I recently spent 8 weeks at the Callywhite after an operation and wish to express my heartfelt thanks for the care I received. At all times I was treated with consideration and respect whilst being actively encouraged to make relationships with the other residents and take part in the many activities. I particularly enjoyed the visiting music groups and the board games in the dining room as well as ice creams in the park.

Thank you to everyone who helped me in my early recovery. I look forward to seeing you all at the Summer Fayre.

Mum received excellent care when with the Callywhite. It was unfortunate that she wasn't particularly grateful, but they were responsive, remembered all her little foibles and preferences, continued to offer care and services even when she was aggressive or reluctant to participate, and they were always cheerful and supportive towards me. There were options to take part in activities, there was a lovely outdoor space on the roof which was safe and easy to access, and the room was lovely with great views and high levels of comfort.

We were very impressed by the staff who were very friendly and helpful. The food was so very much better than the meals that the hospital had been serving for the previous two months.
The accommodation was excellent- the room had plenty of space. We were impressed by the external services, the chiropodist and the hair dresser were an added bonus!

Thank you so much for helping out for the three week respite. - it really made a difference

My husband was a resident in the Callywhite for five and a half years until his death in March 2026. He went there during COVID.
Throughout this time I cannot express how wonderfully he was cared for. The beautiful immaculately clean rooms, the lovely meals, the amount of care and attention put into the activities to the wonderful care staff. Everyone has always gone the extra step to make his life as fulfilled and comfortable as was possible.
If there were any concerns senior management were always available.

Our family will be eternally grateful

The Callywhite is an excellent care home which benefits from being designed for dementia patients.so that it is a safe environment for residents at all times. I had good experience of another home where my mother- in- law was resident for her final years so I had no hesitation in trusting The Callywhite to care for my wife'when due to her dementia she needed the care that I was no longer able to provide. I wish to praise all staff who are so cheerful, kind and welcoming and this is across the spectrum from the manager and administrator to all the carers. I never cease to be impressed with the love and care they provide to all residents and the endless patience that doing so requires. I know my wife is safe and well cared for and I could ask for no more.

The Callywhite is an excellent care home with high quality accommodation, a good location and, most importantly, wonderful staff. The level of care combined with respect, compassion and good humour is truly impressive. Communications with relatives are excellent, and I experienced many instances of flexibility and responsiveness to individual needs or requests. A wide range of entertainments and activities is organised to cater for all tastes. My mother particularly loved the visits of various animals including owls and a miniature pony. There are countless examples of where staff went above and beyond their duties; just one example is the caring and imaginative way they organised Christmas Day celebrations and carried them out with such good humour despite missing their own day at home. I am truly in awe of their dedication and kindness.

I am always reassured by the caring and kind attitude of the staff at the Callywhite. My mum is well cared for and is allowed to wander in a safe manner around the home. All the staff from house keepers, maintenance staff, carers and social organisers are always friendly and welcoming.
I am very impressed by the contribution of the social activities staff who are exceptional in their loving and gentle approach to the residents. They work hard to arrange a programme of activities for the residents and the Christmas events programme was amazing! Mum is often unable to access the social activities in a meaningful way but is still welcomed and encouraged to take part.
The administrator is always welcoming to visitors and readily available for any queries.

Thank you to all the staff at the Callywhite for all your hard work and care.

The Callywhite was recommended to us as the perfect place for Mum to live, after independent living was no longer an option due to frailty and decreased mobility. She needed help with day to day living but also plenty of company, conversation, television, laughter, puzzles, jigsaws and frequent cups of tea!
We made a preliminary visit and with the availability of a room overlooking the park and a very positive first impression of the staff, building and facilities, the decision was made.
We didn't look anywhere else.

She's been in her home from home for about three months now....settled, happy, well cared for and with peace of mind for the family.

After visiting Callywhite care home we were in no doubt this was the place for mums respite. The staff were lovely kind caring people and we felt reassured that mum would be well looked after. One week turned into a permanent residence as mum decided it was the place she wanted to be in. The facilities were excellent and the care was superb. Mum was treated with care and dignity by all. The staff always made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately mums stay was quite short but the love and care extended to her and our family was outstanding. I would highly recommend Callywhite to anyone who is looking for high quality care for a loved one. We certainly experienced this for mum and are extremely grateful for the care she received.

It was a massive relief when we finally lined up Callywhite care home in Dronfield for my mother who is suffering from Dementia.
The facility is well set up, homely, clean and tidy. The management and staff have been outstanding in every aspect of the care for my mother. Mum is the happiest and most settled she has been since this terrible disease took hold.
Having spent many hours in the facility while visiting my mum, I have been very impressed with the professionalism of the staff, particularly when dealing with difficult situations. They are clearly well trained in dealing with residents with dementia, while still being compassionate and caring. They manage to make my mum smile with pleasantries, lots of tea and a little banter.

Both my brother and I live on the opposite side of the world, so good communication between the care home management and us is key, Callywhite have been excellent on this front.

From the first time my brother and I viewed The Callywhite we knew we had found a real gem. Mum moved into the home in October 2023 and settled very quickly. This was due to the fact that every single staff member made her feel welcome and met her needs without hesitation. They became friends to mum but also to all the family. I thought I would find it difficult visiting her not in her own home but how wrong was I! Sadly we lost mum a few weeks ago and the staff were as upset as us which I think says it all.I can't thank them enough for the care and attention they gave her.As a family we will be forever grateful. If I could give ten stars,I would.

From the first moment we arrived at The Callywhite we felt assured, welcomed and so happy with our choice. The whole team are so friendly and helpful and never stop. It's a lovely, calm, quiet and caring space and everyone talks to residents, family and to hear chatter between the residents is a big plus. From the initial call, to moving in, everything was dealt with calmly and nothing was too much trouble, and a very warm welcome was received. Mum settled straight away and I'm sure this was because Mum was allowed her space, her time but she knew someone was there to help even reassuring hugs and words from Team Callywhite were so appreciated by Mum.

My mother-in-law has been at The Callywhite since September 2022 after it became unsafe for her to live alone. With the help of the lovely staff and Manager, she settled really well. She has continued to be happy and settled at the care home since she moved there, and is really well looked after by all the staff, who are all really friendly and keep us informed of everything. As a family, we couldn't have wished for a better home, thank you.

My family member is kept safe and comfortable, and I couldn't recommend a more caring environment than The Callywhite.

Review from D C (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 April 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother moved into The Callywhite Care Home many years ago and died there recently of severe dementia. In the days when my mum was mobile, we initially attempted to keep Mum in her own home with care workers calling three times a day. This just confused my mother more. She was either frightened being alone at home or scared of why care workers were there. As my mother started piling chairs and tables in front of the door so they couldn't access, we knew it was time for a care home. Me and my sister expected my mother not to settle but at least she'd be safe. To our delight, within a few days, my mother settled. Some days she thought she was staff herself, other days she thought she'd been there years, a few days she thought she was married to another resident. Whatever the situation, The Callywhite staff were amazing and I can't thank them enough. They have many activities, nice rooms, the care home doesn't smell like a care home and the atmosphere is so friendly, I recommend them highly.
