Having experienced a few falls and a long hospital stay, it became apparent that Dad was no longer able to look after himself. Having looked around at local care homes, Harbour Rise was clearly the home for Dad. They have excellent facilities and the care team are brilliant. All his needs are catered
for and nothing seems to be too much trouble.
Dad took a while to settle in, but is now content. He enjoys trips out and joins in with some of the activities.
The care and consideration given to the residents was apparent when they went above and beyond expectations. Dad was unable to travel to a family funeral. Staff and the visiting vicar took time to sit with him and I know this meant a lot to him.

We viewed several homes before deciding on Harbour Rise for Respite care for my Mum while we travelled to other countries to holiday and visit family. Mum has been in 3 times in the last 12 months ( each time for 3 weeks +) and we are totally happy to leave her in their care.
The staff are very friendly
and seem to treat each resident as if they were their own grandparent with respect, care, and love. They take their time and add a good pinch of humour. The office is really good at keeping us informed on everything from answering any questions we have to sending updates on how mum is doing. The food is excellent quality and plentiful. Mum tells us they regularly offer extra snacks throughout the day, biscuits, cakes and will even make a sandwich if requested. The home puts on some entertainment and encourages residents to get involved.
We are very happy with Harbour Rise and will not hesitate to book mum in again when we next go away.

Mum came to live with us as she was no longer available to live alone. We were finding it difficult being her sole carers and we were recommended to Harbour Rise for day-care. From the moment mum went to Harbour Rise she was a changed woman. She had something to look forward to and the motivation to
get dressed in a morning and she looks forward to showing us what crafts she has made and telling us about her fun days with entertainment and she loves the food. They pick her up and drop her off home and she is fond of the mini bus drivers especially one in particular. She talks about her friends at HR both residents and employees. Mum is currently having 4 weeks respite care at HR which made perfect sense and she wouldn't want to go anywhere else. HR went above and beyond to accommodate these 4 weeks and send us regular updates on what her and her friends have been up to. When we go and visit it's a very welcoming atmosphere, the home feels so modern with natural sunlight and sea views.

When looking for a care home for Dad, we did a "drive by" of a number of homes. That was sufficient to dismiss many, Harbour Rise looked good from the outside and didn't disappoint when we visited. It immediately felt clean, bright, well maintained with a great atmosphere - and it passed my "sniff"
test (others did not).
Staff are without exception patient, friendly; caring and interested in the residents.
The quality of catering is exceptional, I see mouthwatering meals being served. The availability of a dedicated area for family and friends to sit and meet with their resident and have the opportunity to make a drink and a chat over tea and cake is a great facility.
Entertainment is planned and caters for all tastes. I was particularly impressed when Dad expressed a wish for an activity that wasn't then provided, in very quick time it was arranged, encouraged and has become a regular feature on the calendar.

My mum has been a resident at Harbour Rise for almost three years.
As a family, we will always be indebted to the staff who continue to provide the most outstanding wonderful care service to my mum.
Every aspect of the home is impeccable. The admin team, lounge assistants, cleaning, domestic staff,
kitchen staff, mini bus drivers/ maintenance staff, the carers , and every other person that works at Harbour Rise always go that extra mile.
The cleanliness of the home is outstanding and the atmosphere is happy and welcoming.
The food from breakfast to supper and all meals in between are delicious and fulfilling. There is always such a variety.
Harbour Rise always aim for perfection and they achieve this constantly. They go above and beyond for all residents and their family.
The summer Garden Party is fab , with amazing raffles and fabulous entertainment.
Nothing is ever too much trouble.
I would always choose Harbour Rise !!!

Harbour Rise is an exemplar in quality care. The Home is clean, bright and welcoming with staff who are exceptionally well trained in their roles, and who are caring, responsive, kind, respectful and clearly value and are valued for what they do.
Everything is thought about and nothing is too much
trouble. We were treated with such kindness while dad was at Harbour Rise and he benefited in so many ways from being there. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

Mum had become socially isolated and lonely during COVID-19. She had always been a social person and I set about trying to find company that was fun, stimulating, friendly and reliable. I had heard about Harbour Rise from some older friends of ours where the husband didn't want to get up in the morning,
aside from Harbour Rise days when he was up early and waiting on the pavement for the mini bus!! With Mum's blessing, we decided to take a look and visit. Within a few metres of stepping foot into the home, Mum said 'I like it in here.' She started going once a week and then gradually (at her request) set up more and more days! Mum now goes in for respire when there is a suitable room available every few months enabling me to have some time out and she sees it as a holiday where she is thoroughly spoiled! They are a very friendly team, and it feels like an extended family to mum now. She is made to feel so special and I will always be eternally grateful to them. I recommend it to all.

My husband and I live in Paignton and we both really wanted and needed to have two weeks respite.
where we were looked after and didn't have to worry. We chose Harbour Rise as our friends had recommended it.
The home has a lovely atmosphere, from the moment we entered the building everyone was so
friendly and welcoming. The staff have treated us with care, respect and the upmost kindness.
The food is great with a good choice, it's spotlessly clean and all the staff go the extra mile to do special things for us. There was a lovely trip out on the minibus organised for us whilst we were there .
We had a lovely large bedroom for two beds for my husband and I and everything was very nicely coordinated and a very light room too.
The management was very approachable and we felt we could ask any questions.
I have worked in care and Harbour Rise is well above the standards I have worked in.

Mum is 87 years of age and has been enjoying Day Care at Harbour Rise through the past year. She looks forward to going each week where she has made some lovely friends both amongst day care guests and long term residents. She loves the staff and especially looks forward to tasty meals and the entertainment
that is provided on a regular basis. She is also collected and brought home by a mini bus which is a great help to the family.
As mum's care needs are increasing, she was enthusiastic when we suggested she may enjoy some respite care at Harbour Rise whilst we enjoyed a holiday. She loved her two week stay where she had an immaculately clean and comfortable room with a sea view and commented how she had something different to do each day and how nice it was to have such lovely company throughout.
We are so happy with mum's experience there that she is now booked in again just a few weeks later for her next 'holiday'. Thank you so much to everyone at Harbour Rise.

I cannot recommend Harbour Rise enough for their exceptional respite care services. My mum recently stayed there for a short period, and the experience was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and reassured, ensuring every detail was handled with care
and professionalism.
The team at Harbour Rise are incredibly attentive, tailoring their approach to meet my mum's individual needs. Their warmth and compassion gave us great peace of mind, knowing she was in the best hands while she took a much-needed break. My mum spoke highly of all staff.
It's clear that Harbour Rise prioritises not just the physical well-being of their residents, but also their emotional and social needs.
If you're considering respite care for a loved one, Harbour Rise is a fantastic choice. Their dedication, attention to detail, and warm environment make them truly stand out. My mum returned home refreshed and content.

As our mother could no longer safely live independently, we set out to find a home from home for her near us. The minute we walked into Harbour Rise we knew we had found the perfect place. This has been reinforced by our experiences since she moved in. Staff are friendly, engaging and respectful. Mum
has loved meeting new people and staff make time to get to know her. There are many interesting activities: crafts, musical events and even balloon tennis! It has a homely atmosphere, is immaculately clean and well decorated. Mum's room is lovely, spacious, well equipped and with a delightful view. Any tiny issue that might arise is dealt with immediately, and care needs addressed discreetly. Food is excellent and Mum has gone from a worryingly tiny appetite to looking forward to each meal. The Admin team keep families fully informed and in the wider sense with weekly updates with photos and videos. I highly recommend Harbour Rise to anyone looking for a nurturing home for their loved one.

Prior to living at Harbour Rise, my grandfather lived with my family and I. My husband used to work as a quality matron at a General Hospital, so he has a keen eye for good care. Harbour Rise impressed us both from the moment we stepped through the door, from the kindness of the staff to the general
feeling of warmth, cleanliness, great facilities and activities on offer. We love that we are able to come and go with our dog and the children - it always feels so safe and welcoming. Grandpa's room can't be faulted, the sea view is wonderful. It gives us peace of mind that he is so happy here. Food is one of his remaining pleasures in life, and the traditional meals on offer more than caters for his needs. We are very pleased with the level of care he receives, and Harbour Rise surpasses all of our expectations. Grandpa always says he has been lucky in life, and at 102 that's no mean feat. Harbour Rise continues to make him feel that lady luck still shines on him!

The prospect of my dad needing full time care was initially daunting. Since my dad has been a resident for 3 1/2 months, I've been deeply impressed by the exceptional care and support he receives.
The atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming. I like the cosy evening gatherings in the lounge, staff
interact with the residents. Day time I've observed staff engaging residents in various activities.
My father has always taken pride in his appearance, staff ensure he is presented smart and clean. They've taken the time to learn about his preferences for example his passion for football, especially when his team play. My father experiences occasional times of confusion, staff give him reassurance. I was very grateful for their prompt contact recently when my father became unwell.
Staff give excellent standards of care, displaying an attitude of valuing the residents. The home has a truly special family like feel. I am very thankful that my father is receiving high quality care from the entire team.

My husband first came to Harbour Rise as Day Care. It was such a happy time. The staff were all so welcoming, always by name and he enjoyed the various daily activities, which showed how comfortable he always was with Harbour Rise.
When it became clear my husband needed more care after a hospital stay,
Harbour Rise were able to help. Their response was immediate and their loving welcome and attention to him as he arrived had a lasting impression.
My husband is happily settled permanently, enjoying the comfortable, bright surroundings and looking forward to his next beautifully prepared meal and whatever else the day holds for him.
I feel completely confident in their care, everything is taken care of, and I am able spend as much time with my husband as I would like, in the bright cafe lounge with tea/coffee, biscuits and cakes on hand!

We cannot recommend Harbour Rise enough. Our mum initially attended Day Care and then had a couple of weeks respite following an operation earlier in 2024. Mum was keen to increase her Day Care to 6 days a week as she enjoyed it so much. Following a hospital stay, Harbour Rise was the obvious choice
for mum as she loves it there. Right from the start, we were impressed with the excellent response from our email enquiry and the speedy response to all email contact. We have been treated very well and we know mum has been, as she tells us she is being very well looked after. Mum has been a very happy resident since August 2024. She enjoys the activities, all of her meals and the snacks provided.
Harbour Rise is beautifully presented, very clean and a pleasure to visit as we are made to feel very comfortable and welcome by the wonderful staff who are always friendly and very kind. Our children and families are also happy to visit due to the lovely cafe area they can sit and enjoy the visit.

My mother-in-law has recently enjoyed 3 weeks respite care following a fall. Due to the expert care and endless kindness of the staff at Harbour Rise, she has come home feeling and looking like a million dollars. The home is beautiful with fantastic facilities. She has been treated with such kindness,
dignity and respect.
Visiting the home, with 2 young children, was a pleasure too and all the small touches, like a cafe for visitors and treats for the children made it feel like a home away from home. Thank you to all the amazing staff at Harbour Rise - you are incredible.

I arrived at Harbour Rise with some trepidation to be met by the manager. I was taken to my room and settled in with quiet efficiency and the minimum of fuss. After a traumatic accident in a foreign country and temporarily in wheelchair coming here for my recovery and respite was absolutely the right
