My last review was in 2019, The dedicated staff have had several changes however the quality and manager have not changed. In 2021? Covid Deaths within DC were nor recorded here because our manager closed applications to become new tenants, a week before other homes.. My wife and I had joined DC believing this would be our last home. Unfortunately my wife started to need 3 Carers to move her about the bed, and to dress her etc This meant the Manager become a Carer. I was warned Diane decline was becoming unmanageable and that might mean a nursing home. Within 3 weeks she developed an infection and hospital, after 3 weeks to nursing home in Peterborough, after 6 months she was transferred back into a Cambridge nursing home.. Where i have managed to visit her 3 times a week Then my own health declined I stopped driving and now use taxis to visit her twice a week. I believe It's the best elderly residence with extra care.
Thank you for taking the time to update your review and for sharing your experience with us. We truly appreciate your kind words about our team, management, and the quality of care we strive to provide.
The food here is terrible and my heating in my flat has not been working properly for 8 months and the staff don't care. The staff here just don't seem to care or use any initiative to help you. The staff don't seem to have been trained to do much at all!
She was taken ill recently and the CHS staff and night staff have been amazing, they have been so caring and supportive to both mum and to me too, doing whatever they could to help without any hesitation. They are a great team.
The care staff are amazing. Well trained in all aspects of care , and dedicated to provide excellent support to the Tenants. Growing old can be challenging , and I feel that Richard Newcombe Court helps me meet the challenge to the best possible standard .
This flat has allowed me to feel comfortable and has given me the independence to go out into the city either on my electric wheelchair or by bus.
The management and staff from Cambridge Housing are outstanding (there is another national care provider here called Radis).
I cannot recommend the development more but you have to understand that this is housing with care so residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible.
The care for residents is outstanding. Management of Moorlands provides a homely appeal with first-class professionalism from staff. Staff have gone above and beyond to help settle my sister and her husband, who had to suddenly move into extra care accommodation due to my sister's complex needs. Nothing is too much trouble.
It is now two months since my aunt moved to Moorlands Court. It provides ideal accommodation for her enabling her to retain her independence whilst giving support and care when needed. It also offers safety and security which is much appreciated by herself and the family.
When my mother was offered a place at Moorlands Court we couldn't believe our good fortune. The building is modern and well maintained. The flat offered was quite spacious with all the necessary facilities and, being unfurnished, Mother was able to have familiar things around her. The premises are well run by efficient, friendly and helpful staff. As a bonus, a very good quality meal is provided at midday.
I have been having Moorlands care since 2010 and then after losing my husband in 2013 I started coming to the day centre for the company and thought what a wonderful place it was. After speaking to my family I put my name down. It was the best thing I have done, no more worry about looking after the garden which was really getting me down in the bungalow. Everyone here is so helpful. I still have my car so just the same but no more worry lovely.
My experience of carers here is they are all so different with their own personalities, all are heightened by a sense of duty to the elderly, each treating us with dignity and each with humour bubbling out at the right time. They face rarely day or night, being the last human link with some of us as we pass on. They can't tell us until the family etc is informed. It's a very difficult part of their job with no medals awarded, but their humanity stands out as a peer group of people, supported in turn by all the other staff. Even the regular chefs know so and so does not eat carrots. The teams are led by a very small managing team under an excellent manager. My wife found herself recently on the floor in the shower room, lying on her back, within seconds other staff arrived with a hoist, she was checked out, lifted clear and was soon standing fortunately unhurt, say 15 minutes. We could not ask for more. I have been recommending this home for 2 years ever since we arrived.
Taking the service, care and facilities provided I would recommend Dunstan Court. It provides a nice living environment, friendly staff with various care packages. Meals are available, warm and bright with lifts available, local shops and doctors. I have found improvements with communication with management, which help to reassure me.
As a carer for my husband and with family living in Northumberland, Hampshire and Northamptonshire, I rely on my ability to use both hands! Having experienced a fall on 20th September which resulted in a broken left wrist and 2 fractured fingers on my right hand, I have been unable to wash or dress myself properly. Our family got in touch with Moorlands Court at Melbourne and arranged for a carer to come in the morning and evening and also to provide hot dinners for my husband and I.
I enjoyed coming and meeting people, things to do. I am glad they enjoyed my stories I have written and photos I took of everyone. I will be moving to Suffolk soon.
Although my mother's dementia deepened during these final years she never failed to tell me how happy she was at Moorlands and how well cared for. Whenever I had questions or concerns, staff were readily on hand to answer my questions and I always felt welcomed.
