West Hill Care Home is a stunning, new, luxury-affordable care home in the heart of Dartford, Kent. The home provides person-centred residential, nursing, respite and dementia care. Their primary aim is to provide independence, dignity and care in a home designed with residents’ needs in mind.

The purpose-built home offers state-of-the-art facilities. Spread over four floors, with lift access, each resident has their own beautifully decorated bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. Each floor also has an assisted bathroom where residents can enjoy therapeutic colour and music as well as massage and aromatherapy.

Further facilities include an on-site hair salon with full hairdressing service, a treatment room and nail bar, and a vintage-style cinema. My husband's nan was admitted to West Hill after a bad fall in September, initially placed in an assessment bed while her care needs were evaluated.
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how spacious, modern, and clean the home was - honestly felt more like a hotel. The reception staff were
incredibly welcoming, and the personalised care continued as we moved upstairs to her room, which was spacious with a private bathroom and a TV on the wall.
The care she has received has been exceptional, and I cannot speak highly enough of the team at West Hill. The carers and entertainment staff go above and beyond, treating each resident as a unique individual. It's heartwarming to see the attention and kindness they show to everyone.

My father was admitted to your care home after being discharged from hospital after having a stroke. After ten minutes I knew this was going to be the place I wanted my dad to have as his home in his last sad months. I have never ever experienced so much professionalism mixed with so much love and devotion
that was given to my dad. The one thing that did get me was my mum, my sister and myself were all given exactly the same amount of this as my dad was. To say it made us somewhat emotional is an understatement. Not once did I ever have a doubt that my dad wasn't being cared for so professionally. The home and every single one of the staff will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you all so very very much.

My mother is currently a resident at West Hill Care Home. The facilities are excellent, the staff are polite, friendly and professional and any little issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently. Our mother has been at the home since it opened. It was a very difficult decision but we needn't have been concerned as the staff are so attentive and caring towards her. Despite the language barrier and dementia, the staff still manages to communicate well and ease her anxiety and confusion. It is
very reassuring to know that she is in a safe, clean and happy environment where she is treated with respect and dignity. The building is new and modern, with a beautiful outdoor garden. The central location and parking facilities help to make visitation easy too. I can highly recommend this care home and thank the staff for looking after my mother so well.

From the outset with our initial emergency need for respite care for my mother, the management was very supportive and versatile in helping us to secure care with little notice. The managers and staff were very welcoming to Mum and she appreciated that. Staff were attentive and kind to her throughout
her time at West Hill and she seemed to respond particularly well to one, who was very encouraging and engaging with her and I think he made her time there much better. Although, as it turned out, these were the last weeks of her life, the care she received couldn't have been better.

Since my mother first arrived at West Hill Care Home she settled in very quickly and to date enjoys the comfort and security that is provided.
The staff always show care and kindness which Mum relays to me whenever I visit. Additionally, she makes a point of saying that this is her forever home which
is reassuring considering her age.

Our 92-year-old mother has been at West Hill for 15 months now, my sisters and I are very happy with her care, friendly and professional staff, and her en-suite accommodation and meals are top quality. We would recommend West Hill to anyone looking for the best care for their loved ones.

Prior to my mother's move (3 weeks ago) I was given a comprehensive tour of the home and a chat with the owner. Within days the manager was assessing my mother's needs. Both were extremely supportive and highly professional. Since then I have continued to find the home to be extremely friendly from
the warm greeting I receive from receptionists upon arrival to the nursing staff and carers giving me positive updates on my mother's condition. I am also contacted by phone with any significant news.
Most importantly my mother is comfortable and safe in her large room and is well looked after by an incredibly dedicated team. The room is spotless as is the home. She had been comparatively challenging and reluctant to participate in life with others. However, since arriving she has been actively encouraged by the excellent staff to join in activities, visits to the patio and meal times.
I could not be happier with the care my mother receives and I am delighted that I chose West Hill!

Our mum was resident at West Hill Care Home for almost 18 months and I can honestly say we couldn’t have made a better choice.
More importantly than the excellent accommodation, facilities and activities provided, Mum could not have had better care. Every member of staff with whom we came into contact,
including management and those usually behind the scenes, was kind and caring, several giving way more than could reasonably be expected. We always felt confident that Mum was respected, she was safe and her needs were met. Mum referred to everybody there, residents and staff alike, as her second family.
We are extremely grateful for everything, including the enormous help and support given to me at an extremely difficult time leading up to and after her death.
I am very happy to recommend West Hill Care Home.

My mum joined the care home in January. It has been a difficult period of adjustment for her, due to her dementia and losing my father and brother recently. The regular staff have been very kind and gone out of their way to engage with her and encourage her to join in activities. Relatives came to visit
and the staff organised a lovely lunch of sandwiches and cakes, plus tea served in a proper teapot and bone china cups. The food and presentation was excellent. My only gripe is with the agency staff who can be cold and unsmiling. However, the regular staff are wonderful.

This was my first experience of visiting West Hill Care Home. It was very positive, despite being sobering as this was to visit the first of any of my friends who have had to move into a care home. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The place inside is beautifully decorated and very clean. I didn’t
see the outdoor facilities but gather from another friend there is a small courtyard with seating.

I would like to thank all the staff of West Hill Care Home for all the help and support that has been given to me in regard to a very difficult time of my father-in-law needing to be looked after for his health and safety. They have shown compassion empathy and understanding of the situation I am in.
They have provided me with information and help regarding his care I couldn’t have managed without them being there with total understanding. The home is beautifully designed, housekeeping is of a very high standard and the staff are always welcoming so many activities for the residents every day and the food is of high quality. I'm so happy I chose this home, I would recommend this home to anyone who is in a situation with their loved ones. Very professional and provide a safe and natural home for all the residents I can’t thank them enough.

My mum moved to West Hill Care Home in November 2023.
We went to have a look around before she went in and found a very modern, clean home with welcoming staff and this has stayed this way.
If you have any problems they do try to sort them out straight away
Having a parent having to leave their
home to go into care can be a worrying time but at West Hill, they make it as easy as they can.

The staff are so welcoming. They have made Mum's transition to the care home very easy.

Mum has been really well looked after by all the staff at West Hill Care home. Being discharged from hospital Mum was frail from her illness and prolonged hospital stay, and with their help and assistance she has returned to good health along with growing confidence and now looking forward to returning
home with a support plan in place.
It was great for us to know all of Mum's medicine needs were managed and provided to her as prescribed, along with regular weekly Doctor's visit.
Mum has enjoyed making friends, as well as the activities that are laid out in the mornings and afternoons, especially looking forward to lunch times where she enjoys the good quality food along with her friends.

My mother arrived at West Hill Care Home in mid-August for 4 weeks of respite care (pending either a move to be nearer me or conversion to permanent stay at West Hill, subject to Mum's happiness). When we visited everything seemed fine and we were promised the sort of personal care which we hoped to
find for Mum. The reality was very disappointing.
From the moment Mum arrived, care staff were on the back foot and seemed unready to settle Mum in. Mum was confused and after 4 hours had not yet been shown how to call for assistance from her room. Over the next few days, there were many safety and welfare concerns which were communicated to the management at the home and we did not feel were adequately addressed and so after a fortnight, we moved Mum to a new home.
The Care Home Manager changed during the fortnight of Mum's stay. It has taken 4 months to recover from the trauma of this experience and write a review. I hope that others have a more positive experience.

We are obviously disappointed that you have had a negative experience. We always take all feedback very seriously.
In this case, it is often difficult to manage a family's expectations where the resident has the ability to make their own choices and decisions which we treat with respect and dignity.
The care home director personally discussed your concerns with you and your mother at the time and was disappointed that you had made the decision for your mother to be nearer your home in York, after only one week at the home, which is a very short time for any resident coming from home to be able to settle in a new environment.
We did follow up to ensure your mother was happy in her new home.

Regretfully, I had to accept I was no longer able to manage my husband's dementia. At a distressing time, we were fortunate to be welcomed with understanding and compassion at West Hill Care Home. The staff are always pleasant friendly and welcoming. I feel relieved my husband has so much freedom as
his dementia allows. I would find it helpful and reassuring if the reception provision was manned at weekends (but I believe this is being looked into)
