The Grand is a purpose-built, ‘new generation’ care facility which offers home-from-home care for up to 82 people in the leafy suburbs of West Bridgford in Nottingham.

The four floor home is expertly designed to provide the highest standards of safety, comfort and care, where residents can benefit from en-suite bedrooms, a beautiful lounge and dining room on each floor, and an assisted spa bathroom.

The Grand is an attractive building, blending traditional brickwork with more contemporary features. Located in a spacious area, the building boasts full height windows which extend from the ground floor to the top floor.

Carefully crafted by an interior designer, the attention to detail inside the home is impressive, with high specification and sophisticated décor designed to create stylish yet comfortable and practical spaces. The interior also features built-in infection control.

Additional facilities available at The Grand include a library, cinema, hairdresser with nail bar and bistro area.

Our lovely mum received excellent care during her 6 months at The Grand on floor 3 until she sadly passed away. The Grand is clean and friendly all of the staff are kind and caring and committed and also showed myself and my brother a lot of kindness and support in what was a very difficult time for
us which we are hugely grateful for so thank you to the manager and all the staff.

My dad has been living at The Grand for over three years. The excellent level of care and support he has received has never faltered. Every member of staff genuinely cares about the residents and nothing is ever too much trouble. This has been even more evident during the last few months of lockdown
when the time has been made on 1:1 basis with residents to keep their spirits up.
Despite all the extra medical demands and stress of keeping everyone safe during the pandemic, staff have maintained a focus on the well-being of residents by actively engaging them in their special interests such as gardening and painting (in the case of my dad). On top of this, The Grand has kept us updated on Dad's health and well-being. What a great team and Grand family.

My Dad has resided very happily at The Grand for over three years now, where all aspects of care have consistently been of a very high standard. The last three months have, however, been difficult for us all, with separation from our loved ones perhaps being the toughest challenge. Despite additional
medical and logistical demands on staff, ensuring that residents keep in touch with their families has been one of their top priorities. Communication has been brilliant. The staff have done their utmost to keep family members in touch. It has meant so much to us all.
I have received regular updates on Dad. I have been constantly reassured that Dad has been lovingly supported by everyone at The Grand. So, a big thank you to nursing staff, carers, management and reception. This support has enabled him to continue with his hobbies.
Carers have also been so thoughtful and have remained cheerful. I cannot thank The Grand enough for the wonderful care my Dad has received.

My mother has been a resident here since the home opened five years ago and has blossomed in the last couple of years, due entirely to the caring and friendly nature of the staff at all levels, whether they be they management or cleaners. Lots of care homes provide caring and kind staff, but this is not enough. A care home needs to be run professionally as well. The Grand provides an all round excellence of service from the management and administrative staff to the skilled nurses and carers who support my husband. Having visited other
Homes there is a very big gap between what The Grand offers and other providers in our area. All providers should take a look and learn.

My mother was placed at The Grand in March 2019, myself and my brother chose the Grand as we felt the rooms, facilities, staff and overall presentation of the Grand would be the type of facilities she would choose for herself if she had the capacity. My mother is a very difficult person to manage, exacerbated
by her recent diagnosis of dementia and she has presented many challenges to the care staff, however they have patiently overseen these challenges, always with a smile, and when I raised a personality clash between my mother and a carer with Yana, she dealt with it immediately. The Grand has been very patient with our family whilst we had problems gaining deputyship and we are grateful that there was no threat to our mothers care during this time. I would highly recommend the Grand.

The standard of care is excellent throughout. The staff are friendly and caring towards the residents and there are lots of planned activities. They respond positively to suggestions made by the residents and their families. The accommodation is of very high quality.

I found the staff and management to be very considerate and caring. They tried their best to make you feel your opinion and wishes matters.
They brought in singers and entertainers regularly to try and make the residents enjoy the music and remember the lost times. Visits to the garden centre and shops
were arranged accompanied by carers. Staff seemed very caring and helpful with residents who had dementia and injuries and couldn't feed themselves were assisted at mealtimes. Always a nurse available to issue drugs and medicine at appropriate times.
Night staff made frequent visits to check the health of the sick.

High quality care home. The place is so well designed and understated and the cleanliness is great. It feels much more like a hotel than a care home! I was there visiting my Mum and stayed for about 2 1/2 hours and at least 7 people (staff) came in, all speaking to my Mum. They were all very polite
to me. It has a very good vibe to it. We are pleased our Mum is there!

My sister joined the family at The Grand, West Bridgford in September 2018. I had no concerns placing her there as everyone was so helpful and sympathetic to my sister's needs and also my needs. I am on first name terms with most of the staff and any questions I have they will always help me with. I
can only say that the care my sister gets is second to none. She is happy there and has settled very well.

Looking for somewhere to convalesce post surgery. The Grand was recommended to me by friends who had visited. The Grand in a professional capacity regularly. After visiting myself I booked in for two weeks. I found the staff kind and caring. It was a good environment in which to rest and recover and
if were to require further surgery I would return again.

This month has been a happy time for my husband as he now seems comfortable with the high standards of care and the surroundings, catering and most importantly the therapy sessions have achieved great results and he is enjoying and participating on a daily basis. He suffers from dementia, heart problems,
arthritis, diabetes, incontinence of bowel and urine.
The Grand are coping well with all this and perhaps, more importantly, welcoming him into the company.

Tracy Johnston

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

I am a qualified nurse and trained at the University of Central Lancashire, qualifying in 1999. Totalling 30 years of care/nursing experience my passion lies with care homes and I have extensive management experience as a home manager including troubleshooting, care home turnaround and Regional management. These areas have given me a wealth of knowledge and decided to come back into the daily running of the care home after being out and about travelling many miles. I am proud to be part of the team here at The Grand and to work for New Care working towards its vision. My team and I are dedicated to making each day different and special for residents.


The care we deliver is person-centred, ensuring that individual needs and requirements are met. It is important to us that residents retain as much independence as possible with support to continue pursuing the interests and hobbies they have always enjoyed.


Personal hobbies and interests include family, Horse riding and my three West Highland Terriers Dave, Dottie & Alfie, A family unit themselves – you may see them in the home occasionally.

I have worked for New Care for over 4 years. When I first walked into The Grand I was amazed that a care home could look like a hotel; I was lost for words. I began as a Senior Carer and then transferred to the Wellbeing Team. I was then given the opportunity to lead the Wellbeing team.
New Care is a very family orientated and person centred company; nothing is too much trouble to meet the resident’s needs and wishes.
I look forward to coming to work each day, and I can’t believe I get paid to do a job that I love!

Having worked for New Care for 7 years I feel that from the very beginning I knew I had made the right decision to become an employee at New Care. As New Care have in-house trainers in all of their homes this is a great advantage to the care industry as there are always opportunities for all staff members to learn new things and career development within the home gaining support and guidance from the manager and home trainer. I aim to provide top-quality training to all staff, by doing this allows staff to provide top-quality care to the residents.
