My mother has now been in this Care Home for 6 months. Since being here she has been eating better and her mobility has improved. Most importantly she has thrived in the friendly and caring atmosphere. The staff and management are committed to provide a safe and happy environment.
Reply from Lynn Jewell, Operations Manager at Willow Tree HouseWhat a lovely review to receive - thank you. At Willow Tree we want all our residents to thrive, and we work hard to make that happen. It's lovely for the staff to know their efforts are appreciated. We hope Mum continues to enjoy life at the home.

My mum has been a resident of St Peter's for nearly 2 years after her previous care home closed suddenly. It was a tricky move as Mum didn't want to leave her old home but all the staff at St Peter's went above and beyond to help my mum settle in under difficult circumstances. My mum is a Buddhist and
they personalised the garden outside of her room so she could practice her beliefs, which was/is so important to her and us. As Mum's dementia has advanced, her behaviour has been very challenging at times, but the staff have always treated her with kindness and respect. As a family, it is always so difficult handing over the care of your loved one to someone else, but we have always known that mum is safe, well cared for and listened to at St Peter's. The peace of mind knowing this is priceless and we cannot thank the staff enough for all they do.

Our family visit my mum regularly in the care home. On 18th December we joined Orchard House, a large number of residents and their families at the local pub for a Christmas meal. We celebrated my mother-in-law's 90th birthday today at the care home.
I would like to thank each and every one of the amazing staff for always showing how much they care for all the residents.
They went above and beyond to make her birthday celebration special under the circumstances of my mother-in-law's
poor health.
The entertainer was amazing as always.
Happy New Year to you all and thank you.

The manager and her team organised an incredible Christmas meal for all the residents at the local pub. All the carers were involved to ensure that this was such a wonderful experience for the residents and their families. Previously the manager organised a pub lunch for the male residents. The manager
and her team always go above and beyond for the residents. The kindness and care they all give is just amazing.

When my dad was admitted into Orchard House, he was very poorly, the family were prepared for the worst outcome. However, due to his treatment and care from the staff, he not only has settled by, he now has a quality of life.
I have seen my dad dancing and freely walking around. He is cuddled by everyone.
As a family, we are truly thankful that he has been respectfully treated.

Mum moved to Orchard House 2 weeks ago and appears to be settling well. All the staff are friendly and the manager and staff have been very supportive, both when we initially visited to view the home, and since Mum's arrival.
The home has a very nice conservatory and a lovely big garden which the residents
are able to use, especially in the summer months. The home hosted a fireworks display last week on bonfire night and it was good to see so many family members joining the staff and residents on the evening.
Our initial impressions of the Home have been very positive and we hope Mum will be settled and well cared for. There appears to be a calm atmosphere in the Home which contrasts favourably with where she was before.
Thank you to everyone involved in Mum's care.

I am so pleased that I found this care home for my Mum who had dementia. There is a warm, caring welcome every time you visit. The team are highly motivated and are all busy helping residents with kindness and dignity. The management team are brilliant. The residents are all engaged in activities and
are calm and well cared for. Activities are regular and provide fun for the residents. A beautiful garden, used by residents too. Highly recommended by me and my family. Thank you to the staff.

My mother moved into Balmore Country House on 26th September 2024. The staff from the Manager to the whole team are all highly professional and all possess that can-do attitude. Their approach to care for the residents is exceptional. The home has that airy bright vibe and my mother was very well cared
for throughout her stay. I felt highly confident in leaving Mum in the staff's care.

My uncle has been at Orchard House for a good few months now. I feel that the management team are excellent at passing on concerns updating us with our relative's health issues. I find the carers to be very kind and caring, nothing is too much trouble. Also the kitchen staff very kind and compassionate.
On the whole, I find Orchard House to be well run, very clean and welcoming. Well done. 10/10.

My father-in-law had Dementia and was a resident of Balmore for about a year. We all found the staff incredibly caring working hard to get to know him, his background and his interests and using these to respond to his needs in a really personalised way. They created resources that reflected his professional
career and the phase of life his Dementia placed him in, helping him to settle, feel he belonged and was valued for who he was. Everyone who worked there knew his name and spoke to him when they passed him. Despite events occurring when residents became agitated or incidents occurred, we never saw staff respond in any way except calm and caring. And even when things became problematic, they still worked to find a solution that centred around my father-in-law remaining calm, safe and cared for. As a family, we were always welcomed, with my Mum being invited to share meals and events at the care home with her husband. We will be forever grateful to everyone for their care of him. Thank you.

As a family we have felt very fortunate to have found this care home. Originally the home to both our parents, now the very much loved and enjoyed home to our mum. The Victorian building and its large mature garden are very well kept and the decor updated continually, giving a very homely feel, but
it is the management and the staff that make this care home a comfortable home. The staff greet you with smiles and are all so caring with the residents. The management are very approachable whilst making improvements to the home continually. Mum's words are as she sits in the garden, 'I love being here in my home, the staff are lovely.'
Reply from Lynn Jewell, Operations Manager at Orchard HouseThank you for a lovely review. Management and staff of Orchard House like to consider all who live, work and visit the home as one happy family and we are so pleased that this shows in the care provided.

My father was resident for a week and a half of respite at the Ruddington Retirement Village, part of the Balmore complex. He had a great experience, the staff couldn't have done more and the facilities and his room were very comfortable and extremely clean. He also enjoyed the food and drink, even
a little party with dancing. As a family, we found the staff gave useful feedback, were easy to communicate with and his stay was a great success.

My friend came to you form the hospital having had a stroke. The first time I came to visit him at Willow Tree Care Home, I was assured that they would feed him up, get him stronger and my word have they stuck to their words. This is such a lovely place to have a loved one in your care. Each time I
have visited, I see the dedication in all of your staff, nothing is too much trouble for any of them no matter what their rank. It has been an eye-opener for me, seeing how demanding this job can be and how they cope 'very well I think'. God bless you.

Poor communication. No music on ever which is so important to residents. Times when I walked the whole ground floor to find staff and struggled. No conversations of advice regarding her care going forward. Felt invisible when visiting. Just sorry couldn’t get mum moved before she passed.
Still not
answering simple questions after mum passed.
Reply from Lynn Jewell, Operations Manager at St Peter'sSt Peter’s Care Home has looked after the people of Ruddington for over 20 years, giving the best care that we can and it is what we strived to do in respect of the reviewer’s Mum. We disagree strongly with the inferences contained in this review, and it runs counter to our experience of our contact with her family whilst she was with us. We are sorry if this family member now feels that her Mum was not given the very best care, or that they were ignored, but we always felt we had an excellent relationship with them, in fact, they praised our care on many occasions.
We always maintain strong links with resident’s families as we feel it is so important that everyone is involved in the care of a loved one. We will continue this practice going forward and if anyone has any concerns or issues regarding the care of a loved one, they are more than welcome to raise them at any time with us. This is, we feel the best way to give support to both residents and families at all times.
