Its care staff have completed a range of training from induction and mandatory training to more specialist individual and/or small group coaching.
The care home has looked closely at what it takes to live a good life with dementia and staff are determined to share their expertise with everyone who comes to live at the home.
Residents can bring their own furniture for their room and will consider any request for a pet to live within the home. Residents are encouraged to receive visitors at any time. If it’s during mealtimes then the staff can make arrangements for you to have a meal with your visitor in your room.
Together the home cooked food and the busy activity programme ensures that residents enjoy the best of days. Special events and meals are planned for residents and families throughout the year, with friends and family welcome to book a table in the dining room for either breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The lovely rooms are a variety of sizes, some with en-suites. It would encourage anyone moving to Woodlands Care Home to bring in items to personalise your room, bringing in a touch of homes. Some of the rooms have garden views, others have sea views but whichever room you choose I’m sure you will be very happy with.
There’s plenty going on in this home and staff actively encourage residents to continue with lifelong hobbies and interests, whatever they might be. Or alternatively, residents might enjoy trying a new interesting activity.
Whichever or both, the care team as well as the activity team are happy to promote, encourage and attend any activity to ensure that residents have fun and fulfilment in their lives. The aim is to promote stimulation for mind and body as well as general wellbeing.
Any new ideas for recreational activities are welcome! A regular newsletter produced for both residents and their family's keep’s everyone in touch with what is going on at Woodlands Care Home.

It was my first visit after my friend admitted the previous day. I was helped with the booking in system and directed up to the 1st floor. My friend appeared well cared for and was supervised by staff unobtrusively. She seemed much herself and settled in the new environment. It was clean and homely. Lovely gardens noted through the window and look forwards to enjoying them in fine weather.

Overall I'm happy with the care my sister receives
Thank you for your kind review. As a management team we do review staffing levels on a weekly basis along with the regional manager to ensure that we always have the correct staffing levels. The activity team do resident surveys to ensure that the activity is the choice of each resident.

Every member of staff I have encountered on my many visits have been friendly, extremely caring and professional, they really got to know my father and treated him with dignity and respect. The home is spotless and my father's clothes were always clean and ironed. He enjoyed his food a great deal and polished off every meal, even on his last day. I was so pleased that I chose Woodlands for the care of my dear Dad in his final years.
I must say it was an absolute pleasure to take care of your late father, He and all the family will be genuinely missed by all the team at Woodlands. Especially all on Bartholomew unit.

Sadly, my wife's dementia became too much for me to care for her anymore, and she moved into Woodlands Care Home in Westhoughton just before Christmas. She settled in very quickly and is very happy and content. The staff are extremely attentive and caring and seem to enjoy their work. The layout of the unit is bright and colourful. There are regular activities arranged by the staff as well as a large garden outside as part of the care home, where residents can be taken to enjoy further activities. Her bedroom is light and airy with an ensuite shower and toilet, and she is checked every two hours at night as well as there being a detector mat in if she gets out of bed at night, which can elicit an immediate response from the staff. I can not think of anything that would make it better, and this gives me peace of mind, and I am able to visit her every day.
Thank you for your kind review. I am so glad your wife settled in so quickly. We love having you both as part of our Woodlands family. Its very important to us all at Woodlands that residents have stimulation and a good connection and links with the community. We look forward to welcoming you to our summer events.
I have found Woodlands to be a very kind, friendly & more importantly, excellent care home. It became a lifeline for my father & family.

It's so good to see our mum happy again, we can also take her dog in to visit and he gets spoilt also. Hi, my name is Vicky. I am the Registered Manager at Woodlands Care Home.
I have been the Manager here since June 2022, although I have worked at Woodlands Care Home since 2015, working my way up the levels from a carer to team leader, then deputy manager for 4 years before becoming Registered manager.
I absolutely love my job at Woodlands Care Home and pride myself on knowing every one of our residents, and I have good relationships with the families of our residents.
I have a brilliant team of staff who all give 100% to their roles.
I believe everyone should be treated as an individual, and we fully promote person-centred care. I feel I am very approachable to staff and visitors, which is reflected in the reviews we receive.
