I recently spent a few days at Waterhaven Place in Chichester to convalesce following an operation. My Mum has just spent 3 weeks in respite care at Waterhaven Place. She absolutely loved her time there and in fact felt it was more like being on holiday than in a Care Home. All of the staff are so warm, caring and friendly from the moment you arrive.
The range of activities were a great advantage
for Mum who loves social interaction and keeping busy. It was Mum's birthday while she was there and the fuss they made with a special cake and music performance especially for her was just wonderful.
The food was fantastic with an excellent choice offered at every meal- as visitors we also enjoyed various food and drink options with Mum.
The whole ethos of the Home is excellent encouraging family and friends to visit as 'guests' of the resident which is so important so that they feel in some control rather than losing their independence completely.
Mum will definitely return for respite in the near future.
Reply from Cheryl Tyson, Customer Relations Manager at Waterhaven PlaceThank you so much for your lovely feedback. Were delighted your mum enjoyed her stay and that her birthday celebrations made it extra special. Its wonderful to hear you all felt so welcome and enjoyed the food and activities. My mum first moved in to Waterhaven place in November 25 with mixed dementia. She was made to feel very relaxed and welcome and safe straight away and settled in really quickly. She is always telling me how lovely the staff are and that they cant do enough for me. We are thrilled with the care she is
given, there is a full array of activities that she really enjoys. She now has a better social life than we do, going on fantastic trips and having her hair and nails done in the salon in Waterhaven every week. We go every other day to visit her and it is always spotlessly clean, the staff are so welcoming and friendly and my mum absolutely adores the staff as we do. The difference in my mum is incredible since she has moved in with the care given. Her paranoia has completely gone as she feels so relaxed and happy and safe there. As a family member of a resident, I cant emphasise enough how much of a relief it is to know how safe, happy and loved she is at Waterhaven. Highly recommend.

If I ever had to recommend a care home to anyone it will definitely always be waterhaven place

Portsdown View has created a safe and nurturing environment for my father since June. I have felt listened to by staff and they have acted on any concerns including medication or diet. The house staff keep the care home clean and tidy. The care staff show they know Dad well and support him well with
personal hygiene and interaction. There has been a blip with no one heading events recently but a new lady started yesterday.

From the moment we stepped into the home, we felt that we were in a comfortable environment where the residents are treated as an individual. Each room is designed differently. The food for residents and visitors is excellent. The hospitality from the team is truly exceptional. There is choice with
everything from decor to food to entertainment. The resident is truly independent and they are able to show hospitality with family and friends. The wine!! Delicious. Helathy choice in food. All the managers are kind and very approachable. Thank you for everything. Well done! PS Difficult to get in at times, problem with doors.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
From the very first call, to book a visit, to then viewing the Chase, we knew it was the best place for my mother in law.
It has such a homely atmosphere and every member of staff we have interacted with are absolutely professional, kind and supportive.
It has been 3 weeks since my mother in law
moved in and she has clearly felt very comfortable and settled. The food is delicious and they have really thought about the way the choices are given to the dementia residents. Instead of a list of choices, the meals are plated for them to see what they want. How brilliant is that. The rooms are so lovely and all the clothes have their labelling tags put on at arrival. The staff really know their residents and want the best for them and it really shows.
It was a difficult decision to make for my mother in law, but seeing her joining the different activities, looking more relaxed, it's clear to see that the Chase invests in its staff which then shows in their high level of care.
Reply from Laura Adams, CRM at The ChaseThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful message. It truly means a great deal to us.
We are delighted to hear that from your very first contact with The Chase you felt confident it was the right place for your mother-in-law. Creating a welcoming, homely environment and offering support from the very beginning is extremely important to us, so it is lovely to know this was your experience.
We are especially pleased to hear how comfortable and settled your mother-in-law has become in such a short time. Your comments about the food, the way choices are presented to residents living with dementia, and the attention to detail with rooms and clothing labelling are greatly appreciated. These small but meaningful touches are all part of our commitment to providing person-centred care.
It is also wonderful to hear that she is enjoying the activities and appears more relaxed. We will be sure to share your kind words with our team.

My step-mother has advanced Alzheimer's. She has recently moved into The Chase on a permanent basis because we could no longer ensure her safety at home. The staff made enormous efforts to make her feel welcome, understand her needs and help her settle in. The transition has been very successful
and we, together with her friends who have visited, believe she has settled extremely well and is happy.
All of the staff are friendly and professional and all already appear to be well acquainted with my step-mother.

Supporting residents through such an important change is something we take very seriously, and it means a great deal to know that our efforts have helped her feel safe, comfortable, and happy.

There are times in your life that are really hard and it is the people around you that help you get through. When I decided to put dad into Henbrook I felt guilty like I had failed in my bid to look after him and keep my promise to mum. The staff were amazing helped him settle, helped me come to realise
I had made a great decision. Sadly today we lost my father, he chose to spend his last week at Henbrook not in hospital. Every minute of the last week the staff have showed compassion, support empathy and love not only for my dad but for me and my family. They have gone above and beyond. Today I'm not only grieving the loss of my dad but also of a family of staff I had known only 6 months but who had become an extension of my family and most of all friends. I will miss coming into the home and seeing all of you Thank you for absolutely everything and for the support shown in those final days.
Reply from James Chandler, Customer Relations Manager at Henbrook House Care HomeOn behalf of the entire team here at Henbrook I want to thank you so much for this amazing review. We had an impromptu tour including laundry and kitchen from a member of the entertainment team, who demonstrated his passion for the place and his role.
We called late morning when mum was ready to be discharged from hospital. The person we needed was not on site but called us back and made arrangements
for a move the next day (new years eve) not the easiest time of the year.
Mums face was a picture of joy as she was wheeled through the door. We had been offered food whilst waiting.
Mum was exhausted but loved her room, she raved about the full English breakfast and staff made sure she had another the next day. Staff could not do enough to make her feel welcome.
Mum has started to join the activities, and we loved a picture on the social media group of her wearing a balloon crown.
Friday she entertained my wife with Fish, Chips, and Prosecco.
Henbrook is nothing like a an 'old peoples home.' It is somewhere between a care home and hotel. It is her home.

I am very happy to be a resident here. Without exceptions all the staff are kind and friendly which I think is most important, and they are also efficient. Activities are varied and there is always something to do. Food is very good - I have never gone hungry at mealtimes for there is plenty of choice.

My mother went to The Chase for recovery after surgery, agreeing to try it for a short period only. It turns out she loves living there so has decided to stay. All the staff have been kind and friendly as well as being professional and competent. I am delighted Mum is so well looked after in all
aspects.
