After a successful 3 weeks at Leighton Rose last November, I was extremely disappointed at the level of care my husband received on his second stay. In November there were only 4 residents on the dementia floor; this time it was full. On several occasions I found him unshaven, in wet trousers or in
pyjama bottoms because his laundry had not been returned. His lower legs and feet swelled up for the first time ever due, in my opinion, to lack of movement, even though I have been promised that mobility would be encouraged. I will not be entrusting his care to them again.
Reply from Dionne Pearson, Registered Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry to read that your husband's second stay at Leighton Rose did not meet the standards you experienced previously, and we apologise for the distress and disappointment this has caused.

We would like to reassure you that the management team met with you on several occasions during the stay to review care delivery and to ensure that support was being provided appropriately. In relation to the laundry concerns, items were being washed on the day your husband left the home, and the Deputy Manager personally delivered these to you.

Your comments regarding appearance, continence support, mobility, and the overall consistency of care are taken seriously, and we are sorry that you felt let down on this occasion. Feedback of this nature is important to us, and it has been shared with the management team for review and reflection.
Once again, please accept our sincere apologies.

I was admtted to Leighton Rose Care Home for respite care following a fall.
My son contacted the care home and very quickly, the deputy manager visited me in hospital to assess my needs prior to admission.
Everything regarding my move from hospital to Leighton Rose was arranged.
I was greeted by
friendly, helpful staff on arrival and settled into my very pleasant room on the nursing floor.
Throughout my 3 month stay I was treated with kindness and efficiancy from all levels of staff.
The staff were very busy and many worked long hours , but they remained cheerful and friendly at all times.
Although I chose not to join in all the group ativities, there were plenty on offer.
My visitors were made welcome and we enjoyed making use of the Bistro facilties on the ground floor, where there is also a hairdressing salon, and cinema.
There was always a satisfactory choice of meals 3 times a day.
Reply from Soni Atwal, Senior Customer Relations Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review of your stay at Leighton Rose Care Home.

We are delighted to hear that your admission process was smooth and that our Deputy Manager was able to support you and your family during what must have been a challenging time. Ensuring a seamless transition from hospital to our home is something we strive for, and it is wonderful to know that you felt well supported from the very beginning.

Your kind words about our team mean a great deal to us. We are incredibly proud of our staff and their commitment to providing compassionate, person-centred care. It is especially rewarding to hear that their kindness, professionalism, and cheerful approach made such a positive difference throughout your three-month stay.

Please be very careful before entrusting a loved one to this Care Home. My mother was only in the home for about 4 months when she was rushed to hospital with suspected sepsis. She was severely dehydrated, malnourished, and required a CT scan due to bruising on her forehead. After nearly 4 weeks in
hospital, she sadly passed away. The management only contacted the family once, after 4 days of admission. Our mother passed away on 13/04/2026, and we received an email from the manager on 21/04/2026 acknowledging mum's death.
Leighton Rose, under the umbrella of Maccare, is not a caring community.
We have been contacted by our local authority safeguarding team and informed that they will be commencing a full enquiry under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014 into the circumstances surrounding my mother's care.
Reply from Navjot Hanspal, Executive asistant at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you for sharing your feedback. We are very sorry for your loss and extend our sincere condolences to your family.

Concerns of this nature are taken extremely seriously. Due to our duty of confidentiality, it would not be appropriate for us to comment on individual circumstances in a public forum, other than to say that the concerns raised have been thoroughly reviewed through our formal processes.

Leighton Rose has well-established safeguarding, governance, and clinical oversight processes in place to support the safety and wellbeing of all residents, and we work closely with relevant professionals and authorities where required. In the event that any safeguarding enquiries are raised, we will cooperate fully with the appropriate agencies and processes.

We recognise this has been a deeply difficult time for your family and again extend our condolences.

Leighton Rose Care Home is exceptional in every way while caring for my father in the nursing part of the home. From the very beginning, they have been extremely welcoming, and the staff truly go above and beyond for residents and families.

The facilities are outstanding, from the cinema room to

the large, open and bright coffee area. Every member of staff takes the time to get to know what my father likes and dislikes, personalising both his care and his preferences.

A special mention must go to the management and administration team, who are outstanding. Their kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail make such a difference. They even set up a room for a private family lunch, making it feel like a luxury hotel.

The care, warmth, and dedication shown by everyone at Leighton Rose are second to none. I can't recommend the home enough.

Following a fall, my mother needed respite care with nursing support while she recovered from a broken arm and foot. I called Leighton Rose and within two days they had assessed her in hospital and arranged her transfer. The speed and ease of the whole process took so much pressure off our family. The
facilities are stunning - it feels like a luxury hotel with full medical care in the background. My mother had a room on the dedicated nursing floor, giving her 24/7 assistance, but she could still mix with other residents once she felt up to it. The staff were warm, professional, and attentive, and she settled in quickly. I would wholeheartedly recommend Leighton Rose.

Mum and other residents I speak with have constant complaints about the food, lack of condiments, lack of variety and quality of vegetables. Just serving peas with almost every meal. Tasteless soup. The time taken for adjustments to meals leading to cold food. These issues are raised at every relatives'
meeting and we are told at residents meetings but they never seem to be addressed.
The staff seem very caring but oversight of housekeeping seems haphazard as room cleaning and bed making do not seem to happen all the time.
It would be good for residents to be taken for walks but the feedback we receive is that there are insufficient staff to do this. Since her arrival mum has put on a lot of weight and become diabetic. Better diet and more exercise might well have prevented this.
Overall we see Leighton Rose as safe but could do much better with catering and staffing levels.
Reply from Dionne Pearson, Registered Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We value all comments as opportunities to learn and improve our service.

We hold monthly resident meetings and, although there were past concerns about food, none have been raised recently. As discussed at the relatives' meeting, our meal service is currently under review to enhance the dining experience. We would be happy to share our menu, which offers a good variety of vegetables. While we have not found meals to be cold or lacking taste, we recognise preferences differ and will work with your mother to improve her experience.

We offer regular activities, including weekly exercise sessions, tailored to residents' preferences, with many currently favouring indoor options.

If you have concerns regarding your mother's care, I would be happy to arrange a review with our Deputy Manager.

Thank you again for your feedback; it is invaluable in helping us maintain and improve the quality of care we provide.

My father-in-law has been a resident of Leighton Rose for a little over a year now, and although I haven't been able to visit often from Spain, we FaceTime twice a week. After our last call, I mentioned to my wife what a difference I'd noticed in him: he's more cheerful, socialises more, and is getting
involved in the home's activities with some enthusiasm. I assume that much of the positive change is due to the care and attention he receives from key staff members.

My Dad has been in Leighton Rose for just over a year now and although he was initially unsure about moving into a care home he has now settled in and happy. He has developed friendships and good relationships with the staff which has been lovely and has put our minds at rest. There has been quite a
turnover of staff which doesn't help some residents I'm sure but hopefully this will settle down. The activities seem to be increasing, as the home is filling up, which is positive but I think Dad would like more organised excursions as we move into the warmer months. The catering always seems to be brought up, by all the residents I have spoken to, as an issue but I know this is being addressed. Overall pleased that Dad is settled and special thanks to Kelly who supported us during Dad's transition from own home to care home.
Reply from Soni Atwal, Senior Customer Relations Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback.
We're so pleased to hear that your dad is now settled, happy, and has built meaningful friendships with both residents and our team. We understand that moving into a care home can be a big adjustment, so it's wonderful to know he feels at home and that this has given your family peace of mind.
We really appreciate your honest comments as well. We recognise that consistency in staffing is important, and we are actively working to strengthen stability within the team. It's also great to hear you've noticed an increase in activities, and your suggestion around more organised excursions as the weather improves is very welcome-we'll be sure to share this with the team.
Thank you too for highlighting the catering. We are aware of the feedback and are continuing to make improvements to ensure we meet residents' expectations.

My husband was in hospital for a month and our daughter-in-law spoke with Kelly about arranging Respite for him. Kelly then guided us through the rest of the procedure. It was the best thing for my husband. He didn't have to think about anything, it was all done for him, he could just re-charge his
batteries. His room was lovely plus as a step towards his independence he could use the wet room style shower in the spacious bathroom. It was lovely for him to socialise with his visitors in the lounge area and enjoy coffee/tea and a selection of cakes! All the facilities were first class as detailed in the brochure. All the staff were very pleasant, helpful and efficient. Thank you to the hairdresser who shaved off his month old beard! Special mention to Kelly for all her help in arranging his stay at very short notice and then extending his stay. Must also mention Sarah, Bonnie, Lisa and Barbara for their help. A very big thank you to Leighton Rose for helping my husband return home.

My father has been with Leighton Ross for 18 months. He has Alzheimer's. We have found all the staff very engaging friendly and supporting. The house is beautiful layout with many different areas for the residents to enjoy. The rooms are large and en-suite. There are 3 good meals each day with drinks
snacks and fruit available all day. There 2 activities planned each day which are diverse and fun for the residents to participate in. Before going to Leighton Rose my father hardly saw any one. Now there lots of people to engage with and has made some friends.

After a sudden hospital admission my dad needed full time care. I contacted Kelly on the Monday desperate for a room for him, by the Thursday he was discharged from hospital and safe in the care of the Leighton Rose team. His room is modern and comfortable, he is very happy with the food and joins in
with the many activities on offer. His clothes are cleaned daily which is such a relief. All of the staff I have encountered are friendly and welcoming. There is a lovely warm atmosphere in the home. Thank you!

My mother has now been a resident of Leighton Rose care home for over 6 months. It's taken a while for her to settle, but we as a family have seen the difference in her. She is eating well and definitely seems less stressed with the world. Mum chooses to spend her time mostly in her room, but there

Mum had excellent nursing care throughout her final illness and we felt very much supported as a family.
Leighton Rose staff were very caring and accommodating and the reception staff were always very helpful and friendly.
Management staff were extremely supportive and helpful, especially when my
mother's health deteriorated and she needed to be moved to the nursing floor.
Her room was comfortable and spacious and there were other areas where family could go and talk together, or take a break in the Bistro if needed.
It was a great comfort to know how well mum was being looked after.
Leighton Rose is a lovely, welcoming place and we are so glad that mum got to spend her final months here

It has taken Mum a while to settle in at Leighton Rose but many aspects of life here are helping. She enjoys good relationships with the staff and the company of other residents. She appreciates the excellent facilities and environment and takes part in many of the activities provided. The Christmas
programme was particularly good.
The health care provided sees her fitter than before, though I feel that communication would improve if a family member was with her when decisions were made.
Mum is reasonably happy with the catering and enjoys the wine provided but feels that 5pm is much too early for dinner.
The home's response to suggestions and complaints has been mostly good. But housekeeping is sometimes a bit slack: breakfast things still not cleared away at lunchtime, tooth mug needing cleaning, for example.Mum has mentioned being treated like a child; staff really must be careful not to patronise elderly people. Lastly, bereavement counselling was mentioned but nothing has bee.

My friend has now been in Leighton Rose Care Home for 3 months as a permanent resident. The staff, the building and facilities are all very good and up to the standard one would expect for the high amount it costs. But the food and kitchen services are NOT up to standard and on some occasions it could
be called appalling. This seriously needs addressing by management as it lets the whole place down. There, now you have it warts and all.
