Riverdale Care Home is where first-class care meets luxury living. This 40-bed exceptional care home provides outstanding residential, nursing, respite and dementia care in a beautiful purpose-built setting, which offers private en-suite rooms and rooms for couples. Chatterbox: a unique way of initiating conversations amongst residents and staff, by encouraging residents to ask a simple question and posting it in the 'Chatterbox'.
Make a Wish: residents choose a special wish they would like to fulfil, and these wishes are granted periodically throughout each year, giving residents and their families an occasion to look forward to where special memories are made.
About Me: an initiative designed to help staff get to know each individual, their likes, dislikes and what is important to them.
Lifestyle Pioneers: residents are given the opportunity to become a 'pioneer' in a lifestyle field of their choice. Whether they like to paint, garden or read, there is a pioneer role for everyone at Riverdale.

My Dad is well cared for and is listened too, they are lots of activities for the residents and rooms are kept very clean, staff are all brilliant and appear to enjoy their job.
One issue I have had is that my Dad's clothes often go missing and as tumble dried often shrink so have to be replaced.

I have visited Riverdale a number of times and each time I have been impressed by the quality of care, patience, and understanding of all staff. Their demeanour is always one of cheeriness and nothing is too much trouble for any staff member. At very short notice their arrangements for a Family Christmas
Day had to be changed because of inclement weather. But, you would never have known it! Well done to everyone for a wonderful afternoon.

Over the last few weeks, I have witnessed and experienced an overwhelming lift in the staff's morale in and around Riverdale. I believe this is due to new management who displays a real presence around the home. The home feels a much happier place to be. Staff are much more motivated. Overall standards
in both care and support have clearly risen along with activities, cleanliness, and overall appearance. I feel very lucky to have my Mum as a resident at Riverdale. When I leave after a visit I feel she is safe and well cared for.

We have been coming monthly to visit a resident for the past 18 months. We have found the staff friendly and welcoming, very positive in their interaction with residents.
She is well cared for and always looks smart. There are high standards of cleanliness in the rooms and the toilet!
The security
is good and over we have been impressed with the high standard.

My dad moved into Riverdale in August and so far we have been very happy. Dad has settled in well, the staff are friendly and attentive. Dad is happy and being very well looked after, which is peace of mind for the rest of the family.

All staff at Riverdale were happy to help from the outset. They put a package in place to get my Mother out of hospital and everything was arranged quickly and efficiently to welcome her within a few days of my first contact which was crucial and very helpful. Mum settled ok, but as she was only there
for recuperation after an operation she wanted to keep herself to herself rather than join in with the full-time residents. The staff understood her needs and whilst encouraged her to come out of her room didn't insist or keep on trying, which was appreciated. We had some medical issues initially which the nursing staff handled quickly and successfully and the care staff looking after Mum's personal care were generally really lovely - different characters as always suiting everyone differently. I visited Mum every day at various times and was always warmly welcomed and treated like a friend which was lovely.
I felt Riverdale is doing a really wonderful job for all residents both full-time and temporary.

Words cannot express the gratitude my siblings and I feel for the care and warmth the staff at Riverdale had for our mum. She was well looked after right up to the time of her passing.
The home is bright and airy with lots of going on and everyone was included. Thank you all the staff for everything.

My mother's end-of-life care was outstanding. My family and I spent a week at Mum's bedside and the home not only looked after Mum extremely well, but all the staff ensured that my family and I were also taken care of. They were respectful and caring to us all right to the very end. Mum was in the
best hands - everything was thought of, including putting a rose on her bed after Mum had been removed to the funeral directors. The staff gave us plenty of time to pack up Mum's possessions and offered help with absolutely everything. As sad as it was that we lost our mother, it was a blessed release for her to go, and she wasn't on her own at the time of passing. I cannot recommend Riverdale Care Home in Braintree enough. Not only is it a lovely place to be, but we all had peace of mind that Mum really did have the best care throughout her stay there. All the staff, from the top to the bottom were fantastic. Thank you very much to everyone at Riverdale.

My mother was a resident at Riverdale for a little over two years. I have been consistently impressed with the level of care that Riverdale provides. Not only are the facilities and atmosphere excellent, but the staff are amazing right from the managers to the 1 to 1 carers. I can't thank them enough
for the care and respect they showed Mum and our family throughout her residency. There seemed to be nothing that was too much trouble for them. Their infinite patience and understanding helped guide us through Mum's final days and created a comfortable space so Mum could pass away with dignity, something that I will be forever grateful for.
I can unreservedly recommend Riverdale as a safe and very well-run care home.

My mother-in-law was transferred from the hospital to Riverdale for end-of-life care. I have been a nurse for 36 years and the compassion, care, and kindness that was shown to my Mother-in-law and us as a family was phenomenal.
My Mother-in-law had not been treated well in the London hospital. When
I arrived to see her on the day of admission she was smiling for the first time in weeks. The staff were so gentle with her at all times. We could come and go as we pleased and there was always the offer of a cup of tea/coffee or just generally checking in with us. On the day that my Mother-in-law died, it was so peaceful and calm. The staff were there if we needed them but not intrusive.

My father stayed at Riverdale for the last two months of his life, the nursing care he received was of the highest standard and as a family, we could not have asked for a better place. All the staff from the nurses, receptionist, cook, and cleaner to the caretaker treated Dad with total respect and
catered for his & the family’s requests. On our daily visits to Riverdale, we always felt welcomed which was nice & put us at ease during those stressful days.
As a family, we will never forget Riverdale & it’s professional caring staff you are a credit to your profession.

My sister has been in the care of Riverdale Care Home from September 2021 until her death in February 2024. Throughout this time, she received loving and safe care from dedicated staff and management. The home is up-to-date, bright, clean and welcoming and all needs are catered for, including activities,
catering and hairdressing etc. Relatives quickly establish easy relationships with staff at all levels and as a consequence, can be assured that all residents are safely and well looked after.

My mother was moved to Riverdale at the tail end of February 2024. For the first time in a number of months, I knew that she was in a safe place, somewhere cosy and warm.
The staff that I encountered at Riverdale were uniformly friendly, caring and very warm.
The medical care given to my mother was
exemplary and it was clear that she felt that too. She ended her life there and again, it was allowed to take place with such dignity.

My dad has been in Riverdale for a long time now so myself and the family are very familiar with it.
I want to and have got to say that this is the friendliest, happiest and most professional, caring organisation, and I cannot thank them enough.
Staffing levels are excellent.
Management are friendly
approachable and genuinely care.
Every nurse and care worker seems so happy and the atmosphere here is the best I have seen in all the care homes we visited.
From my father, Mum, other family members and myself thank you so much and thank you for striving achieving and repeating excellence.

Before Xmas there were 2 days when all residents capable with carers and manager were taken to the local garden centre which had a large Christmas display. First of all, we all had tea and cake when we arrived. We spent time walking around the Xmas wonderland which was really spectacular because it
gave me time to buy cards or presents as I wished and have a laugh, which lifted my spirits.

My mother was a resident at Riverdale for nearly four years and sadly passed away in December 2023. The professional and compassionate approach shown from the staff when it became clear that she urgently needed to be admitted to hospital was exemplary. They treated my mother not only with concern but
also with great dignity and always found the time, in very stressful circumstances, to keep me fully updated with her condition and how they felt it should be managed. During my mother's time at Riverdale, the staff showed her such love and warmth and seemed to innately understand what was needed for her. I am truly very grateful for the support and kindness she was shown and would not hesitate to recommend Riverdale to anyone looking for a top-class care home.

My mother-in-law has been very happy since she moved to Riverdale, and on arrival, all the staff worked hard to settle her in and took the time to get to know her. As her needs increased from being reasonably able and independent to being dependent on nursing care, the home has seamlessly managed this
transition to the highest standard. The home is very well-led, and all the staff are caring, compassionate, motivated and enthusiastic. The activities, food, celebrations and general day-to-day life at Riverdale make it a lovely place for residents and visitors. The personal attention that my mother-in-law has received has given her family the reassurance that it was the right decision for her to become a resident and I would not hesitate to recommend Riverdale.
