Overall Experience
Mum went into the Grand Care Home this year.
We viewed the Grand in advance, and felt the Grand was more like a home than a care home , we were proven right.
Mum settled in quickly and began joining in with some of the fitness classes with the wide range of activities provided which she enjoyed.
Management and staff throughout mum's journey have been so caring and thoughtful in her daily needs. Mum took a turn for the worst & was bedridden for the last two of months of her life. During this time, mum was cared for with love and dignity. All staff made her short time with them a positive one. We too were welcomed with open arms. Such a lovely experience.
We can't thank the staff enough.
The Grand has so much to offer, very caring + respectful to resident's requirements.
The food menu choices are excellent. The many activities provided, offered daily are designed to encourage everyone to join in within their abilities.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Grand for their loved ones.

From the 1st day mum became resident to her last moments. The staff were always at hand to help + assist mum in her needs, care + support. All staff were very caring, smiling + supportive in our needs also. We will never forget all the staff, from reception, office, catering, hospitality to laundry staff who always put mum clothing back for her.

It is so difficult to write a review of a place which is impeccable. From caring for Mum to her every need was just perfect. Special meals were prepared for her bearing in mind of her religious requirements. Staff were so lovely and really looked after her so well. They went above and beyond to even keep the family comfortable as much as making tea/coffee for us. Mum was very spoilt and very well looked after. Can't thank enough every member of staff were brilliant.

I could not be more grateful to the staff looking after my mother. They treated her with respect and cared and looked after her like she was their own. My mum was unable to communicate well due to the language barrier and effects of stroke and dementia but the staff soon got to understand her so in the later stages of mum's life they knew what she needed and how to keep her comfortable.

If we felt mum needed something, we were able to speak to staff on duty and they would attend to her needs.

In the last days of mum's life, the nurses and carers would ensure she remained comfortable and attended to escalating matters if she needed medical attention.

On the day mum died, the family were by her bedside and we were given the space to spend those last precious moments with her. The staff on duty were so caring and attentive and treated mum with the dignity she deserved.

I would not hesitate to recommend the care home to others looking for a suitable place for their loved ones

My mum was in the care of the dedicated and professional team at The Grand from Jan 23 until July 25, and I can honestly say, the care she received was never anything less than excellent! The staff are incredibly caring and genuinely sincere in the love and support they provide for the residents. They do their utmost to provide the highest standards of car at all times.
The accommodation is modern, pleasant and always kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. The food provided is really good and the activities team do an amazing job of providing varying activities, outings and visits from entertainers to keep the residents occupied and engaged. Management are so efficient too, always contactable and eager to help.

All in all, I couldn't have asked for a higher standard of care for my mum during her final years. A huge thank you to the wonderful team at The Grand. You are a credit to your profession, you really are!

I found a very warm welcome and greeting at the front desk and then all the staff greeted and asked if I was ok. I found this very reassuring. The care provided by the staff was considerate, lovely and did not fall short in any department. The Grand is clean and secure. I found my mum was safe and secure in The Grand's care. Many thanks to all staff and management for the fantastic care provided.

Having enjoyed the facilities in The Grand in 2024, I returned there in April 2025 as it offered medical and respite care that I needed following an operation. The staff were friendly and attentive to my needs, which contributed to my early recovery. Furthermore, I was aware of how gentle, kind and caring they were to the dementia residents in the home. The management and staff were professional and understanding and responsive to residents' needs. The facilities and rooms are first class and I would certainly return for respite and medical care in the future.

My father only spent a couple of months here on end-of-life care until he sadly passed. The care he received at The Grand was respectful, kind, caring and professional. Through my frequent visits I got to know the team who supported him. The home manager has managed to hire some of the loveliest people I have ever met. Each time I left after visiting I felt confident and reassured that I had secured him a place in a good care home. It relieved a lot of the anxieties and guilt I felt about the entire situation. My father passed peacefully in early February but I will be forever grateful to the nurses/carers who made his transition from this world to the next an easy one. God bless you all.

I can not recommend The Grand Care Home in West Bridgford Nottingham enough. My Father was fast-tracked out of hospital in May 2024. It was a traumatic period and to place your relative in any care home is a massive step the pressure to get it right is immense. Having visited quite a few and being horrified at what we saw, the visit to The Grand was amazing within a 1 minute of entering I already had a good feeling and after being shown around the choice was easy to make. The staff are fantastic and went above and beyond in the care and friendly ship they gave to my Father. Every member of staff was superb you could not wish for better. The building is kept to the highest standard. I have no hesitation in recommending The Grand to anyone who needs to find a care home for a member of their family. Thank you all at The Grand for the care you gave my Dad in his last days.

Tracy Job Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2020

I am a qualified nurse and trained at the University of Central Lancashire, qualifying in 1999. Totalling 30 years of care/nursing experience, my passion lies with care homes, and I have extensive management experience as a home manager, including troubleshooting, care home turnaround and Regional management. These areas have given me a wealth of knowledge, and decided to come back into the daily running of the care home after being out and about, travelling many miles. I am proud to be part of the team here at The Grand and to work for New Care, working towards its vision. My team and I are dedicated to making each day different and special for residents.

The care we deliver is person-centred, ensuring that individual needs and requirements are met. It is important to us that residents retain as much independence as possible with support to continue pursuing the interests and hobbies they have always enjoyed.

Personal hobbies and interests include family, Horse riding and my three West Highland Terriers, Dave, Dottie & Alfie, A family unit themselves – you may see them in the home occasionally.

I have worked at New Care for 4 years and enjoyed my time at Ruddington Manor, but transferred to The Grand for a new challenge a year ago. I enjoy my job as a Care Manager and am now ecstatic to be successful in my new role as the Deputy Manager. I am able to have autonomy in my role, which helps me thrive and feel satisfied in my role. It's ‘Grand at the Grand’ as we say, and New Care look after their staff members really well with excellent opportunities for promotions, I can vouch for that. Every day is a different day, and I love that we can make our residents' lives special. I love seeing them smile every day.

Bridget Job Title:Wellbeing CoordinatorJoined: 2015
I have worked for New Care for over 4 years. When I first walked into The Grand, I was amazed that a care home could look like a hotel; I was lost for words. I began as a Senior Carer and then transferred to the Wellbeing Team. I was then given the opportunity to lead the Wellbeing team.

New Care is a very family-oriented and person-centred company; nothing is too much trouble to meet the residents’ needs and wishes.

I look forward to coming to work each day, and I can’t believe I get paid to do a job that I love!

Selma Job Title:Head of CareJoined: 2022

I only started working in the care sector in 2021 as a carer at the Grand, and in 2022, I was encouraged to become a Team Leader. I have to admit that it was very difficult at the beginning for me; however, with great support from our Management team and colleagues, I have learnt a lot and completed my Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care in 2023. I have been given the amazing opportunity to step up as Head of Care in 2024, and I am enjoying learning and developing within my new role. I love our wonderful team and am very proud of the care and support we provide to all our residents, families and staff. In my spare time, I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles, visiting interesting places and spending time with my family.

Paul
Paul Job Title:Head Chef

I lead our dedicated culinary team with over 15 years of experience as a Head Chef, specialising in the care sector. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep understanding that food is at the heart of our residents’ well-being and dignity.

I believe dining should be a joyful, fresh, and engaging experience for everyone. As Head Chef, I oversee all aspects of our kitchen, from menu planning and meal preparation to ensuring that every dish we serve is freshly made and full of flavour.

One of my key strengths is working with my team to create meals that meet a wide range of dietary needs. Whether that means preparing diabetic-friendly options, catering for allergies, or producing modified texture meals, we always strive for nutritional balance, great taste, and appealing presentation.

I’m incredibly proud of our team. We work closely together to meet the individual dietary needs of every resident. I genuinely enjoy the challenge of creating food that not only nourishes but also brings a little joy to the table each day.

For me, mealtimes are one of the highlights of the day - a chance to connect, care, and make a difference through good food.

I joined The Grand in January 2024, bringing experience as a care home administrator from a small residential home. Since joining the team, I've made significant progress in my role and am currently studying for my Level 3 Business Administration qualification, with wonderful support from the company throughout. I'm passionate about my work and deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of The Grand Care Centre team.

Outside of work, I love travelling and have been fortunate to visit many countries around the world. Before moving to England, I spent two years living in Canada. I arrived in England at 19, and in the years since, I've built both my life and career here. It truly feels like my forever home, which is why I recently began the process of obtaining my British citizenship.
