Only negative was patient transport. Cancelled a heart appointment 20 minutes before the appointment. Also, some cleaning staff sitting in patient rooms on their phone. Called PALS 2 weeks ago and still no call back

Reply from Zoe Johnson, Placements Manager at Little Manor Care Centre

Thank you for taking the time to review Dads stay at Little Manor.

I am pleased that you have been able to raise your concerns regarding Hospital transport with Pals. As I mentioned when we spoke, the transport service is managed externally by the hospital and is very much out of our control....

Review of Kimberly West Care Centre from Mary E (Wife of Resident) published on 10 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My husband recently died in Kimberley West Care Centre, after 6 months of very capable, efficient care. The staff were kind and considerate to him and myself throughout, and treated him with respect as I would have expected, even after he became confused towards the end of his life. His many wounds and ulcers were treated with great care and efficiency and he was given medication regularly to alleviate the pain, so that he suffered the least pain as much as possible. I would highly recommend this nursing home for anyone contemplating care for their loved ones - it was quiet, efficient, clean and friendly in all respects. The only difficulty I encountered was the lack of English-speaking carers at times, but in general this did not cause a great problem, and normally there was a way round by finding another carer who could interpret. I cannot comment on value for money as we were funded by the NHS.

Review of Kimberly West Care Centre from Robert B (Husband of Resident) published on 13 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

About ten years ago my wife was diagnosed with Huntington's. As you may know this is genetic but was unknown in her family. For seven years I became her full time carer. After a fall and a short spell in Hospital we decided she needed to go to a Care Home. After a long conversation I asked a member of the support staff called Ali if she could find a suitable Home with knowledge of my wife's problem. She found that Kimberley West care centre had a vacancy. I go every day for three hours around lunchtime and have got to know many of the residents now as friends. The staff are a truly amazing group of people, nothing seems to much for them even when difficult problems occur. To have such a diverse group of people who treat each other as equals I find truly humbling.

Review of Holmwood from Simon F (Son of Resident) published on 2 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

We can't thank everyone at Holmwood enough for the love and care they gave to my mum for the two months she was there. She was always treated with such warmth, dignity and genuine kindness, and it meant so much to me and my wife. She never look unkempt or dirty - I had no cause for concerns here. The care and support was beyond excellent - we were always kept informed of any issues, which brought real peace of mind. The home itself is consistently welcoming (get past the carpet you see of 1960's retro), never with the unpleasant smells you sometimes associate with care homes. Every visit we were offered a cup of tea. Mum loved the food and they catered for her needs with no fuss. What makes this place special is the people. The staff are compassionate, patient and take the time to build real relationships. We will always be grateful for the care they gave to Mum and whilst the stay should have been longer - her final days were in the right place. Thank you! Highly recommend.

Review of Holmwood from Caroline W (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

We have been reflecting on our experience placing my mother in law 'Wendy' into care with Holmwood Care home last year in April. Wendy is particularly treasured by myself, her son and our Children. She was frightened and depressed when she came to live in care. The wheels fell off very quickly and even with around the clock care we couldn't get things right for her to feel safe. Since being in Holmwood we now get to spend time with a calm and happy 'Wendy'. She loves where she is and she gets regular visitors. However, when life events have hit us and we aren't there we know that she is in the safest hands with Julie and her team who are now like family and she speaks very highly of. She enjoys to give staff her family news not least her greatest joy last week of becoming a Great Granny to Willa her first great granddaughter.

When I called Zoe, the Placements manager a year ago in the hunt for the right place for Wendy I knew by the end of the call this was it.

Reply from Zoe Johnson, Placements Manager at Holmwood

Thank you for sharing your experience of Wendy's move to Holmwood. We know how difficult it can be when a loved one is unsettled or struggling, and we're really pleased to hear how well she has adapted and how much more comfortable and content she now feels.

Knowing that those in our care feel...

Mum was at home since February 2024. Few challenges at beginning with suitable food option, and her preferences took a while to sort out (attitude of chef on one occasion was unacceptable). Staff were always caring and welcoming and really did seem to care for mum and make her stay as enjoyable as possible. How ever the staff seemed under staffed, especially at weekends. On one occasion on a Saturday an activity was advertised but didn't go ahead. Security was very good as she was identified as a flight risk. Mum did have quite a few serious falls whilst in home.

Overall Experience

My father was a resident at Kimberley East from April 2024 until he sadly passed away on 1st January 2026.

During his stay he was treated with nothing but complete professionalism, love, kindness and care. Even in his last few weeks his comfort and dignity were upper most in the care he received. In fact the last video we have of Dad was taken on Christmas Day and in it he is telling the staff how amazing and wonderful they are. A sentiment echoed by his family.

The home, the family room and his room were always clean and tidy and were always greeted with a smile and hello by all the staff we met.

As a family we cannot thank everyone (no matter their role) at Kimberley East enough for making Dad happy, content and well looked after.

I cannot thank and rate highly enough the care that my mother received in the last year of her life. The hoist facilities were the first transformation enabling her to get from bed to chair in minutes, alleviating the manipulation for the staff and allowing a smooth transition. But by far the most outstanding experience was the nature of the care; respectful, dignified and loving. A true family ambience - which is apparent in all the staff. Thank you to you all.

I have found the nursing home to be clean and tidy and the staff very friendly. My friend was only in the care home for a relatively short period of time for palliative care. I found all the staff very caring and helpful in their dealing with Shirley and me. The home was spotlessly clean at all times. What I particularly liked was to be able to bring some of her ornaments, teddies and pictures, etc. It really helped to settle her in.
