When you have to hand over the care of a loved one to a nursing home and the staff employed there you have to hope and trust that they will be treated with kindness, compassion and respect and receive the best possible care day and night. Every time I left my mother I felt confident that this would happen and it helped to ease the sadness of the end of care life. I cannot praise the staff enough for everything they did for my mother and the support they gave us as a family.

Reply from Kerstin Taylor, Village Manager at Bupa Aston-on-Trent Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind words. We loved caring for your mother who is much missed by the team who had the privilege to care for her in her last stages of life.

My father moved into Dovedale in December 2021 and I cannot be more grateful to all of the team in how they care for my dad. Although at times difficult for him due to the language barrier but the team have always tried their best to make him feel comfortable and looked after. The Village is welcoming - from staff to the atmosphere, and my father's living accommodation is always clean, bright, well equipped and suited to his needs. When I have asked for additional support from the team, this has been met with care, consideration for all, and nothing has been too much trouble.

Reply from Kerstin Taylor, Village Manager at Bupa Aston-on-Trent Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind comments. We are so pleased your dad has settled so well in his new home and the team very much enjoy looking after him and communicating with him in their very individual way. It is great to have him be part of our resident family.

My mum went to Richmond for end of life care.
It was hard to find a care home to take her in, staff that arranged this for me went over and above board to make sure this happened as fast as possible.
The rooms are excellent with views of the country side that is very calming for dementia patients.
The carers are friendly, caring, patient and kind.

The last few weeks of her life was spent with people around her that cared.

My wife was the first resident in Milldale nursing care facility.
The staff were attentive and caring.
They developed a mutual loving relationship with residents.
Over the years, especially since Covid, the high number of permanent staff changes has affected the staff/resident dynamic. I do not see the same levels of intimacy as before.
I do expect that with the current recruitment of permanent staff things will be back to normal.

When visiting I am always welcomed by the staff.

I live and work overseas and so it's particularly important to me to know that my mother is being well looked after. I have found the Village Manager to be accessible, responsive and helpful and her team professional, kind and friendly. We chose this care home because we wanted the best for our mother and we have not been disappointed.

I feel comfortable in saying that under the current Management my hopes and expectations have been fully met during the past several years. This is despite the struggles of maintaining staffing levels and client safety during the horrors of the Pandemic which has made life difficult for care staff and thier vulnerable charges.

My friend (who was among the first residents at The Village) has died, but I know she was content and comfortable, and I know the Staff (on the whole) were kind, and supportive. I also know that the Care Team welcomed constructive discussion about the ongoing care of the Residents. I wish everyone continued success.

Thank you so much for your kind review. We have always welcomed your feedback and support and these have helped us develop the services we are offering to both your friend specifically and our residents in general. My sister is in the dementia unit, which is extremely well run, with exceptionally caring staff. It is clean, bright and welcoming. As I do not live nearby I am unable to visit regularly, but know that she is in a very good place, where she is happy, loved and well looked after. I have also found all the other staff at Richmond Villages Aston-on-Trent approachable, friendly and helpful.

My mum moved to Richmond Villages in 2018 as a resident and latterly, receiving nursing care. Mum was extremely happy, always felt cared for and enjoyed mixing in with activities on offer. The home's attention to detail and safety throughout Covid has been exemplary. The care provided to Mum in the last weeks of her life was exceptional, she was treated with compassion, dignity and kindness. Alongside this, as relatives, we were allowed the flexibility to visit and stay over as we needed to.

Excellent welcome and introduction to the options available which seem flexible and adapt to need. Unfortunately, dad's admission became more of a crisis. The staff coped well with initial unsettled behaviours and made dad feel welcome. Very attentive and encouraging him to join in, which he is surprisingly enjoying. Looking good that he will see this as a long term solution. The flexible catering service is definitely a plus and should be continued.

Richmond Aston-on-Trent is a lovely, warm, welcoming and caring community. My uncle was treated wonderfully by all staff for the two years he was in residence. They provided him with the utmost care and attention; in the best possible way with dignity and respect.

The facilities are excellent, cleanliness was a priority, the food and beverage quality and choice is that of a top-class restaurant. Continuos choice of snacks and drinks throughout every day; was much appreciated by my uncle. He could not have received better care and support.

On my admission to Richmond, I was incapable of assessing my condition etc around me and was reliant on my family to assist with financial matters. On starting to get interested in these matters the cost seems to be expensive but I have not made a fair financial comparison with others as yet but I am very happy here thanks.

It is encouraging to see the changes being effected by the new care manager.
In the past 12 months, matters have slipped because of the rapid turn over of senior staff.
I am very hopeful that the new regimen will bring continuity to the care provided and provide the highest level of care that the residents pay for and deserve.

I know the CQC is keeping a weather eye on them and feel confident, from what I have seen recently, that the Unit is well on the road to being the 5* facility we want.
