Outstanding Care at The Chase - Highly Recommended
My mum is currently staying at The Chase for temporary respite care, and I can honestly say that the staff are absolutely amazing. Nothing is ever too much trouble - they go above and beyond to help with anything you need. The care is truly first-class.
Following
an unexpected trip to A&E before her admission, we were naturally worried, but the staff were second to none. Their compassion and professionalism were outstanding - not just in the way they cared for my mum, but in how they supported us as a family too.
I can't thank them enough for the exceptional level of care and kindness. I would 100% recommend The Chase to anyone.

We were apprehensive and had lots of worries about placing mum into respite care, however, we can't thank you enough for the patience, kindness, warmth and support that the whole Willowbrook team showed mum (and us). This was always going to be an emotional time for us but we cannot praise you enough
for making it an easier transition. We feel so lucky to have found you! Never heard of or have seen a care home as wonderful as this. Thank you!

Meadowbrook Care Home

from G T (Respite Resident) published on 18 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

All aspects and all areas of the residential home work for me and have been successfully well designed for its residents generally. The bedrooms, including ensuite shower/toilet, are comfortable and satisfactorily furnished for residents, in which beds are made and rooms cleaned on a daily basis. There
are also well-equipped bathrooms available for those that might need them. Breakfast and lunches are very good indeed and lunches offer different menu choices each day. Supper is early and has a more limited menu choice with a degree of repetition. An activities programme is published each week, which contains a variety of interesting choices for residents.

Reply from Laura Adams, General Manager at Meadowbrook Care Home

Thank you for your thoughtful and comprehensive feedback. We're very pleased to hear that all aspects of the residential home are working well for you and that the design meets the needs of our residents. It's especially encouraging to know that the bedrooms, ensuite facilities, and daily housekeeping are contributing positively to your comfort.

Meadowbrook Care Home

from Julia R (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 July 2025

Our family are deeply grateful to the Meadowbrook team for the exceptional care they gave to Dad in the last months of his life and for the compassion they extended to our family. Dad lived with Lewy Body dementia and multiple co-morbidities and he lived in care for several years. We moved him to Meadowbrook
because we were more confident they could meet his needs. Dad settled in very quickly because of the personalised, warm and experienced care provided. Over the next few months, the staff took Dad to their hearts and Meadowbrook was a delightful environment in which to visit him. It was difficult to take Dad out, and so eating with him in the Bistro created important memories. The food is excellent! Sadly, Dad passed away two weeks ago. The whole team leaned in to care for him and us and - with excellent co-ordination with the GP and district nurses - we worked together to ensure that Dad had a 'good death'. We genuinely felt part of a caring family. And will always be thankful.

Reply from Laura Adams, General Manager at Meadowbrook Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. We are truly sorry for your loss. Dad was a true gentleman. It was an honour and a privilege to care for your father. We're grateful to have been a part of his journey and are touched to know that our team could provide comfort and support to him and you when it mattered most.

My father was moved from another care home in the area as the care and food was not up to standard. Since being at the Chase care home, my father has become a lot more active and his dementia has stabilised.
When visiting my dad, I am always offered lunch as I Make a two hour journey to see him and
have an occasion stayed for lunch which has always been exceptional. The care That my father has been given.is excellent ..
Thank you to all the staff for taking such good care of our precious Dad.

We moved out Dad into Meadowbrook in February and from the outset the team embraced Dad's incredibly complicated medical health & advanced dementia. Having been in a care for years were were both surprised and delighted that after one very unsettled night, he was calm, slept well and had no more of
the aggressive outbursts, we'd experienced before. The care plan was exceptional and focused on physical, mental and social health, they did everything they could to ensure his overall wellness. The team made our whole family welcome, they showed kindness and care throughout our time with them and no more so in the last few days of Dad's life. They surrounded us all with love and support and made just being with him in those last few days, relaxed and comfortable. Carers came to spend their breaks with Dad, to talk to him and reassure him. They all spoke in such kind terms, they had really taken Dad to the hearts. Their end of life care was exceptional, we couldn't have hoped for more.

Reply from Laura Adams, General Manager at Meadowbrook Care Home

Thank you so much for this beautiful review, for sharing your experience and for your kind words about Meadowbrook. We are deeply moved to hear how your dad and your entire family were embraced and supported during such a significant and emotional time. We are especially grateful that you felt surrounded by love and kindness in his final days. Those moments matter deeply, and knowing that our carers were able to bring reassurance and warmth to both your dad and your family brings us great comfort. It was a privilege to care for him, and he clearly touched many hearts.

Most noticeable was how the caring staff took a genuine interest in our friend and were keen to kind out about her likes and dislikes to build up a picture of her life before dementia set in. Also by collection our friend from her room and bringing her to the lounge was a particularly thoughtful way
of giving her the option of receiving visitors, or not, if it was a 'bad' day for her. Unable to complete all boxes as our visit was fairly brief although overall impression that accommodation was of a high standard and staff very professional.

It is really lovely to hear your thoughts on your friends recent move into residential care and that the wonderful staff at Meadowbrook made it such a positive one. Moving into residential care can be a challenging and emotional experience and by getting to know as much we can about each person and their earlier lives, means we can help support their move and make it a more positive experience.

We had to make the decision to seek a care home for my elderly mother in law. I started my search using CQC website. From our initial contact to moving in. I continue to be impressed with the professional and caring way we have treated. The whole process has been smooth and communication has been
open and regular. I am grateful for the help and personal service that we have received from Portsdown view.
The rooms are beautifully furnished, the entrance is fresh and welcoming. Staff stop to say hello, residents all present as being well respected and listened to. The choice of activities and the menu options are outstanding.
The process of placing a loved one into residential care is stressful and heart wrenching, however with the support and kindness of Portsdown view I am confident that my family member will thrive and as a family we will be reassured that they are safe, happy and cared for.

from Jon W (Son of Resident) published on 16 June 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My father initially came into Henbrook in April & is now a permanent resident, when he arrived he was in a poor state both physically (constant falls) and mentally and as a family we were really concerned about him.
After a little time to settle in, he has now thrived in the Henbrook culture and when
I now visit looks the best I have seen in a long time.
As stated in previous reviews when you walk into Henbrook it does not feel like you are coming into a care home more a 5 star all inclusive hotel.
Dad has to take lots of tablets for his Parkinsons (17 a day) but this does not phase the staff who prescribe in a super efficient manner.
The food is excellent ( I don't think Dad has left a crumb in food ever!!) varied & portion sizes just right.
The entertainment team do a great job coming up with trips and activities with the schedule changing weekly and has things included for everyone.
However, the biggest factor is all the staff who are amazing, so kind and caring to him.

My Dad had terminal cancer when admitted to The Chase as he needed 24 hour care. From the first day we knew we had made the right choice. Every member of staff were caring and compassionate - we were kept informed every step of the way. You not only showed amazing care for my dad but also looked after
the whole family - everyone was made welcome. Although my dad wasn't able to participate in the activities, we especially enjoyed our Easter- making it special for my 20 month old grandaughter.
In the final hours I was even given access to a room next-door to dad, so I could be with him. No words can express how grateful I am.
