My mother has dementia and is not mobile, she is not really aware of her surroundings.
Overall the home is good, the staff are excellent very kind and caring and provide a great standard of care to my mother.
The home itself is very basic but always appears clean.
There is a wide range of activities
for those who wish to join in & special days are celebrated.
The cost is ridiculous, I do not know how this is justified. I would want 5* luxury for that.

My mother has been a resident at Dene Place, West Horsley since October 2021.
The carers and all the staff are very caring, friendly and professional.
Nothing is ever too much trouble and all the carers/staff bend over backwards to make life as comfortable as possible with a 'homily atmosphere'.
My
mother has settled in very well, all her care needs are met. But, most importantly my mum is happy to be living at Dene Place.
So a big thank you from myself (and also my sister) for all the wonderful ongoing care that you provide.

My 88-year-old father-in-law has been a resident at Dene Place since May 2024, and we could not be more grateful for the care he receives. Moving a loved one into a nursing home is never an easy decision, but the team at Dene Place made the transition incredibly smooth and welcoming.
The staff are
the true heart of the home. They treat him with the utmost dignity, patience, and genuine affection, which has given our family immense peace of mind. He has a comfortable room that truly feels like his own space, and, when he is able to, he enjoys spending time looking at and relaxing in the beautiful gardens. It is so reassuring to visit and see him settled, content, and well-looked-after in such a lovely environment. Communication with the family has been excellent, and we always feel welcome and informed whenever we visit. Thank you to everyone at Dene Place for your dedication, kindness, and for making it a home away from home for him. Highly recommend!

Dene Place is a very happy (and efficient) home, where my father has been happily settled since June. The staff are all friendly and caring - they even greet my often muddy dog with enthusiasm when he comes along for a visit. The food is freshly cooked and delicious - for the first time in a while,
my dad is really enjoying his food. The rooms are all spotless. The team is run by the very professional, knowledgeable and friendly manager who sets the tone for a welcoming environment. She not only knows all the residents by name but also their individualities. I highly recommend Dene Place.
Reply from David Mclean, Customer Service Adviser at Dene Place Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your father in our care. It is always nice to hear words like "friendly and caring" being used to describe our care. We will certainly pass your comments on to the manager. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your fathers stay as comfortable as possible.

Mum has been a resident at Dene Place Care Home for nearly 6 years and whenever we take her out for an outing, on arrival at the gates when returning, she usually says "Home, sweet home!" which I think says a lot about the establishment. The staff are always so kind and considerate, not only to mum
and the residents, but to the families and friends who also become an integral part of the home. Also very welcoming whenever mum comes back after an outing. All staff are available to speak to at anytime, no matter what role they have. The home is spotless and everything is done to ensure residents' comfort. Recently mum had a fall (completely unavoidable and in no way suggests any negligence from staff) and the care she received at the time was exceptional and also on her late evening return from investigation at A&E. At all times, where mum's stated wishes respected too.
We are very lucky to have found Dene Place.
Reply from Rosie Smith, Customer Advisor at Dene Place Care HomeHello and thank you for sharing such a wonderful review for Dene Place Care Home. We are thrilled to hear that your mum thinks of the home as her own and that the staff are always so "kind" and "considerate" to all residents. We are sorry to hear of your mum's recent fall although are glad she was in the safe hands of the staff for her recovery. We are so pleased you have found Dene Place and hope your mum enjoys a long, continued stay at the home! Best wishes.

The staff have been caring, attentive and thoughtful throughout my mother's stay. The flexibility to make her room homely made a big difference to her happiness. The staff were always supportive of her attempts to integrate and make the most of the facilities. The team were proactive in making modifications
to the room to ensure it fitted my mother's needs. In particular, they were there for her in her final minutes. I highly recommend this care home.

My father has been a resident of Dene Place for 4.5 years. The residents are always placed at the heart of the service and as a result of this, my father continues to thrive at the age of 95 years. This is due to the high standards of care he receives from skilled carers and nurses who genuinely know
and understand their residents' needs and preferences. Many of the staff have been working at the home for several years which provides consistency of care and creates a lovely homely feeling for residents and their families. The home is run well by the manager and her team are a credit to her. The activities programme keeps my father's interest in living a good life. They include quizzes, painting, cooking, poetry, talking, exercise, team games, music, yoga, singing, dancing and more. My father is quite clear that this is a good place and he doesn't want to go anywhere else.

My husband went to Dene Place for end-of-life care and was only there for a short time. I found the care to be excellent in every way from the minute he arrived.
It was clear from the outset that the care extended not only to my husband but care for myself and my family, which was greatly received.
I
would really like to thank the staff personally for their kindness and sensitivity, albeit for a short period of time.

My uncle was taken into Birdscroft Nursing Home in August 2023 and suddenly passed away on 25th December 2023. He was very difficult with his dementia and became depressed. Despite all of this, the care of the staff was second to none. They were all so kind and loving to him. We, as a family, were really
impressed and are so thankful to them all. He was an accomplished organist and had sung with choirs. The staff liaised with the family to get a keyboard in for him and even suggested starting a resident choir for him to play for. This all meant so much to him and really helped him out of his depression.
Reply from Oksana Savka, Manager at Birdscroft Nursing HomeThank you so much for your feedback. Staff at Birdscroft Nursing Home always aim to provide the best care and aspire to make a difference in residents' lives. We feel very privileged to get to know your uncle, who was such a talented organist, and everyone loved listening to his music. All our team is happy that your experience with us was so positive. Our thoughts are with you.
