Earlier this year we got to the stage where mom couldn't manage at home any more with her dementia. High Lodge have been fantastic in helping mom settle in taking a huge weight of our shoulders. The food is tasty and home cooked and mom has even put some weight back on. We are always made very welcome
when we visit and always feel we can approach the staff about any concerns we may have. Having a parent with dementia is a very hard situation but we believe she is in totally the right place at High Lodge.
Reply from Patricia Stevenson, Home Manager at High Lodge Care HomeMany Thanks for taking the time to give High Lodge such a lovely review. It means so much to the team to know that you and your mom are happy with the service we provide. Once again, Thank you from the whole team.

We moved my husband, into high Lodge about 1 month ago. He was previously somewhere else. Me & my family are so pleased we moved him from his previous place. It is 100% better care, the residents look happy clean and cared for. My hubby has settled in well. So far we notice the welcome when we visit
him, staff are all lovely. Please keep up the brilliant standard of care. Thank you all

Mom was admitted for respite care due to her dementia. The home is absolutely lovely. The staff are so kind & caring and deal with some very difficult situations really well. The home is also very comfy and homely, making my mom and the other residents feel really comfortable and safe. Mom loves it
here, and we are hoping to get her in on a permanent basis.

I'm delighted with the staff , services and all my dealings with High Lodge Care Home. Mom has dementia and suddenly, just under a year ago, could no longer cope with care at home. As we live such a distance from her , I had to choose a home quickly, based on reviews, phone calls and facilities available.
This was quite daunting, but I've been absolutely delighted with the way Mom was welcomed into the High Lodge family and treated with love and dignity. The team are so caring and all medical needs are promptly addressed. I can contact them at any time and ask any questions, or speak to Mom. The quality of her life has been greatly improved by the company, activities and interactions she receives on a daily basis. The food is home cooked and delicious and residents have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, and are I no longer have to fret about trying to meet Mom's many needs, knowing she is safe and well cared for. Thank you so much High Lodge.
Reply from Patricia Stevenson, Home Manager at High Lodge Care HomeWhat a wonderful and heartfelt review. - What can I say.
I know It is hard when making that decision to place your loved one in 24Hr care, It is something you have to feel you made the Right Choice with, and that the family also feel confident with that choice they made - You obviously do.
I would like to say a massive Thank you from myself and the team here at High Lodge.
It means so much to us all.

My Grandma has been a resident at High Lodge since July 2024. Prior to that she was being cared for by my mom and that was becoming increasingly difficult. With her Alzheimers progressing she needed a safe environment where her needs would be met. The care she receives is exceptional and she is settled
and happy. The staff are fantastic with her and welcoming to family members. She enjoys the food, activities and has a lovely room. It is reassuring for us all knowing that she is in safe hands.

My mom became a resident at High Lodge early this summer and as a family, we have been really pleased with the care she has received. The staff are friendly and approachable and caring, with many having been there for some years!
They are always open and ready to share with us as a family how Mom
has been. They have been very responsive, and liaise well with healthcare providers when there are health issues. Mom has settled well and enjoys that this is a smaller home environment, so often quieter. All the residents seem happy and content here, which is lovely to see. Thank you!

My mother took on residence at High Lodge in February 2024 after a fall at home and spells in hospital and another care residence. Her health and mobility have improved enormously at High Lodge, as has her mental health. This has been due to the care and support she has received which has been excellent.
She is well looked after and treated with care, respect and dignity.

The staff are all very friendly and approachable. Constantly monitoring and interacting with residents, who they know by name.
They treat all residents as individuals and are aware of their likes, dislikes and something of their history.
Happy with Mom's care but if there was an issue I would not
hesitate to raise it with the staff or management.

Moved Mom to High Lodge in early 2024. Mom is 86 and was fit and healthy until 2023. She spent a short time in another care home but had difficulty mixing and re-adjusting.
The care received in High Lodge is very good. Health issues that arose due to her medical condition have all been dealt with very
efficiently. My mom has settled in and enjoys the rural location with county views from her room. There is also a quiet lounge. Love the attention to detail in decoration of rooms. Have no regrets moving Mom and am very happy with the care provided.
Reply from Patricia Stevenson, Home Manager at High Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. Myself and the team are very pleased you and your mom are happy with the service we provide. It is always a hard, difficult decision to make when choosing a New care home where you feel your mother will settle, be taken care of and fingers crossed she can make some new friends. After all you want is for her to be happy, feel safe, comfortable and be herself. This is Her Home at the end of the day, we just support her. Peace of mind goes a very long way. Once again, Thank you from Myself and the team here at High Lodge Care Home.

High Lodge is currently looking after my husband. I have nothing but praise for the care he's given.
The staff/carers are wonderful, friendly, easy to approach and to talk to, they're happy to accommodate and help.
I feel at ease knowing that he's being looked after.
The setting is lovely, looking
out onto fields, which makes it calming.

My father-in-law, who has dementia, has been at the home for over a year now. Without exception, all staff, carers, cooks and cleaners are really lovely, friendly and caring and go out of their way to make residents as comfortable as possible and are also very supportive and understanding to our family.
It really feels like a ‘home’, helped by the fact that it has a lot of longstanding staff who really get to know the residents and their individual needs and personalities. The home is cosy, food is very good, there are daily activities if people want to join in, and an outdoor space where residents and family can sit in the warmer weather. The home also has occasional family meetings which is really lovely as we get to meet other families in the same situation as us.
After visiting we feel we can walk away feeling totally reassured that my father-in-law is receiving the best care possible and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend High Lodge.
Reply from Patricia Stevenson, Home Manager at High Lodge Care HomeThank you for this really heartfelt review from myself and the team. It is not an easy decision to make in the beginning as this is not what anyone wants. We all want to grow old in the safety of our own homes with family around us so when that decision is made you have to feel that you have sought the best care possible and from what you say "you have". We strive in providing a service that caters for the individual, by involving the family/relatives and service user to achieve the very best outcome for them. We have a person-centred approach offering the individual privacy dignity and respect at all times while allowing them the freedom to express themselves. We want them to feel safe and cared for as well as part of a larger social group. "Living their best life". So when we receive a review such as yours, it feels like we are doing things right - after all this is "their home". The fact that you wouldn't hesitate in recommending us to others says it all. Once again. Thank you.

I would thoroughly recommend this care home to anyone looking to find a safe, caring 'home from home' for their loved one. We were recommended High Lodge Care Home by the GP and had to make a decision quickly. Mom had experience of other care homes in the area, which were not so good, so we were apprehensive.
However, from the time we visited to when Mom, unfortunately, died some 2 months later, she was treated like one of their own. The staff were always friendly, attentive and the personal, passionate care they demonstrated in her final few weeks was second to none.
Mom was a typical 93 year old, stubborn, set in her ways and sometimes quite grumpy, but we visited every day and she always told us the food was nice, her room was always spotlessly clean and the staff were all friendly. Unlike other care homes, the staff always made an effort to get residents out of bed and interacting with one another and there is a 'quiet room' for those wanting peace or for visitors to use.
Thank you High Lodge.

Dad has been in High Lodge Care Home for two years this weekend, and while vascular dementia continues to erode his memory and functions, we know he continues to receive the very best of care by the team at High Lodge.
This was reinforced to us last month when he tested positive for covid that necessitated
a stay in hospital. On admittance he had a skin test to check for any sores, bruises etc. The nursing staff commented on how well looked after he was as there were no marks to concern them. They also told us how unusual this was for residents in care.
We already knew how much affection and respect the care staff show to Dad but this was music to our ears.
And when he was discharged from the hospital, the icing on the cake was him declaring it's good to be home with my own bed. He's obviously happy in his environment.
Massive thanks to the manager and all of our extended family at High Lodge.

Mum was relocated from her home town to be near us. We did a lot of research on various homes. We were so thrilled when we found this gem and relocated her here. She has now had very happy years here. She is enriched by the music and crafts and the communion services that have happened. Regular festivals/celebrations
are noted and talked about; even if she does not recall or understand, you can see that both her physical and mental welfare are being catered for.
She is always happy and the telling point is that we have turned up at various hours on various days. We are always welcomed after clearing the secure entrance system to safeguard the residents. The kitchen staff provide excellent meals which we have also seen frequently. Thank you to all the caring staff who really do work as a team led by excellent managers. We are very grateful indeed.
Reply from Patricia Stevenson, Manager at High Lodge Care HomeIt was fantastic to read your review, and we are all very pleased as a team that you and your family member are happy with High Lodge Care Home.
It is such an important and very hard decision to make when choosing a home for your loved ones and for you to say that you found this "Gem" says it all.
As a home, we strive to provide a 5-star service remembering that this is not our home but the residents home and we are here to support and protect them, treating them with privacy, dignity and respect at all times while encouraging them to remain as independent as they can.
We operate an open and transparent culture, and always listen to suggestions to improve our service.
This is also great for other people to read who find themselves in the situation when trying to find that special home. Thank you once again for taking the time to leave this review, it means so much to the whole team to know we are doing things right for the good of our resident's health and well being.

My mum has been in High Lodge a number of times for respite over the years and is now in full time. She is so overwhelmed by the care and compassion from all the staff. A real home from home even with its own hairdressers. Everyone is kind and all the residents are looked after wonderfully - I cannot
recommend High Lodge highly enough. It is second to none and a safe place to be. All the residents are loved by such a hardworking team of ladies like they are related, it's wonderful to see. It is also set in a beautiful location. Dad and I have peace of mind knowing Mum is in a warm, caring, loving home.

Until she passed away, my mother was given the best care possible. She was taken there after the poor care she was given at another care home. To say that two places could be so different is difficult, but please believe me when I say chalk and cheese is no comparison. The staff CARE, all the while
my mother was there nothing was too much trouble, for my mother or the other residents I noticed when visiting. With all the family, we visited almost every day and not one of the family has said a bad word against the place. I would recommend this home to anyone in an instant.
