Moore Place has been an excellent choice for my mother's care over the last two years. The professionalism and compassion of the staff has been of the highest standards and has made what could have been a difficult transition into residential care pleasant and straight forward.
From the start of the recent Covid-19 pandemic, I cannot praise the staff highly enough as they go above and beyond expectations for their residents, many of whom on the dementia floor require almost constant support.

Inspiring. My thanks to them all.

My mother has been a resident for 5+ years and I cannot express the gratitude felt by her entire family for the comfort and care she has been given during these difficult times. One carer in particular has gone, in my opinion, above and beyond. She has facilitated online video calls over 3 continents and has sent us pictures of Mum walking in the car park area - this is more than any of us have managed to get her to do in over a year, for this level of caring I have no words, gratitude does not seem to cover it adequately.

My mother has been in Moore Place now for two years and is very happy. She has been well looked after and the staff are very caring and understanding and I feel they have got to know her. The management has improved more recently and the staff seem happy. They have coped really well over this difficult period during the Coronavirus. Residents are able to stay in contact via Skype and I have been updated frequently. I am grateful for all they have done.

My Mum (who suffers from dementia) has been a resident at Moore Place for four years and is very happy living there. The staff are exceptionally caring and she thinks very highly of them. Her room is modern, comfortable and overlooks the golf course where she used to play. The food is very good and varied. The activities programme is improving and hopefully will continue to do so in due course. I am very happy with the new Manager who has definitely made improvements, and the Assistant Manager who has been there from the beginning - a very good leadership team now. At the time of writing, I have been unable to visit my Mum for several weeks now which has been very hard, due to Covid-19. I cannot express highly enough what a comfort it is to know she is in such safe, caring hands at this time. I can see when I speak to her on Skype that she is well cared for and content, so am very grateful she is being looked after so well by the carers who are going above and beyond!

Both my parents moved into Moore Place in December 2018. My mother was rehabilitating after hip replacement and my father has dementia and has lost mobility. Without exception, the carers are kind, friendly, patient and sensitive to my parents differing needs. The rooms are comfortable, clean, beautiful and very well equipped for all mobility requirements. The food is appetising and varied. The management team are extremely accommodating and supportive and I feel very confident in the care my parents are receiving at Moore Place.

I enjoyed my stay very much. The room was good (although one of the smaller ones) but found the two chairs extremely heavy and hard to move about. The food was generally excellent although quality and choice deteriorated during my stay - more foreign food than a clientele of mainly elderly English people may have found a bit wearing.

Anchor staff were all kind and helpful, but some of the agency staff were not and this proved very upsetting. Nevertheless, I would not expect to find anywhere I would prefer.

I have only lived here for a few weeks and already I feel "lonely" with no-one to talk to. Meal times are boring as there is mostly no talking from across the table - helped only by the carers trying to get a verbal response.

Equipment is mostly poor - especially in the bathroom but the bed is "generous" in size as well as the type of bedding.

"Private" outdoor space is small and inadequate - not kept in a tidy condition.

Reply from Hannah Markland, Home Manager at Moore Place

From initial contact through to a fortnight's respite for my husband, we were both treated with the utmost courtesy and kindness. My husband was very well looked after which gave me peace of mind. Good quality, loving care is the first essential. Environment and immediate surroundings are important too and the home was so beautifully designed and kept. The manager was so reassuring and caring as were all staff. We would not hesitate to use Moore Place in the future and will certainly recommend it. Thank you so much everyone.

This home is a friendly care home. I was made to feel welcome as soon as I arrived.
They have had a lot of problems with the kitchen staff.
The food at one stage was awful but is gradually improving although still leaves much room for improvement.
They run out of many things, cheese, yoghurts, brown bread, marmalade, even vanilla ice cream to name a few.
We have had many managers recently, none for the better. Very unsettling.

After a fall in the bathroom, I was left calling for help for at least 10 minutes on the floor. What can be done?

We visited Moore Place with my mother and were made to feel welcome. Everyone was very friendly. The Customer Relations Manager gave my mother a tour and was very keen to hear mum's opinion. I liked this as it showed that Mum was the priority.

Excellent facilities and décor: spa bath, hairdressing salon, beautiful lounges and balconies to sit out in. The bedrooms are large, comfortable, great views, plenty of space for clothes, personal knick-knacks, pictures, etc.

Lots of varied activities for all the residents – days out, exercise, films, etc. The food is superb, with a good selection of options to choose from. The opportunity to have a glass of wine with lunch or supper is lovely.

The staff are all friendly, helpful, endlessly patient. They are always happy to answer any questions. You can see from the reactions of the other residents how much they like them. My mum is absolutely delighted to be there, she's happy and made so many friends. All the residents are treated with respect and dignity.

Staff very friendly and helpful, most enjoy a joke and reciprocate. The only fault is sometimes service is slow, there appears to be no one in charge.

However, I don't think more staff is the answer.

Claire Tinson
Claire TinsonJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2025

Hi, I'm Claire Tinson, the Deputy Manager at Moore Place care home in Esher.

My journey in care began 25 years ago when I started as a care assistant in a small independent care home in Esher. After taking a short career break to raise my family, I joined the NHS, where I spent many years working in both clinical and administrative roles. Although I valued my time in the NHS, I soon realised how much I missed the continuity of care and the deep relationships that come from working in a care home setting.

In December 2017, I returned to that environment by joining Moore Place as a bank Care Assistant, and I loved every minute of it. By September 2018, I made the decision to leave the NHS and became a full-time Team Leader at Moore Place, managing the ground floor alongside Chelsea. I spent four incredibly fulfilling years here, and the residents and staff quickly became my second family. This sense of unity and dedication was never more evident than during the COVID-19 pandemic, when—despite the fear and uncertainty—we pulled together as a team and gave everything we had. One of our proudest accomplishments was navigating that time without the need for any agency staff.

I left Moore Place to broaden my management experience and, for the past two and a half years, have been leading a reception team at a world-renowned veterinary practice. While the role brought valuable experience and new challenges, my heart always remained with Moore Place.

When I saw the Deputy Manager position advertised, I knew immediately that I had to apply. I’m absolutely thrilled to return, and I look forward to getting to know all the residents and families, and to supporting them in living happy, fulfilled lives.

Richard Mansfield
Richard MansfieldJob Title:Moore Place Home ManagerJoined: 2020

I joined Anchor over five years ago, moving into care from a career in hospitality during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a temporary role quickly became a real passion—I remember finishing one of my first shifts and realising I’d found something I genuinely loved. From there, I progressed from Care Assistant to Team Leader, then Deputy Manager, and now Home Manager at Moore Place.

I’m proud of my experience in building strong, consistent teams and improving the quality of care, including successfully reducing reliance on agency staff to zero for a sustained period in my previous home, helping to improve continuity and outcomes for residents.

Creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents, families and colleagues feel valued and supported is really important to me. My leadership style is friendly, approachable and hands-on—I believe in being visible, leading by example, and encouraging open communication.

You’ll often see me around the home with my Jack Russell, Cathy, who loves being part of daily life and brings plenty of smiles to residents and the team.

I’m committed to ensuring Moore Place is a place where people feel safe, happy and truly at home.
