Nursing staff were excellent all though more full time none agency.
My aunt sadly passed away whilst at the home nursing staff couldn't do enough for me however I've not heard a word from management not a phone call or card. I notified them of the cremation but no one attended.

More thought required.

My father in law was admitted to Richard House from hospital following a terminal diagnosis. Within the first week they couldn't do enough and even asked him to take part in a video on his second day. This was the only time excellent care was given. There was never enough staff to support him fully, his pain meds were not administered correctly, his RESPECT form wasn't updated after discussing it 3 times which almost resulted in him being sent back to hospital which was against his wishes. Then the manager attempted to block a move to a new care home. We complained and requested that the video was not used as it was not a true reflection of the home. The care he received was way below par. He passed a few months ago and it was distressing to see that they had used the video to promote this home when they did not give him the appropriate end of life care

My daughter and I attended activities in March and April, it was lovely to see happy residents and staff joining in as well as visitors, makes all the difference having activities on, as residents are bored if nothing on. The lady doing activities is brilliant with the residents, she is so bubbly and residents love her. Especially as last year, no activities and residents looked miserable, sitting about with nothing to do all day. R.H is a lovely place, just a shame staff shortages put lots of pressure on staff.

My father was staying for end of life care, and throughout his stay, the staff were always kind, welcoming and very caring towards him and the whole family.
They encouraged his independence throughout, and as a family, we enjoyed time with him because of this. The room and garden were a lovely space to visit, which we did every day.

The team's care was excellent, and I thank them all. I would highly recommend this facility to others.

The care RH gave my husband was outstanding. During his 3 weeks there he was treated with respect and kindness.

Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were kind and friendly. I never felt that I was asking too many questions and the staff always took the time to make me feel safe and secure in my decision to have my husband's end of life with them. He died peacefully and with dignity.

Since the new manager took over we have been much happier with my mums time at Richard House Care Home. An increase in activities has been noticed and the cares who look after my mum are exceptional. They seem to really care for her.The accommodation itself is always nice and clean, plus nothing like any other care home we have experienced. Bedrooms lounge, cinema room, communal spaces are all really nice and modern and airy. We would recommend this home for sure.

My family member has been living at Richard House Care Home for more than a year now, their dementia has progressed but behaviour has improved, this is partly due to the medication but is also due to to the hard work of the staff in identifying the trigger points and getting the support of external bodies to assist where required. Almost all of the staff are supportive to the residents and pro-active in their approach, I have noticed that the staff that are not as supportive or pro-active do not seem to last long in the home. Cleaning is very good at the home and my family member creates them a lot of cleaning work. The staff monitor and record all food and drink that they give to the residents to ensure that they are getting fluids and nutrition, this is particularly important to know as my family member can't remember when they last ate or drank. It was good to see the animals at the home this week, lots of the residents enjoyed this visit. Thank you to all staff.

The care shown to Mum as been brilliant. To see the change in Mum is so good to see. It is not only the family that has noticed the change. I attended a hospital appointment at the hospital diabetic foot clinic. The doctors were amazed at just how well her ulcers were healing since moving from another care home. The overall appearance of the skin on her legs and feet is so much better now that they are being cream regularly like they had ask. Only a month yet so much improvement in that time. It is so good to see the manager and care manager ( Julie and Jack ) do shifts nursing and caring and not sitting in office all the time. They are leading a great team. Thanks go to everyone for making Mum so welcome and cared for and bring the smile back. Sharon Asher

Overall Experience
I have visited my brother three times on a Saturday morning recently at about 10.00 to 10.30 am. Each time he was not out of bed and had not been given any breakfast. After the first occasion I gave the care home a description of my findings on their website and a manager rang me to advise that she would later respond in detail. I have received no reply to date.
There clearly seems to be a shortage of carers on duty at certain times.
The care home staff all seem very pleasant people who have been very helpful when I have visited and I am sure they all work very hard. However, perhaps they do not have the time to attend to the small details that can improve the quality of life for a resident, that has very little mobility.
The care home is very nicely furnished and is very clean. The staff should be commended for this.

As an accountant I fully understand that the care home needs to be financially viable but I hope the lack of staff is not being done to maximise profits.

My dear father became a resident at Richard House Care Home in May 2024 due to his lack of mobility and need of 24 hour care. He was 95 years old at this time. He had this 96th birthday on 2nd September 2024. Dad was looked after so well. The carers were kind and considerate towards him at all times. He had little appetite, yet the home cooked him what he felt able to eat. I visited dad most days, and was always made to feel welcome. I cannot speak highly enough of the care home. It is more like a 5 star hotel than a care home. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. If there was something that dad needed, extra the staff always went that extra mile. First class all round.

My Mum has been a resident of Richard House since July 2024. The transition into the home was very easy and everyone pulled together to settle Mum is quickly. Nan has been at Richard House since August 2022, being one of the earliest residents. She's been comfortable and happy at the home since and the staff are very supportive, caring and friendly. The current team all know Nan by name, engage with her in a positive and personal manner, reflecting her feelings and her understanding as her Dementia allows. Staff have always made family members feel welcome and support our family as Nan's condition changes. The home manager has made a real effort to improve how management engages with residents and much better. The food on offer for residents is first class and any alternative needs and support (after hospital stays etc) are accommodated. Nan's room is kept really clean and she enjoys engaging regularly with the hairdresser and activities. Care staff go above and beyond to ensure Nan is looked after and family is informed of any concerns and issues. The only issues are those provided to the home by others that make things more frustrating for staff than is necessary.

The majority of the staff are extremely hardworking, however, it is noticeable how short staffed they are. They are expected to do a hell of a lot on the ground floor with 2 or 3 of them on. I felt sorry for the staff last week as they could have done with an extra pair of hands. When nan first went it there they had an activities coordinator and regularly did activities. However this is no longer the case so activities don't happen as frequent now or if at all. On a few occasion's upon arrival the residents are alone in the lounge room, not for only 5 minutes at a time, it can be up to 15-20 minutes. But if there is only 2 staff on they can only be in one place at one time. However, sometimes this is due to a daily staff meeting which is odd that no one would stay with residents. As nan is a falls risk this does concern me. The food is okay, sometimes nan likes it , sometimes she doesn't. I think more staff is needed in order to make things better for the staff and residents.

Mum had to move care homes in Grantham unexpectedly at short notice.
Myself and my husband were under pressure to find somewhere for Mum and looked at several care homes in Grantham.
We called without appointment at Richard House and were met with care and compassion by the manager introducing us to staff including the activities co-ordinator who showed us around the lovely facilities, for example the in-house cinema, bedrooms, dining rooms and activity rooms.
The manager took a thorough assessment of Mum's needs offering to deal with the financial matters, liaising with her CEO and Adult Social Care insisting that we relax whilst she established a placement for Mum.
Mum was invited to look round selecting one of two lovely rooms complete with en-suite and facilities to help with her mobility needs.

Absolutely nothing has been too much trouble for the manager at Richard House, we simply cannot thank her enough for her first class service, we are sure Mum will be very happy.

The care home that Mum was staying in closed at very short notice.
Myself and my wife looked at several care homes in Grantham, then called unannounced at Richard House.
The manager there took time and trouble to ensure that we were thoroughly shown around the home which is warm and welcoming. The manager recognised we were distressed about having to move Mum insisting we relax whilst she attended to the financial matters speaking to her CEO, Adult Social Care and the County Council's contracts manager.
Mum was given a choice of two lovely rooms, both en-suite with lovely decoration and furnishings complete with necessary aids to living to help Mum with her mobility needs.
Absolutely nothing has been too much trouble for the manager and the staff at Richard House, this has made a difficult time much easier for us and most importantly Mum who has settled immediately into her new home.

We simply cannot thank the manager and staff enough for what they have done for Mum.

I have found since the new manager has taken over at Richard House it is going downhill. The staff no longer seem happy in their work, they still take good care of the residents. My mum is on the 2nd floor and I find her bored all the time. The first floor is always doing things. Just because mum has dementia she still has a brain that needs to keep working, she used to do magic painting and colour books but now nothing for any of them.
