Portsdown View Care Home came highly recommended to me for a period of respite care following major surgery. The experience was entirely new and can only be described as a relaxed, friendly hotel. Every facility is provided, from hairdressing, barbers, and beauty salon. Various dining rooms, a bistro and a lovely room for entertaining family and friends. Everywhere tastefully decorated, encouraging people to mix. The staff were friendly and caring, but like everywhere also found themselves overworked at times. My experience gave me all I needed, peace, time to read and sleep. Would highly recommend.
Thank you so much for your kind words and recommendation. Were delighted you felt comfortable and well cared for during your stay."
My life long friend spent the last days of her life being cared for with the upmost respect, compassion and professionalism from all the staff she encountered. Daily I witnessed the kindness, affection and support she received from a total team, regardless of appointed roles. Connaught management can be justly proud of their staff who will always go beyond the letter of their contracts. The final journey my friend took was in peace, pain free and total comfort, in a tranquil environment, for which I will always be eternally grateful.
Thank you for taking time to review our service .It means a great deal to our team to know that we were able to provide comfort and dignity during such an important time. We're truly honoured to have been part of your friend's final journey.
We were visiting a friend and had a lovely tea and tour around the home. The facilities are more like a first class hotel. Very impressive and everyone was very friendly and helpful.
We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit and had such a positive experience. It was a pleasure having you, and we're happy the facilities and our team made a lasting impression. You're always welcome back hope to see you again soon.
I absolutely enjoyed my stay. All the staff are fantastic all very attentive. Beautiful food, excellent facilities. Definitely recommend to anyone. Looking forward to returning in the summer.
We're so pleased to hear you had a great stay and that our team made a positive impression. Its great to know you enjoyed the food and facilities. We truly appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back this summer!
My wife has just spent 2 weeks respite care at Portsdown View, and this is the second time we have used the respite facilities. My wife looks forward to this and it enables me as her full time carer to go on holiday with my family. We know she is being well looked after whilst in the home and my family and I can rest assured she is in good hands. All the staff are welcoming and very helpful for my wife's needs. We are so happy with the service we will be encouraging another visit for her in August.
It's great to hear that your wife has enjoyed her stays with us and that respite care at Portsdown View has supported you in spending quality time with your family. Knowing that you feel confident in the care she receives means a lot to our team. We look forward to welcoming her again and continuing to provide the support she needs
My mother stayed in Portsdown View for four weeks for respite care after breaking her arm. We found the care home by chance whilst searching for homes on the internet, and we're very glad we did. The care given to mum was first-class. We can't fault it in any way - all the staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The facilities at the home are amazing and the whole atmosphere of the place is more that of a hotel than a care home. The room was spacious and comfortable - mum said she'd never slept in such a comfortable bed - with a nice outlook over a small garden. Mum didn't socialise much although we tried to persuade her to, but had she wanted to then all the facilities were there for mixing with other residents. We're grateful to everyone for the care they gave and wouldn't hesitate to use Portsdown View again in the future if the need arose.
Thank you for your feedback .We're delighted to hear that your mother felt comfortable and well cared for during her stay at Portsdown View. It means a great deal to our team to know their efforts made a positive difference. We're glad the Portsdown View met your expectations, and we truly...
I had major abdominal surgery at the end of March and was in hospital for a week. I had investigated places for a week's convalescent care afterwards and Portsdown View was only a 10 minute drive from where my daughter lives. I went to see the place before my operation and was so impressed that I booked a weeks stay after leaving hospital.
When I stayed at Portsdown View I could not fault the staff, accommodation, managers and food provided in the restaurant. The staff were amazing and look after the residents with compassion and nothing is ever too much.
The residents who are there permanently have a lovely environment, are well looked after and are entertained with activities.
I would definitely recommend Portsdown View for a short or long stay.
Thank you so much for your positive review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, and we would be happy to welcome you back in the future!
My family had a long haul holiday and was looking for respite for caring for elderly mother. I chose Portsdown view as previously visited and mother's sister is in full term care. My initial contact with the care home was very positive, excellent communications. A week prior to her arriving we had an assessment review which was detailed and made me fill happy leaving my mother in their care. The accommodation, staff and managers were excellent and she received outstanding care and they provided constant activities to keep her engaged and made sure she felt as she was on holiday. The food standards were excellent, beautiful maintained facilities. I will certainly recommend and will use again. I can't thank the team enough for all they did and in such a positive manner.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It was a pleasure caring for your mother, and we're so glad she felt at home with us. We truly appreciate your trust and look forward to welcoming you again in the future!.
My parents came in on respite after my mothers operation. Sadly they didn't mix much but I can't fault the staff. Care was carried out in full but any extra help was hit and miss when it came to exercises and physio. With regard to management, I can only thank the staff member in the bistro and another in the office. Without their help and understanding I don't know what would have happened. Two incredible people!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We're truly sorry to hear that your parents didnt feel able to mix much during their stay, and we understand how important that social connection can be especially during recovery. We also take on board your comments regarding the...
This is my first experience of Portsdown Views. My mum is in her first week of respite care there. The management of the whole experience has been brilliant. From the initial phone call I have felt reassured that my mum would be well looked after. The management have given excellent support, which has been echoed by the whole staff. Everyone so welcoming and nurturing.

Friendly caring staff. Very attentive. Five star facilities. Recommend to all.
Thank you for taking time to review our service . We're thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience within our home . Your recommendation means a lot to us .
My mum has spent 2 weeks here in respite care. I have seen more staff than residents and they are all very welcoming, friendly and caring. It is lovely and clean. Residents are well looked after. We had an 85th party for my mum, food was lovely and they made her a birthday cake and bought her flowers which she loved, she has dementia so couldn't remember any of it. The family appreciated all the effort from the staff. So far everything has been positive.
Thank you ever so much for such a lovely and kind review of Portsdown View. It has been our pleasure to care for your Mum, and I am so glad that you have had a very positive experience with us. Your kind words mean so much and I will share with the whole team.
Portsdown View were incredible when my grandma needed respite care urgently. They went above and beyond to help her feel comfortable and made our whole family feel welcome. You are always greeted with a genuine smile. The food is excellent (especially the daily cakes) and there is a massive variety of activities on offer. I felt confident that my grandma was safe and they acted quickly when she needed to go to hospital. We will definitely be returning to Portsdown View for any future care needs.
Thank you so much for this wonderful review! Our team are very passionate about giving the very best of care to the residents here at Portsdown View and we hope that reviews such as this will give other families the confidence to seek care for their loved ones when they are in need.
Well where to start. Not sure if the care home messed up or the hospital but my grandad was dumped off at 8:30am to which no one was accepting responsibility. To my mum's shock she found a picture of my grandad on a social media site (may I add nothing had been signed to say this was allowed), which caused a great upset to the whole family and he would be horrified if he knew. We were told we would be getting apology email - we are still waiting. Data Protection Breech:- I confronted management about the phone calls I was receiving about my grandad as I believed the first point of contact should have been my mum, to which I was told because I'm not POA I shouldn't have been contacted by law and they kept saying they didn't have my number. Very strange. The attention he got from the carers was good and they were the ones who asked how he was when he was admitted to hospital. From management we received no courtesy phone call nothing. The list could go on. Don't waste your hard earned money.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I'm truly sorry to hear about your concerns and appreciate how important these issues are to you and your family. As you will understand we are unfortunately unable to discuss resident-specific details publicly, but we have reached out to you...
We are non-residents who have been warmly welcomed into Portsdown View. We visit a resident and have very kindly been invited by the events manager to accompany our friend and to participate in a number of different activities within the home, which has been a delight. A member of my family has dementia, who we care for, and accompanies me on our visits so it is lovely that she can join in too. We have been greeted by the manager and kindly shown round the home by the events manager, the facilities are first-class. All staff have been friendly, from the receptionist at arrival to all the carers that we have met, they recognise us and will stop and say hello. The environment is calm, spacious, homely and everything is so well-organised, we appreciate the staff's efforts and attentiveness. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea today, our compliments go to the homes wonderful chef, thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this lovely review. Our team are very passionate about making everyone fell welcome at Portsdown View. We hope that reviews such as this will give other families the confidence to seek care for their loved ones when they are in need.
Both of my parents went into Portsdown View in August 2024 after living with me for 18 months and it was the best decision we could have made. The home is lovely, it is always clean and tidy and the surroundings are inviting and relaxing. The food is always excellent and being able to have lunch in the Bistro with Mum feels like our weekly treat. There is always something going on like gentle exercise, trips out, quizzes and crafting. The staff are just lovely and always make us feel welcome when we visit. They genuinely care about the residents and their families and this was demonstrated when my Dad passed away in November and the time leading up to his passing. They could not have been kinder and I feel safe in the knowledge that Mum isn't alone as she has this community supporting her.
Thank you for your kind words in this wonderful review of Portsdown View Care Home. We are very proud of the care and commitment our teams show towards our residents and their families, and your feedback is highly valued across our company.
The garden centre has incorporated a Christmas exhibition into its display arrangements. It provides a unique exhibition of high quality and related to Christmas. The visit included a refreshment stop for coffee and cake. Transport to the garden centre and return was provided. A particular staff member from the care home ensured a well-organised trip to this unique venue.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback about the garden centre outing on the 20th November. We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the Christmas exhibition and the refreshments - it sounds like it was a truly festive experience! We are also grateful for your kind words about our events team. We...
Mum's last few weeks before she passed away were handled with care, dignity, compassion, and understanding by all the staff. They were amazing in helping with this sad time. One of the girls stayed all night with Mum to give the family a break. They made Mum's passing a lot easier to deal with in every way—liaising with the funeral company, getting Mum ready, etc. A true and incredible team who have the families grateful thanks for all they did. From the start 15 months ago to the end. The whole experience has been one of care, commitment, dedication, above and beyond, respect, and understanding. A truly fantastic team, who even attended the funeral. Well done and thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are truly honoured to have been able to support your mum and your family during such a difficult time. Our team is dedicated to providing care with compassion and respect, and it means the world to us that we were able to make this experience a little...
I know my sister had mood swings and can be difficult. I feel completely confident in the quality of care she is receiving.
Thank you for your wonderful review, we are very delighted to be looking after your sister and to read that she is thriving at Portsdown View. We look forward to seeing you during our festive events soon.
Food was very good and plenty of activities if wanted.
It was a pleasure to have you as one of our valued residents and do hope you return to us for another respite stay when you are ready. Have a wonderful Christmas and do pop in and enjoy a cup of tea with our staff when you are able.

Pippa's journey in the health and social care sector began at the age of 18 when she commenced her Registered Nurse training at United Bulawayo Hospitals in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. In 2002, she transitioned to the UK, where she furthered her career in Leadership and Management, bringing with her a wealth of experience and unwavering dedication. Pippa’s skill set as a Registered Nurse will undoubtedly help to further support some of our residents.
Pippa is deeply committed to ensuring the highest quality of life for each resident she cares for. She aims to create an environment that genuinely feels like home, extending her passion for person-centred care not only to the residents but also to their families.

I have developed extensive experience in my role as a Deputy Manager, where I have been responsible for supporting the overall day-to-day running of the service while ensuring the highest standards of care are consistently delivered.

My responsibilities have included handling inbound and outbound calls, coordinating assessments, managing follow-ups, as I take pride in building trust, actively listening to individual circumstances, and providing clear, supportive guidance on care options

I have worked in the care sector for the past ten years, having previously worked in or been involved in the construction industry. I have been working for Connaught Care since May 2023 and I am enjoying the challenges and comradery that working with a new highly motivated & dedicated team brings.

I have had over 2 years of experience in the hospitality industry. From working in Hotel Hospitality to the care sector.

I love making residents look good, also making them feel totally relaxed and pampered at all times.
