The Grand is a purpose-built, ‘new generation’ care facility which offers home-from-home care for up to 82 people in the leafy suburbs of West Bridgford in Nottingham.

The four floor home is expertly designed to provide the highest standards of safety, comfort and care, where residents can benefit from en-suite bedrooms, a beautiful lounge and dining room on each floor, and an assisted spa bathroom.

The Grand is an attractive building, blending traditional brickwork with more contemporary features. Located in a spacious area, the building boasts full height windows which extend from the ground floor to the top floor.

Carefully crafted by an interior designer, the attention to detail inside the home is impressive, with high specification and sophisticated décor designed to create stylish yet comfortable and practical spaces. The interior also features built-in infection control.

Additional facilities available at The Grand include a library, cinema, hairdresser with nail bar and bistro area.

I came to The Grand from hospital. This home is lovely, the food is great and the care is excellent. You get treated with dignity and respect - I love it here and made some great friends. I've been through a lot and if I ever feel low, the staff are always there to make me laugh and support me.

Bearing in mind that I would rather have been at home, I found the Grand to be a pleasant place for respite care with some very nice and helpful staff. It was a pity that there was little access to the outside. A more frequent breath of fresh air would have been welcomed.

Fabulous home, the care for my mum has been all I could have wished for. She has been in the home for two and a half years, all through the difficult Covid period. She wasn't very well when she came in and since being here she has looked better than she has for years, putting on weight etc. She is treated
with respect and kindness and is always looking clean and well cared for. The staff are amazing with her and always friendly to her family visiting. I highly recommend.

My great grandmother moved into The Grand Care Centre due to requiring end of life nursing care. She received a high level of care with the staff being very sympathetic to the family's situation and took the time to explain everything to us so that we knew what to expect, they were so respectful. My
grandmother’s room is beautiful with a lovely view of the garden, it is very clean and well equipped for her needs. The food is of high quality and she soon started eating more and settling into her new environment. Everybody made her feel so welcome and genuinely cared for. The manager of the home, whilst on night duty, even changed a mattress for my grandmother to make her feel more comfortable, this action really moved me. My grandmother is still with us three months later and doing incredibly well. My family and I will be eternally great full to everybody at The Grand Care Centre.

My relative has been in The Grand Care Centre for 6 years where she is very happy. She has thrived in her social life, and activities and eats enjoyable food. She loves her spacious room and most of all the friendly and caring staff who make her feel safe and secure. The medical care she receives is
excellent and I am kept fully informed of any concerns or treatments. There are also excellent facilities for visitors to dine with the residents and the whole atmosphere is warm, light and airy, with comfortable lounges and an attractive garden, where residents are encouraged to participate in the gardening if they want to. I would highly recommend The Grand Care Centre to anyone for its outstanding care, management, facilities and caring staff.

My 91-year old Dad was given excellent care. He arrived in poor health and this deteriorated quickly, simply because he felt comfortable, saw family and relaxed and so his body gave out. However, the staff kept him comfortable and at all times considered his dignity and his right to eat or not eat,
which was exactly what we as a family had requested. I can heartily recommend this care home.

Disappointing experience of two weeks of respite care for a 94-year-old recovering from a prolonged hospital stay. While basic care was ok, but there were many minor problems including poor communication re, appointments and medication etc, and slow responses to calls for assistance (perhaps because
of Covid the home was short-staffed?). Often hard to find any staff when visiting, and main reception phone line often not answered for quite long periods. When things went wrong, the staff seemed defensive rather than apologetic. Finally, the patient sent home in great distress as the wheelchair taxi transport arranged for discharge was not provided. Response to letter of complaint very disappointing. The home has – or had – a reputation for being at the top of the range with a very high level of charges. Given treatment, in this case, we felt we had been misled and overcharged.

I loved this care home from the moment I walked in which is almost 4 years ago now. I had been searching for a home for Mum - she's special and I wanted somewhere special for her to live, and The Grand was exactly what I was looking for.
The facilities are excellent and the home, which is managed by
the manager and her team, runs like clockwork. All of the staff are amazing and I have a high regard for each and every one of them. I don't think the home would be what it is without any member of this obviously very committed and caring team.
My mum has advanced dementia and can be challenging at times but I always witness empathy and understanding from the nursing team and carers, and this makes me happy she's in their care. In short, I can't thank them enough for everything they do for her.

I was delighted with the care my mother received at The Grand. The team could not have been more supportive both to her and the family and even under all the regulations of COVID they still were calm and professional. The staff at The Grand Care Home are first-class; kind, good-humoured and patient. My husband is always clean, smart and comfortable. During the Coronavirus epidemic, they went out of their way to enable me to speak on the phone to my husband and recently, to see him in Reception. When he tested positive
for Coronavirus the nurses rang me frequently to reassure me about his condition and to ask about me. I cannot praise them highly enough.

I visited my mother earlier today. It is a ninety mile each way trip for me as I live in North Yorkshire, I was most impressed with the way your staff helped me to see my mother, bearing in mind the COVID-19 regulations. I was taken outside her room in the garden area and given wonderful help.

Tracy Johnston

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

I am a qualified nurse and trained at the University of Central Lancashire, qualifying in 1999. Totalling 30 years of care/nursing experience my passion lies with care homes and I have extensive management experience as a home manager including troubleshooting, care home turnaround and Regional management. These areas have given me a wealth of knowledge and decided to come back into the daily running of the care home after being out and about travelling many miles. I am proud to be part of the team here at The Grand and to work for New Care working towards its vision. My team and I are dedicated to making each day different and special for residents.


The care we deliver is person-centred, ensuring that individual needs and requirements are met. It is important to us that residents retain as much independence as possible with support to continue pursuing the interests and hobbies they have always enjoyed.


Personal hobbies and interests include family, Horse riding and my three West Highland Terriers Dave, Dottie & Alfie, A family unit themselves – you may see them in the home occasionally.

I have worked at New Care for 4 years and enjoyed my time at Ruddington Manor but transferred to The Grand for a new challenge a year ago. I enjoy my job as Care Manager and now ecstatic to be successful in my new role as the Deputy Manager. I am able to have autonomy in my role which help me thrive and feel satisfied in my role. It's ‘Grand at the Grand’ as we say and New Care look after their staff members really well with excellent opportunities for promotions, I can vouch for that. Every day is a different day and I love that we can make our residents' lives special. I love seeing them smile every day.

I have worked for New Care for over 4 years. When I first walked into The Grand I was amazed that a care home could look like a hotel; I was lost for words. I began as a Senior Carer and then transferred to the Wellbeing Team. I was then given the opportunity to lead the Wellbeing team.
New Care is a very family orientated and person centred company; nothing is too much trouble to meet the resident’s needs and wishes.
I look forward to coming to work each day, and I can’t believe I get paid to do a job that I love!

Having worked for New Care for 7 years I feel that from the very beginning I knew I had made the right decision to become an employee at New Care. As New Care have in-house trainers in all of their homes this is a great advantage to the care industry as there are always opportunities for all staff members to learn new things and career development within the home gaining support and guidance from the manager and home trainer. I aim to provide top-quality training to all staff, by doing this allows staff to provide top-quality care to the residents.
