very comforting to me.
