My elderly relative was taken to this establishment in 2022...and would absolutely NOT recommend this 'care home'. It is very clean which gives a good first impression and some of the care staff are lovely. However as it is not allowed to go into detail I will just highlight the ratings I have submitted..
and hope the reader takes note of those ratings. Also if your elderly relative has a Dementia... this 'care home' place the elderly person on a unit that caters for their same sex and from the ages of 18 years upwards which I have found is not an appropriate setting for an aged person with Dementia as opposed to an EMI Elderly Care Nursing Home. I would suggest anybody looking for a placement for their elderly family member suffering from a Dementia research age appropriate nursing homes who specialise in acute dementia care.

After a long stay in hospital, my father-in-law was found a place at Cwm Gwendraeth in the Twyi unit. Unfortunately his health took a turn for the worse and the care shown by all the staff, not just on the unit but the whole home, was above and beyond what could be expected. My mother-in-law chose to
stay at the bedside when end of life care was necessary and she was looked after by everyone better than a five star hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. My husband, daughter and myself were kept informed on what was happening and we couldn't fault the care we all received. The home is kept immaculately clean and there was always a friendly member of staff on hand with tea and sympathy whenever we needed them. I really can't thank all the staff enough for making a horrible situation so much more bearable and would recommend them all for an award. In the space of a week I felt we got to know several of the staff and they all have hearts of gold. Thank you all from the resident's family.

On my first ever arrival at the Care Home, I thought WOW! What a peaceful Setting and Lovely designed Building. I was visiting my dad who transferred here only 3 days ago from Hospital. Before entering I had a look around outside and it was really well presented and clean etc. I spoke to someone on
the phone who then met me at the door as Reception was closed (Sunday). I was led to my dad's room which was quite large and spotlessly clean. A Carer showed me to the lovely Garden where we sat with my dad during our visit before returning to his room for his Tea and we then left. Although it's only been 3 days, I am very happy with the friendly and helpful staff and the cleanliness etc on our first Visit.

Gwalia Mynydd Mawr is such a lovely, happy place. As a family, we cannot sufficiently express our gratitude for the care provided to our brother in the 18 months he lived there. Our brother was in the Twyi residential unit. The very nice modern unit is maintained on a daily basis to a very good standard.
The relaxed and friendly environment is created by the extraordinarily kind and friendly team. Each unit known as 'clusters' cater to just 13 residents this maintains the small 'homely' feeling. The small kitchen within the unit is available at all times for the residents and/or their visitors to use. Unlucky for the person who puts the kettle on and announces this fact. So often got 'caught ' into making cuppas for all!

As a family, we have happy memories of the time our brother lived within this lovely cluster. Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff in Twyi residential unit. Thank you all.
